C16 Let Me Give You a Shot

Without uttering another word, he snapped his fingers. Skeletons materialized in dense clusters all around.

"Move all of these back."

Zhang Hai's body lacked an entrance to the Dimension Space. The only way to access the battleship's warehouse was through the most basic method of transportation.

The skeletons worked diligently, yet the quantity they could carry each time was somewhat insufficient.

At this rate, it would take at least three or four trips.

At the moment, Dawn's whereabouts were unknown.

She was nowhere to be seen.

With his eyes fixated on the Refinement Crystals, Zhang Hai had no inclination to worry about her.

Watching the skeletons busily transport the goods like industrious ants was immensely satisfying.

Meanwhile, on the other side, someone had finally noticed something unusual on the floating island.

"Clan Master, there's trouble. Someone has stealthily made their way onto the floating island and appears to be moving something."

"What!"

The elder was instantly irate upon hearing this.

Grabbing the horn, he broadcasted the news.

The others were perplexed upon hearing it; all their people were accounted for. Who would dare to steal at such a time?

After a brief consultation, they resolved to deploy their full strength to intercept the thieves.

They would later interrogate and identify the culprits.

No family objected. They were certain that they had no connection to this incident.

Tens of thousands of people ascended the floating island with great fanfare.

This solid footing was far more reassuring than the fluctuating sensations of the Free City.

"Captain, we've detected a significant number of life forms approaching."

Zhang Hai's brow furrowed as he observed the scanner's display.

The sudden influx of people indicated that the ship's crew had disembarked.

Their covert operation was at risk of being exposed.

But with so many Refinement Crystals at stake, surrender was out of the question.

He quickly devised a plan.

The warriors hastened to the city wall's gate and secured it shut.

Now, his priority was to buy as much time as possible.

The enemies, upon reaching the city wall and beholding the grand palace, grew even more eager.

"Charge together! Anyone who contributes will earn the right to reside on this floating island!"

The Wong family elder spoke up immediately, as though the island was already under their control.

Despite their dissatisfaction, the group responded with vigor.

They were, after all, insignificant compared to these powerful families.

"Charge!"

The crowd brandished their scimitars, rushing toward the gate with a fierce battle cry.

Though their path was blocked, there were two smaller gates to the side.

These could accommodate three people abreast, but made for a challenging battleground.

Zhang Hai had chosen this strategic location deliberately, positioning all his warriors accordingly.

If the main gate failed, their only option would be to flee.

The clanging of metal on metal echoed as the group focused their assault on the gate.

To their dismay, the gate's durability far exceeded their expectations.

Eventually, some attempted to breach the smaller side entrances.

But a forceful blow from a shield sent them reeling back.

They were merely expendable troops, lacking any advanced magical artifacts.

Consequently, the side entrances were securely blockaded.

Zhang Hai's brow furrowed in concern.

Seeing the gate's bolts beginning to give way, he knew it wouldn't withstand much longer.

Without attending to his warriors, he submerged the Shuttle Warship and navigated swiftly through the broad channel toward the docks.

If the spoils here were at risk, he'd target the enemy's warships instead.

A succession of explosions erupted at the docks.

The Torpedo assault left the numerous warships incapacitated.

The enemy had been preoccupied with the skirmish on the floating island, oblivious to the stealthy attack from behind.

The unexpected blasts sent them into a panic.

"Enemy attack!"

"Sound the alarm, quickly!"

As flames engulfed the sky, Zhang Hai recognized the lucrative opportunity, far surpassing the profits from transporting Refinement Crystals.

"Ding! Barbarian Blood Warship Core obtained. Blueprint completion: 500%."

"Ding! Devil Hunting Warship Core obtained. Blueprint completion: 60%."

"Ding! Eight Magic Cannons obtained."

"Ding! You have obtained..."

A cascade of system alerts rang out, leaving Zhang Hai's ears buzzing and slightly numb. He promptly switched to silent mode, no longer interested in inspecting the contents of the warehouse. The inventory list was updating continuously anyway.

The items weren't particularly impressive, but the sheer volume was staggering. In under ten minutes, his assault had reduced thousands of warships to mere hundreds. These warships, lacking sufficient crew to fight, were incapable of mounting an effective counterattack.

Upon seeing the enemy finally activate their shields, Zhang Hai's face broke into a relieved smile. "Charge the main cannon. Fire!"

The Shuttle Warship split open beneath the water, resembling a budding rose. A black beam of light surged from the depths, piercing the sky in an instant. A closer look would reveal that the magic power on the surrounding shields was nearly all drawn to the black beam. As it fired, the vast magic power flowed back into the core of the Shuttle Warship.

This exhilarating moment dispelled any prior sense of weakness. [Ding! 10,000 points of Nether Energy absorbed.] Even in silent mode, the special notifications persisted.

It was a shame, though, that the firing angle wasn't optimal. Had it been a direct shot from the water's surface, he might have penetrated twenty to thirty thousand points of Nether Energy.

The little girl was beside herself with excitement, feeling the immense energy emanating from the warship. She pleaded sweetly, "Big brother captain, let me have another shot. Please?"

Zhang Hai couldn't help but feel amused at Chuchu's forlorn expression. "Call me daddy."

"You!" The little girl was on the verge of losing her temper, but the thought of Nether Energy made her hesitate.

"Daddy."

Pleased, Zhang Hai affectionately tousled her hair. "Alright, you can have one shot. But it can only use up 1,000 points of Nether Energy."

With an abundance of Nether Energy at his disposal and knowing his own firepower paled in comparison to hers, he was eager to see the splendid results of letting her take another shot.

Despite having access to only 1,000 points of Nether Energy, the little girl was filled with joy.

In an instant, her figure vanished within the warship.

The next moment, she was hovering above the sea's surface.

[Ding! Dawn has connected to the Nether Energy Core. 1,000 points of Nether Energy have been authorized.]

On Dawn's metallic spear, the black Nether Energy began to gather.

She crouched slightly, leaning her petite upper body forward—a stance reminiscent of an infantry charge, though the spear in her hands looked somewhat unusual.

Dawn's lips curled into an enchanting smile, yet her gaze was deadly serious.

"Spinning Strike!"

With a thrust of her spear, a streak of white light surged along her weapon.

What puzzled him, though, was that her attack seemed to inflict no damage whatsoever on the warships.
