C5 Berserk

"Han Deng, please don't take offense. That man simply enjoys spouting nonsense. You are the finest doctor the Lin family has ever hired, and we have full confidence in your skills," Lin Qing said, turning to offer an apology.

To everyone's surprise, Han Deng reached out to Old Mrs. Lin, his face showing a hint of concern as he urgently requested, "Bring me the silver needles, quickly!"

After his emphatic plea, the nurse promptly passed the silver needles to him.

Han Deng proved his expertise. As he inserted the silver needles, they drew out clotted blood, and he proceeded with heart resuscitation and other emergency measures.

Suddenly, the lines on the electrocardiogram began to leap once more!

"This..."

"This isn't right!"

Lin Qing was stunned, realizing that his earlier fantasies would dissipate like bubbles with Old Mrs. Lin's awakening.

He opened his mouth, intending to ask the doctor to cease treatment, but he knew that doing so would blatantly reveal his ulterior motives. Instead, he could only glare resentfully at Old Mrs. Lin, silently wishing her an early demise.

Meanwhile, Lin Mengyao was overwhelmed with relief, her tears flowing as she saw her grandmother's heart beating again. She covered her mouth to muffle her sobs, all the while gripping Tang Hao's arm tightly.

Tang Hao looked on as Lin Mengyao cried uncontrollably, allowing her to clutch at him as she pleased. He was strong and sturdy; her pinching was only likely to hurt her own hand, not him.

Lin Qing observed Tang Hao with a thoughtful gaze, wondering whether the treatment he had suggested was merely a fluke or something more.

Chaos ensued in the ward as Old Mrs. Lin was rushed to the operating room. The silver needles had only managed to remove a small portion of the clot; a proper surgery was required to extract the larger mass.

Tang Hao had the skill to manipulate the silver needles to relieve the clot in her brain, but he chose not to intervene. Han Deng's surgery would likely go smoothly without his help, though it meant Old Mrs. Lin would endure more suffering.

From a distance, he coldly watched the Lin family's turmoil, observing his bride-to-be as she busily completed the necessary paperwork.

Lee Wanqing pulled Lin Mengyao aside into a corner.

"Who asked you to take care of all this? Your father has been dismissed by that old hag. You're running around for her, but the money you're spending is mine! Our family isn't what it used to be. Hand over your bank card to me."

Lin Mengyao stood her ground. "I have a stake in this too. I have the right to make decisions."

She was on the verge of being dismissed by her grandmother and had been married off to a man with mental health issues, yet she couldn't bring herself to turn a blind eye to her grandmother. Her conscience wouldn't allow it.

Breaking away from her mother's control, she took the bank card to settle the bills. Upon her return, Lee Wanqing's glare was so intense it felt lethal.

Old Mrs. Lin's surgery went on through the night. While everyone else was drowsy and harboring their own agendas outside the operating room, only Lin Mengyao, with eyes bloodshot, remained fixated on the door, yearning for a sliver of good news.

At last, as dusk approached, after an agonizing wait, Old Mrs. Lin was finally out of danger.

Lin Mengyao went home to get organized and took her husband, who struggled with mental health, with her. She feared leaving Tang Hao alone; others might take advantage of him.

"Shall we go home?" Lin Mengyao asked Tang Hao softly, "We can go home, change, and have something to eat."

His wife's tone reminded Tang Hao of the way his sister used to persuade him to eat. He remained silent, reflecting on the past. His sister and parents had passed away long ago, leaving the siblings to rely on each other. Hao had always worked tirelessly to provide for his sister, often at the expense of his own needs.

Tang Hao followed Lin Mengyao home without protest.

"Sister, you've got quite the knack for handling your husband right after getting married. This 'madman' isn't so foolish after all—he knows a beauty when he sees one. Ha!" Lin Qing watched them and sneered.

Lin Mengyao glared at Lin Qing, her anger rising. She tried to speak up but found herself at a loss for words.

"You're spouting nonsense, you..." Lin Mengyao was refined and poised, but Lin Qing's blatant hostility brought tears to her eyes, which she struggled to hold back.

She was at a loss for a comeback to the mockery.

Tang Hao had no interest in engaging with someone like Lin Qing.

He stepped forward and landed a punch on Lin Qing, knocking him to the ground. Tang Hao didn't stop there; he pinned Lin Qing down and landed several more blows, leaving him bruised and begging for mercy.

"Spout any more nonsense, and I'll finish you off!"

Tang Hao had no interest in stooping to their level. Did they really think he was some weakling?

Lin Qing lay sprawled on the ground, having been thoroughly thrashed by Tang Hao, several of his front teeth scattered around him.

Fear filled his eyes as he gazed at Tang Hao's imposing figure, astounded by the man's formidable strength.

It was as if Tang Hao's grip was an iron vice, rendering him completely immobile.

He had foolishly overlooked the fact that Tang Hao was a violent maniac. Provoking him was a sure path to trouble. If Tang Hao was willing to strike him, Lin Qing, then Lin Mengyao would undoubtedly be next.

Lin Qing smirked at the thought of Lin Mengyao suffering the consequences of the "gift" he had arranged for her.

He eagerly anticipated the news of Lin Mengyao being beaten to death by Tang Hao's outburst.

Tang Hao strode away decisively, with Lin Mengyao trailing behind.

Despite witnessing Tang Hao's aggression twice, Lin Mengyao wasn't afraid of him. She had this gut feeling that he wouldn't lay a hand on her—a woman's intuition.

Overcome by drowsiness in the taxi, Lin Mengyao couldn't resist the urge to sleep and rested her small head on Tang Hao's shoulder.

From Tang Hao's perspective, her lips were a soft shade of red, slightly pursed. Her youthful face was even more endearing from above.

Her cuteness was laced with a subtle allure.

Suddenly, a loud crash jolted the taxi. Tang Hao steadied himself and gently covered Lin Mengyao's delicate ears, striving to keep her undisturbed in her slumber.

A wave of tenderness washed over Tang Hao for his unsuspecting wife; he didn't want her peaceful rest to be interrupted.

The taxi driver left the vehicle, cursing, and never returned.

A group of burly men in black encircled Tang Hao.

"Our boss wishes to meet you," one of them declared.

As one man moved to knock Lin Mengyao unconscious and attempted to lift her, Tang Hao's chilling stare stopped him in his tracks.

Tang Hao stepped out of the wrecked taxi and, turning back, scooped Lin Mengyao into his arms.

She snuggled into his embrace, and Tang Hao carefully adjusted her position to ensure her comfort.

These men were no mere show; their every action was calculated and precise, reminiscent of a well-organized unit.

He was curious to follow them and uncover the nature of their intentions.

Tang Hao sat in the back seat of the understated black BMW, his eyes blindfolded, holding Lin Mengyao comfortably in his arms, without a hint of panic despite the precarious situation.

The vehicle weaved through the streets, eventually arriving at a secluded location.

Upon exiting the car and having his blindfold removed, Tang Hao was greeted by the sight of an imposing structure before him.

The black building, nestled against the mountainside and beside a river, blended into the night. Yet, Tang Hao, with his exceptional vision, could make out every detail.

The structure sprawled across the mountain, its variously sized rooms scattered strategically. The one before him appeared to be the largest in the complex.

Walking through a lengthy corridor, Tang Hao entered a room that was completely sealed off from the outside world. He noted that the walls seemed strong enough to withstand artillery fire.

Inside, a figure with a graceful silhouette awaited him. At the sound of footsteps, the figure turned around, revealing a face full of allure, framed by black curls and accented with bold red lips. The figure was clad in a tight black outfit that accentuated a stunning physique.

Soong Qing?

"Why is it you?" Tang Hao asked, surprised to see his former partner. She seemed to have fared well, rising to a position of prominence.

Soong Qing exhaled a smoke ring and rose with a flirtatious air, approaching Tang Hao and casting a glance at Lin Mengyao.

"So this is your new wife? She's quite attractive," the beauty remarked, tilting her chin slightly and gesturing for Tang Hao to seat Lin Mengyao on the nearby sofa.

Without hesitation, Tang Hao complied. His initial reluctance to let go of Lin Mengyao was due to concern, but the presence of a familiar face eased his worries.

"What do you want with me? You've made quite a dramatic entrance," Tang Hao inquired.
