Unless the data clearly indicated a significant issue with the patient's brain, a craniotomy would be necessary to address the problem. Only then would a surgeon operate on the patient. No one would dare suggest opening up a patient's skull on the off chance there might be an issue, only to close it back up if nothing were found. Who would take such a risk?
