C6 Kind like a Little Sheep
The magic weapons wielded by both parties were effective only at close quarters.
Suddenly, the main propulsion engine burst forth with tremendous force, sending a massive wave surging ahead.
He deftly maneuvered his body, executing evasive drifts within a confined space.
Many pirates, poised to board, were struck by the hull of his ship, thrown into disarray. Their initial plans to board were now significantly hindered.
"Boss, this kid is pretty sly. The brothers can't get close," one pirate lamented.
Hsiang Yuan, clearly not blind, had already noticed.
The issue was no longer about closing the distance.
Hadn't they seen themselves being relentlessly pursued by the enemy?
It was common knowledge that the Floating Ring's effect was time-sensitive. Once the duration expired, it would cease to function, and the outcome was predictable.
He retrieved a palm-sized scroll from his pocket.
"What's this?"
Shan Pao was puzzled; the object resembled a scroll.
Yet, such items didn't come cheap, and he was unsure of its purpose.
Hsiang Yuan unfurled the scroll and channeled his magical energy into it.
In a flash, the scroll transformed into a cluster of light and vanished into thin air.
Simultaneously, Zhang Hai, thoroughly enjoying himself until now, was shocked to find himself encircled by a barrier of water. His agile drifting was abruptly thwarted.
A crease formed on his brow.
"It's a water prison!"
Shan Pao finally identified the artifact. Such magic scrolls fetched a market price of around two thousand Refinement Crystals.
Their leader was indeed going all-in for this venture.
Hsiang Yuan felt a sting at the expense. Yet, if things continued as they were, the outcome remained uncertain.
At present, they weren't the only ones with their sights set on this group. Decisive action was needed to secure victory.
With Zhang Hai's mobility compromised, the pirates at sea erupted in cheers. Without hesitation, they scaled the water wall and leaped onto the warship.
The fight resumed. However, the ship's deck was only so large.
And most of it was already dominated by Zhang Hai's skeletons.
The hapless pirates who leaped aboard were essentially marching to their doom.
Seeing this, Hsiang Yuan grasped his weapon and stepped forward, ready for battle.
Under his command, the Devil Hunting Level Warship swiftly closed in on the targeted area. The onboard Demon-Hunting Gravity Field was activated without delay. The Devil Hunters aboard drew their magic longbows and launched an assault on the battlefield.
The barrage of arrows irked Hsiang Yuan. The one-sided slaughter was now being interrupted by this unexpected volley. If this persisted, the outcome was predictable.
After a brief contemplation, he accessed the System Merchant Shop and immediately spotted the Smoke Bomb in his favorites. Without hesitation, he deployed it around himself.
In a flash, the battlefield was shrouded in a thick fog, leaving the Devil Hunters bewildered by their thwarted long-range attacks.
"Boss, what's our next move?"
"Hmph, fire at will. I refuse to believe this won't work."
He was indifferent to the possibility of friendly casualties.
The barrage of long-range fire persisted, oblivious to the fact that the Phantom Warship had engaged its protective shield. Their own attacks were inadvertently striking the shield and their allies outside of it.
The frontline troops were unaware of the chaos unfolding behind them and continued to seek opportunities to land.
As the battle waged on, the soldiers accrued an increasing amount of combat experience, leading to the hatching of even more warriors. Gradually, the tide of the battlefield began to shift.
[Ding! Your Nether Energy has reached 3,000. The Nether Energy Gravity Field is now available for activation.]
Zhang Hai's curiosity was piqued.
"System, what exactly is the Nether Energy Gravity Field?"
"Captain, the Nether Energy Gravity Field serves many purposes. Currently, it can amplify the Barbarian Blood Gravity Field, significantly enhancing a warrior's attributes in a brief span."
Zhang Hai inhaled sharply. This was far beyond a mere doubling of power. Attack, defense, agility, skills—every aspect was boosted by a staggering 100%.
"Activate it."
"Affirmative."
In an instant, the pale hue of the Barbarian Blood Gravity Field deepened to a sinister blood-red. A mysterious power began to emanate from it, transforming all the skeletons and warriors into what seemed like bloodthirsty demons, their eyes glowing red as they brandished their scimitars and surged forward.
The screams on the battlefield dwindled rapidly. Yet, one glimpse at the gruesome scene made the reason painfully clear.
Every target they hit was cleaved in two without a chance to utter a scream. Even as a warship, Zhang Hai felt a chill run through him at the sight.
Only he knew which part of his scalp was tingling.
Blood spread across the sea's surface. Hsiang Yuan slowly sensed that something was amiss.
Then, as the fog began to clear, they could finally see the grim reality within.
"Boss, boss," Shanpao stammered, his legs trembling as he gazed upon the sea of floating corpses.
They had been ruthless in the past, but compared to this carnage, they seemed as innocent as lambs.
Hsiang Yuan's face darkened. But by then, words were futile.
"Full speed ahead, maintain a distance of one mile. Let's kite them to death."
The archers aboard the Devil Hunting Level Warship wasted no time with words, ignoring the crippled vessels as they drew their bows and launched their assault.
This time, Hsiang Yuan joined the fray.
A Wind Attribute Mage with exceptional archery skills, his magical prowess might have been lacking, but that didn't hinder his abilities as a formidable Devil Hunter Archer.
Arrows whistled through the air towards them.
Zhang Hai noticed something unique about these arrows.
His shield was depleting rapidly; it wouldn't hold out much longer.
His gaze fell upon the Devil Hunter warship with a mix of pity and a cold smirk curled his lips.
"Activate skill, Accelerate."
Hsiang Yuan knew that while the Barbarian Blood Level Warship was swift, the core of his Devil Hunting Warship, empowered with the Wind Attribute, granted him a 30% speed boost.
Not even the Barbarian Blood Warship could match his 60 knots.
But when he witnessed the despair-inducing speed of the opposing vessel, he was utterly dismayed.
"Damn it! What kind of warship is that?! How can it be so fast?!"
A standard Barbarian Blood Level Warship could reach fifty knots, but the one before him seemed to fly across the water.
At a bare minimum, there were 300 knots.
Zhang Hai maneuvered his body and, with astonishing speed, struck the enemy's rear.
He amassed a series of Warship Experience points.
Anytime his ship or its onboard firepower inflicted damage on an enemy warship, he would earn the corresponding Warship Experience.
Moreover, elevating his warship to Level Nine would double his combat capabilities.
Thus, after acquiring a certain item, he conceived a wildly audacious plan.
