C13 Don't Mind These Details
Zhang Hai was taken aback. Hadn't they said it was some kind of component? The object before him looked nothing like a device.
"Ding! Nether Energy Module detected. Install?"
"System, are you sure this is the right component?"
"Yes, Captain."
"Alright then, install it."
He couldn't fathom why a component would be shaped like this. But if he could come to terms with transmigration, this was hardly an issue.
"Ding! Nether Energy Disguise is operating normally."
The system proceeded to outline the capabilities of the Nether Energy Disguise. In essence, it allowed the warship to change its form at will. As the warship evolved, it would become increasingly sophisticated and larger. With the Nether Energy Disguise, the warship could mimic any other warship's form and gain its unique abilities.
To Zhang Hai, the device seemed useless. Why would he need a smaller ship when he had a massive one? It was like a man with a large presence opting to become an insignificant worm—it made no sense.
Suddenly, the space around them began to fracture. The little girl from Dawn was ecstatic; she was finally going to escape this wretched place. Zhang Hai braced himself for what was to come.
"Little dot, find somewhere to hide. We're surrounded by hundreds of Barbarian Blood Warships. It's extremely dangerous."
To his surprise, Dawn's eyes sparkled with excitement.
"Really? Fantastic, I've got this. A few hundred junk ships? I'll have them sorted out in no time."
With that, she bounced outside, and on her way out, she managed to bash the doorframe of the Commander Room.
Zhang Hai winced at the sight of the twisted door, feeling a pang in his jaw.
The pirates, who were in the midst of strategizing, perked up when they noticed damage to the Ghost Ship. Their cannons immediately trained on the target.
As the space around them shattered and the Ghost Ship vanished, Zhang Hai launched a barrage of smoke grenades at the pirates and cranked the engine to full throttle.
The pirates wasted no time in response, unleashing a volley from their Magic Cannons.
Boom! Boom! Boom! The water screen blocked the cannon attacks, but a barrage of Magic Bombs still rained down on his shield.
That very round shattered his shield to pieces.
Zhang Hai was on the verge of swearing. Mist Bombs were being launched in every direction.
At that moment, he had stopped caring about the points.
His gaze turned to the little girl on the deck.
This jerk was still trying to act like Shisan.
"Hey, get back here. You're going to get killed."
The little girl ignored him, but then the system chimed in.
"Ding! The Nether Energy Core has been connected. Dawn is in position."
"What in the world?"
He then saw a blinding white light emanating in front of him.
In this fog-filled environment, it was like a beacon.
"Hahahaha, the fool has revealed himself. Attack!"
The pirates erupted into chaos, pursuing the bright white light and initiating their assault.
"Damn it, is this some kind of betrayal? Is he trying to get me killed?"
But as soon as he finished his thought, a white light swept from the seven o'clock direction to the five o'clock direction. Nearly all the surrounding warships were annihilated by this maneuver.
Screams and explosions erupted simultaneously.
Even the Mist Bombs that had been deployed were dispersed by the attack.
Zhang Hai instinctively touched his neck, realizing that he would have been a goner if that attack had targeted him.
"Ding! Nether Energy consumption: 3,000 points. Remaining: 28 points. Please replenish promptly, Host."
Zhang Hai was livid. The Nether Energy he had so diligently gathered had been obliterated by this reckless little girl.
Though the move was impressive.
It was a massive energy drain. How could he possibly accept that? His family didn't run a power plant. And what was with this overwhelming sense of weakness?
Was he on the brink of collapse?
Dawn was insufferably arrogant.
Upon returning to the Commander Room, she seemed eager to take credit.
But instead, she was met with Zhang Hai's dark and foreboding scowl.
"What... what are you going to do? I'm just a child, you know."
"Get out! From now on, we go our separate ways. You're free now, so let's just part ways."
Upon hearing his words, her large black eyes instantly brimmed with tears.
"Wuwuwu, please don't. I'm really well-behaved."
In Zhang Hai's astonished gaze, she unexpectedly stripped herself bare without any hesitation.
"Master, as long as you don't send me away, you can play however you like."
Just then, Nalan Yunfei hurried in, slipped, and fell flat on her face.
Holding her nose, she caught sight of a naked little girl sitting opposite the captain.
From her perspective, an unsightly scene unfolded in her mind.
Zhang Hai turned and noticed her fall, but didn't pay it much mind.
Such incidents had become all too common.
His face lit up with a radiant smile.
To Nalan Yunfei, however, that smile seemed no different from a demon's.
"Ah! I'm sorry, Captain. I shouldn't have come in. I didn't see anything."
She spoke quickly and darted out, only to be followed by a cacophony of clattering sounds.
Clearly, she had stumbled once more.
Zhang Hai was baffled. Why did her words seem so odd? Had he done something wrong?
He turned back to Chuchu, who looked utterly forlorn, at a loss for what to say.
Especially considering the bizarre notions filling her little head.
As for calling her a little girl, well, that was only endearing when she was trying to be cute.
"Put your clothes on and let's set some ground rules. You are not to engage the Nether Energy Core without my permission, understood?"
"Oh."
The little girl felt slighted. The captain was being overly frugal. It was just a bit of Nether Energy. Was it really worth making such a fuss? She redressed, stealing glances at the captain now and then.
But the more she observed, the more she sensed something amiss. She couldn't shake the feeling that the captain wasn't quite genuine.
Zhang Hai found it odd as well. The Nether Energy Core was the heart of his warship. Since when could a little girl tap into it?
Wasn't that just ludicrous?
"Captain, I believe now is not the time to dwell on these matters. There are numerous warships sinking outside. Aren't you interested in harvesting their cores?"
"Damn! How could I have forgotten about that!"
The recent strike had obliterated hundreds of warships in the vicinity in an instant.
Yet, instead of absorbing the experience, he chose to lash out at the little girl. He must have lost his mind.
Yes, it's got to be a shortage of Nether Energy causing his mental circuits to short-circuit.
The warship wasn't sinking quickly.
But he had absorbed only half of the experience.
Upon inspecting the Warship Experience bar, he stumbled upon something odd.
"System, why is the Barbarian Blood Warship's integrity exceeding 100% and still climbing?"
Now it's over 300%. What in the world is happening?
"Captain, please don't concern yourself with these minor details."
This useless system is being so uncooperative at a time like this; there's definitely something amiss.
