C14 No I'll Help You
Tang Hao polished off the last bite of his meal and wiped his oily hands with a nonchalant air as he taunted Lee Wanqing.
"What are you, exactly? Daring to speak to me in such a manner? You must have a death wish, you worthless thing."
"Don't lose sight of who you are. You're insane. You're nothing more than a dog kept by the Lin family. Don't waste my time. Do you think you have the right to butt into my affairs? Get lost. Just looking at you makes me sick."
Lee Wanqing regarded Tang Hao's face with revulsion.
To her, even though his features were far superior to Yang Wenfeng's, they appeared utterly repulsive.
Tang Hao had struck a nerve with Lee Wanqing.
She reacted like a wild cat whose tail had been stepped on, lashing out with all her might, desperate to reveal her fearsome power and intimidate Tang Hao.
She attempted to use her status to belittle Tang Hao, aiming to assert the authority of a Lin family matriarch.
Sadly for her, it was all in vain.
"Listen, Lee Wanqing, get this straight: Lin Mengyao is my lawful wife now, and no one, especially not you, should covet her. Don't think you can do as you please just because you bear the title of mother."
"I'll have you know, you have no right to call yourself a mother. Anyone who uses their own child as a pawn for personal gain doesn't deserve that title. If you're that desperate for money, go cater to that mangy dog yourself. At least that way, you'll be earning your keep."
"You might as well contribute to the economy and add to the workforce. That's about the only good you could do for society."
"While you're still not too old, you'd better seize the moment. These are your last few years before your value plummets."
"And another thing... don't snap at me. Aren't you aware that it's a crime to kill someone in a fit of madness?"
"You... You dare to threaten me..."
Lee Wanqing was utterly taken aback by Tang Hao's biting retorts and public humiliation, treating her as if she were a woman of ill repute.
He was completely out of line. She was, after all, Tang Hao's mother-in-law.
Yet he had the audacity to speak to her in such a way.
Enraged, Lee Wanqing breathed heavily, her chest heaving beneath her low-cut outfit.
She felt dizzy from the commotion.
For years, she had been the only one to throw her weight around in the Lin family; she had never been confronted like this before.
Lee Wanqing struggled to utter a few coherent words even after some time had passed.
"Oh yes, you called me crazy, didn't you? Well, guess what? I am. Now what?"
Tang Hao might have seemed normal, but his occasional actions were baffling. Label him sane, and he seemed a bit mad; call him a madman, and at times he appeared too clever by half.
Wanqing found herself at a loss trying to gauge Tang Hao's true state after his retort.
After Tang Hao's rebuke, she was wary of pushing him too far.
If Tang Hao were to snap and actually stab her, she'd be at a significant loss.
She couldn't fathom the horror of dying by Tang Hao's hand; she only knew that if he did stab her, he wouldn't be paying with his life. At most, he'd be sent back to the mental hospital.
When it comes down to it, no sane person would seriously engage with a mentally ill individual.
Everyone values their life too much to risk it by clashing with someone who's unwell.
What a senseless way to die.
Wanqing fell silent for a moment.
If Wanqing hadn't wounded Mengyao's heart so grievously, Tang Hao would not have resorted to such harsh words.
But Mengyao was crying so bitterly.
As Mengyao's true husband, if Tang Hao remained indifferent to his wife being mistreated, he might as well commit himself to the mental hospital for the rest of his days.
Tang Hao picked up a small, delicate dinner knife from the table, meant for carving the roast suckling pig.
Yet, in Tang Hao's grasp, it took on a more sinister purpose.
The sound of the dispute drew the attention of guests at the nearby banquet tables.
As they caught sight of the knife in Tang Hao's hand, their eyes bulged with fear.
They had all ridiculed Mengyao for marrying a madman, sparing no effort in their scorn for the Lin family, primarily targeting Mengyao and Tang Hao.
But now, with Tang Hao wielding the knife, the so-called elite guests were thrown into disarray.
Some even began to plot their escape routes, fearing what might happen if Tang Hao were indeed in the throes of an episode—a terrifying prospect.
No one would ever want to be on the receiving end of a knife wielded by a madman.
As Tang Hao picked up the dinner knife, Lee Wanqing was so frightened that she retreated several steps, revealing Yang Wenfeng who had been standing behind her.
Yang Wenfeng regarded Tang Hao with a guarded look, yet his expression was mostly one of contempt. As the heir to the Qrapo Group, he considered dealing with such a lunatic to be child's play. He didn't believe for a second that Tang Hao had the courage to harm him. Should Tang Hao dare to inflict any harm, the retaliation from the Yang family would be more than a small fry like him could withstand.
Yang Wenfeng gazed at Tang Hao with an air of arrogance. "What's the matter? You, a piece of trash, want to stand up for yourself? Better to just slink away. You look like such a coward. Be thankful if you have a wife. Sadly, a loser like you probably can't continue the Lin family line. But, being the generous soul I am, I'll reluctantly help you out by fathering a child. If you're ever in the mood, you're welcome to come to my mansion and witness the child-making plan with your wife. Don't worry, I won't charge you since I know you're broke."
"When my child is born, make sure you raise him well. Consider that free son my gift to you, Yang Wenfeng. Hahahaha..."
Yang Wenfeng made these outrageous comments publicly, showing utter disregard for Tang Hao and Lin Mengyao, treating Mengyao as nothing more than a plaything to be insulted at his whim. He didn't even consider the Lin family worthy of respect.
Did the Lin family need Yang Wenfeng to carry on their lineage? Were they devoid of heirs?
Old Mrs. Lin and Lin Xinguo were still present, after all. Upon hearing Yang Wenfeng's words, Old Mrs. Lin's face darkened, and the expressions of Lin Xinguo and his son also soured. While Lin Qing was quite pleased to see Lin Mengyao's family being targeted and shamed, Yang Wenfeng's remarks had inadvertently lumped the entire Lin family into the mix.
Undeterred, Tang Hao made his way directly toward Yang Wenfeng.
