C10 Enemies Come Knocking on My Door
"Why do you have to be everywhere? Can't you give it a rest for a moment?"
Woo Yang was quite irritated by the Golden Book's scorn, completely losing any interest in further inquiry.
"Master, I don't mean to nag, but try not to get worked up over trivial things in the future. You'd be better off channeling that energy into your cultivation."
"Just drop the idea of siphoning my soul. You won't succeed, and that'll be the end of it."
Woo Yang, now brimming with confidence, was certain he could reach the Qi Stage Layer Four within the allotted time, so whatever the Golden Book said was of no consequence to him.
With a sigh, the Golden Book fell silent, much to Woo Yang's delight. He could sense his skills as a Dao Pattern Master had improved, which brought a surge of excitement.
"Now that I've improved, I should be able to etch a second Dao Pattern, shouldn't I? Let's give it a shot."
With that thought, Woo Yang's attention returned to the sword as he channeled his Genuine Qi once more. As the Dao Pattern emerged on the blade, the sword began to quiver and, to his shock, exploded right before his eyes.
Staring at the shattered remains, Woo Yang was baffled. What just happened? Wasn't his realm supposed to have advanced? Why did it explode?
"Life Reaping Talisman, come forth and explain this."
Perplexed, Woo Yang summoned the Golden Book within him, hoping it could shed light on the situation.
"What did you expect? Did you think inscribing a Dao Pattern was going to be a walk in the park? You didn't even consider the weapon's material. If it can't handle the Dao Pattern's enhancement, of course it's going to end up like this."
Despite his low opinion of his current master, the Golden Book knew its place. As long as Woo Yang didn't breach any cultivation tenets, it would still offer its guidance.
Woo Yang now realized that the weapons were just made from common materials, which he wouldn't have bothered with if not for the Dao Patterns.
"Tell me, how many Dao Patterns can a weapon actually hold?"
This new curiosity led Woo Yang to seek out the Golden Book once more.
"That depends on the material of the weapon. Typically, weapons are categorized as ordinary, spiritual, and divine. A divine weapon, capable of bearing over a thousand Dao Patterns, wields power beyond your wildest estimates. It can effortlessly slay an expert at the Extreme King Realm."
Woo Yang was left speechless by the Golden Book's revelation. He had suspected as much, but the reality was still shockingly formidable.
"Forget about it. By your own reckoning, you wouldn't even make it to the peak of the Qi Stage. Such matters are of little consequence to you."
"Buzz off. I am your master, after all. A few words of encouragement wouldn't kill you, but no, you just have to douse me with cold water at every turn."
"Very well, Master. Give it your all, then."
Woo Yang's face was etched with frustration, nearly driven to the brink by the Golden Book's mockery. This was hardly encouragement; it was blatant scorn.
But what could he do? He couldn't lash out at the accursed Golden Book, nor could he berate it. Another lightning strike from the heavens, and he'd be the one worse off.
With a resigned sigh, he turned his attention back to the other weapons still devoid of Dao Patterns.
From what he'd gathered, these weapons might not even qualify as low-grade. To a martial artist, they were hardly treasures.
Once the frustration had subsided, Woo Yang returned to the meticulous task of inscribing Dao Patterns, undisturbed by the outside world.
All he wanted now was to swiftly etch Dao Patterns onto each weapon. Doing so would net him another two thousand Spirit Stones, setting the stage for his future training.
As Woo Yang devoted himself to the art of Dao Pattern inscription, he was oblivious to the creeping danger. Meanwhile, the Golden Book lay concealed within him, silently observing his every move.
"Brother, that loser Woo Yang must've guessed we'd come and gone into hiding," Woo Tong said, trailing behind a grim-faced Woo Tieh.
Woo Tieh scanned the deserted area where Woo Yang usually lingered, then spoke with a chilling tone, "Let's head to his house. He's got the nerve to cross me; seems he hasn't learned his lesson yet."
Listening to his older brother's tone, thick with anger, Woo Tong forced a grotesque smile onto his bloated face. But as he grinned, the scars on his face stretched painfully, contorting his expression into a grimace.
Woo Chenghao, too, was stirred with excitement. He had long awaited Woo Tieh's entrance to take care of the detestable Woo Yang, and at last, his wish was being fulfilled.
The trio quickly stormed into Woo Yang's abode. Impatient, Woo Tong bellowed, "Woo Yang, you worthless coward, come out! Today, you're going to learn the true meaning of cruelty."
Yet, despite his shouting, Woo Yang was nowhere to be seen, leaving Woo Tong red-faced with embarrassment.
Fuming, Woo Tong was ready to burst into the inner sanctum when Woo Tieh intervened.
The Woo family might have scorned Woo Yang, but he was still one of their own. A reckless intrusion would not sit well with the elders.
"Why are you holding me back, brother? Woo Yang knows we're here. He's just cowering inside, too scared to face us," Woo Tong grumbled, clearly annoyed at being restrained by his older brother.
Woo Tieh, however, ignored his brother's protests and fixed him with a glare that silenced any further objections.
"Stay here and wait for me. You're not to enter without my say-so."
With that, Woo Tieh made his way toward the house. As someone who had reached the formidable Qi Stage Layer Five, he had no fear of Woo Yang's potential schemes, especially since Woo Yang was merely at Qi Stage Layer Three.
Entering the room, Woo Tieh quickly spotted Woo Yang, who was seated in meditation. He was about to speak when he paused, his brow furrowing.
Woo Yang appeared to be deep in cultivation. A cold smirk crossed Woo Tieh's face as curiosity got the better of him. He was eager to discover how Woo Yang had evolved from a former nobody to someone who now dared to strike his own brother.
Approaching Woo Yang, Woo Tieh observed him forming peculiar hand signs, with a shoddy meteor hammer laid out before him.
"What's this nonsense? Has his cultivation driven him mad?" Woo Tieh mused as he took in the odd spectacle before him.
In the midst of his confusion, Woo Yang, oblivious to his surroundings, thrust his hands forward, and a distinct Dao Pattern materialized on the surface of the meteor hammer. What happened next took the bewildered Woo Tieh by surprise; the meteor hammer he had previously dismissed was now radiating a formidable energy.
Woo Tieh was completely taken aback, wondering how such a thing was possible.
Coming to his senses, Woo Yang finally heeded the warning from the Golden Book. Instinctively, he glanced over his shoulder and caught sight of Woo Tieh standing right behind him. Startled, he sprang up from the ground and leapt several meters away in a single bound.
Now, he watched Woo Tieh warily, ever vigilant for any unexpected moves.
