C18 A Painful Beating to the Doorkeeper
Tang Hao bit back his anger and addressed the two security guards firmly.
"Open the gate now. If you cause any more delays, you'll answer to the authorities."
One guard adjusted his cap with a baton, smirking.
"Do you even know where you are, kid? To think you'd dare to cause trouble here. Are you ignorant of the consequences?"
The guards menacingly blocked Tang Hao's path, looking less like protectors of corporate safety and more like thugs out for extortion.
"Be smart and step out of the car for a thorough check, or else I'll have to teach you a lesson," one guard threatened.
Their gaze shifted to Lin Mengyao, clearly taking an inappropriate interest in her. Lin Mengyao's striking beauty always drew attention, and the thought of being able to 'inspect' someone of her caliber excited them greatly.
As security guards, their brazenness in threatening visitors to the Lin Group was appalling.
Under normal circumstances, encountering a few tough characters would have sent them scurrying into hiding. But their current boldness made it clear to Tang Hao that they had been tipped off. They knew they could act out without repercussions, hence their audacity.
It was bad enough that Lin Quansheng and his family were bullied by their own kin, given their reduced circumstances and lack of power. But for these pawn-like guards to act so out of line was a clear sign of disrespect to the Lin family.
Tang Hao might typically ignore such insolence, but everyone has their limits.
These so-called watchdogs barking at the Lin family had clearly signed their own death warrants.
Tang Hao opened the car door and turned to Lin Mengyao in the back seat.
"Stay put and don't leave the car," Tang Hao instructed firmly.
The two security guards, assuming Tang Hao was backing down when they saw him exit the vehicle, became more aggressive. "No, just one of you getting out isn't enough; everyone needs to get out," one guard insisted.
"I've heard rumors that Lin Mengyao married a lunatic, and it seems they were right," the other guard sneered, laughing. "She truly married a worthless man."
Tang Hao watched the guards with an amused smile. "You don't recognize whose car this is? You don't recognize the members of the Lin family? Well, today, I'll make sure you do."
With a swift chop of his hand, Tang Hao struck one guard on the forehead, deforming the man's hat. The guard collapsed to his knees, the baton he held inadvertently jabbing his own neck as he fell. He lay there, clutching his throat, the pain too intense for an ordinary person to bear, his face turning a deep shade of red as he retched helplessly.
Seeing Tang Hao's brutal efficiency, the other guard retreated in terror, but his bravado didn't falter. "You... You dare to hit someone? Just wait... I'm going to call for backup."
"Call for backup? Even an entire legion would be useless," Tang Hao retorted, quickly catching up to the guard and sending him tumbling to the ground with a solid punch. He pinned the guard down, delivering punch after punch with relentless force. Within moments, the guard's face was swollen beyond recognition.
"Please, no more, I beg you. I won't dare do it again," the beaten guard pleaded.
"Oh? So now you recognize the people of the Lin family?" Tang Hao asked.
"Yes, we do! Big brother, have mercy! We won't dare to cross you again," the guard cried out.
Tang Hao grabbed the baton and pressed it against the guard's face. "Remember this: no matter who you work for, pass along my message. Anyone who dares to mess with Lin Mengyao's family is messing with me. I don't break the law when I kill. If anyone harbors such malicious thoughts, they'd better clean their neck and wait for me."
"I'll have to take matters into my own hands if it comes to that."
"And the same goes for you all. If you think your lives are too long, I won't hesitate to shorten them."
"I wouldn't dare, I wouldn't dare anymore. Big brother, dad, from now on, you're my real father."
Despite everyone mocking the Lin family's son-in-law as if he were a madman, they all conveniently overlooked Tang Hao's temper.
His temper was notorious even in the mental hospital.
Now out of the mental hospital, there was no way Tang Hao would let himself be pushed around like a doormat by these so-called gatekeepers.
Tang Hao watched with a grin as the security guard lay on the ground, howling in pain.
"Remember this: when a member of the Lin family arrives, you'd better smarten up and bow deeply. Show any disrespect again, and I'll twist your head off. This goes for all of you in security, got it?"
"We've got it, we'll do it right."
"Remember, I'm giving you this one chance."
Tang Hao stood up, releasing his grip on the security baton.
The weighty baton dropped freely, landing squarely on the security guard's lower body, eliciting an agonized scream.
Ignoring the two security guards writhing on the ground, Tang Hao walked back to his car.
In the back seat, Lin Mengyao looked at Tang Hao with concern, clearly worried about the possibility of him getting hurt from his frequent fights.
Though Lin Mengyao felt aggrieved by the Lin family's antagonism, she didn't dwell on it too much.
What mattered more to her was Tang Hao's reassurance.
Lin Quansheng, also seated in the back, found himself in agreement with his son-in-law's actions.
Tang Hao might appear rough and volatile on the surface, but Lin Quansheng had come to see that there was a method to his madness. Tang Hao's approach to handling situations was actually quite precise and serious.
He might seem like a lunatic acting on whims, but in reality, that was far from the truth.
Tang Hao had a sense of measure in dealing with many issues.
However, to those opposed to the Lin family, this nuance was entirely lost on them.
Tang Hao's first display of severity was directed at Yang Wenfeng, the eldest son of the Yang family. Yang Wenfeng had crossed the line with his remarks, prompting Tang Hao to retaliate fiercely on behalf of Lin Mengyao.
In minor incidents or those that did not significantly harm Lin Mengyao, Tang Hao would turn a deaf ear and carry on as usual.
He was utterly indifferent to any insults directed at himself. Yet, when it came to any slight against Lin Mengyao, Tang Hao would not let it slide.
Lin Quansheng had taken careful note of this behavior.
