C14 Call Me Daddy
Two sneaky glances emerged at the entrance of the Commander Room. Luo Qian, having heard a noise, stepped out just in time to see Yunfei take a tumble through the air. She remained silent when questioned, prompting his curiosity to check things out. Inside the Commander Room, everything seemed normal, except for the presence of a little girl in a white dress.
"Captain, what's going on here?" Luo Qian inquired, his face showing a hint of disappointment as he hadn't stumbled upon anything scandalous. Nalan Yunfei trailed behind him, her gaze darting away, avoiding eye contact.
Zhang Hai, noticing their arrival, wasn't bothered. "Forget about it. We hardly earned any Refinement Crystals this time. It was a wasted trip."
"Ah? Was the Ghost Ship a fake? It seemed genuine to me."
Dawn remembered something when the topic of Refinement Crystals came up. "Master."
"Master? Call me daddy."
Dawn bristled at the suggestion. "You're trying to take advantage! Don't even dream about it!"
Zhang Hai internally grumbled, realizing this little girl wasn't going to be easily swayed. "Then forget it, 'Captain' will do."
Dawn, slightly miffed, gave a small nod and spoke with a touch of resentment, "Captain, if I'm not mistaken, there's a small island nearby that might still have some of my private money."
Zhang Hai's eyes sparkled at the revelation. The little girl's mysterious origins didn't matter; the prospect of acquiring her savings was enticing. "How much is there?"
The little girl shrugged. "I'm not sure. It probably isn't much, given how long it's been."
Though the response was somewhat disappointing, it was better than nothing. "Alright, we'll check it out. If it's over ten thousand Refinement Crystals, I'll cover your living expenses from now on."
He spoke nonchalantly, unaware that future events would make him regret his words. The warship adjusted its course and sped off in a new direction. Meanwhile, a message was simultaneously dispatched to Blue Flying Free Port.
A floating island had emerged nearby, and the news nearly caused an explosion of excitement at Blue Flying Free Port. It didn't matter whether one had a powerful backing or not; anyone with a warship was racing toward the newly appeared islet. To the denizens of Sea God Star, islands and land were treasures far surpassing the value of Refinement Crystals, especially land, which every force coveted. Possession of land was the key to expanding and strengthening one's domain. The human empires on Sea God Star had all been built upon vast stretches of land. Although it was just an island that had appeared this time, it was enough to drive any person or power to frenzy. Warships in great numbers were mobilized, much to the chagrin of the major families in the port. Initially, the information was known to only a handful, but within half a day, the news had spread throughout the entire port.
After three days at sea, Zhang Hai neared his destination. The radar, cluttered with dense red dots, gave him a headache. "Dawn, are you certain this is the island you spoke of?" The little girl, clutching a large lobster in one hand and a beverage in the other, her mouth greasy, responded indistinctly, "Yes, that's it." Luo Qian, standing nearby with a furrowed brow, chimed in, "Captain, islands and land are highly sought after on Sea God Star. Now that this island has been discovered, it's bound to attract a lot of covetous eyes. That's to be expected." "But isn't this excessive? There must be thousands of warships, right?" Under normal circumstances, Zhang Hai would be thrilled—such a gathering was ripe for gaining experience. But with the warships packed so densely, it was nearly impossible for him to capitalize on the situation. "Does anyone have a solution for these warships?" Dawn asked excitedly, hoisting her lobster triumphantly. "Leave it to me; I can send them to the ocean floor with the Redemption Light in a matter of minutes." Zhang Hai barely spared her a glance. Such a powerful weapon would deplete Nether Energy. And how did that feel? Imagine being overwhelmed by ten girls; not even several tons of goji berries could replenish what was lost. He felt utterly drained.
"Next."
The little girl was ignored, which left her feeling deflated.
She grabbed the large lobster in her hand and bit into it fiercely, not caring whether it was shelled or not, as if she were biting into that jerk, Zhang Hai.
Luo Qian rubbed his hands together, smug as can be.
"Captain, this is exactly the time to use money to crush those losers. If money can solve a problem, then it's not really a problem at all."
Zhang Hai glanced around and his eyes settled on the knight's pike beside the captain.
Hefting it, he found it had a significant weight—suitable for what he had in mind.
"Captain? What are you up to?"
Luo Qian was suddenly anxious, sensing that something bad was about to happen to him.
Zhang Hai flashed a radiant smile, showing no hint of discomfort.
"Obviously, I'm about to take you out. And you still question it?"
"I'd like to see someone try to take me down with their money. And you have the nerve to say such things. Do I look like someone with money to you?"
At that, Luo Qian couldn't help but burst into laughter.
"Captain, my stomach's acting up. I'm going to head out."
With those words, he made a quick exit, not giving Zhang Hai the chance to make a move.
Zhang Hai, annoyed, discarded the pike and turned his attention to Nalan Yunfei.
Seeing her, his irritation vanished, and he looked up at the sky instead.
"Captain, I believe my strategy will work."
Zhang Hai, taken aback, was pleasantly surprised.
The previous two had been utterly unreliable.
He thought it best to reserve judgment on this plan, to see if it could really break their fall.
"Alright, let's hear it."
"Here's what I'm thinking..."
Nalan Yunfei shared her thoughts. Zhang Hai listened, his expression one of amazement.
It seemed he had stumbled upon a gem.
Her proposed strategy was indeed viable, far superior to the half-baked schemes of those two duds.
"Alright, this is a good plan. Let's go with it."
...
As the sky grew dim, she prepared for a major undertaking. Success would mean evolving a Devil Hunting Level Warship in mere minutes.
Meanwhile, not a single person had set foot on the island, as they were all too busy squabbling over its ownership.
Zhang Hai accessed the system menu, expending a hefty three thousand points.
"System, calculate the spiral trajectory."
"Understood, host. The trajectory is now ready."
A curvilinear path materialized in his thoughts, accompanied by a sly grin spreading across his lips.
He stealthily adjusted the Phantom Warship's bearing, and the Torpedoes began their slow advance toward the designated target.
Viewed from above, these Torpedoes were converging on a specific region beneath the cloak of night.
On the outermost edge, a warship traced an arc-shaped course, inching closer to the cluster of vessels ahead.
After a half-hour wait, the moment was synchronized.
All the Mist Torpedoes detonated amidst the warship fleet.
In a flash, a shroud of mist enveloped the vicinity of the fleet.
The shrill sound of alarms pierced the night.
Despite the late hour, vigilance was maintained; the local situation demanded such caution.
Zhang Hai had anticipated all these events.
Naturally, he would never concede that Nalan Yunfei had informed him of these details.
