C10 Blocking the Door
After some time had passed, Ye Chenxi tugged at Chu Qing's sleeve and announced, "Chu Qing, we need to get off now!" With a sigh of relief, the golden hue in Chu Qing's eyes faded away.
"We should head out," said Chu Qing.
It wasn't until they reached Ye Chenxi's home that Chu Qing truly grasped the enormity of an Ancient Martial family.
Ye Chenxi's residence was nothing short of opulent—a sprawling villa in the heart of the city, a testament to absolute authority.
At the entrance, the woman in black Chu Qing had previously encountered at the bar was already there, awaiting their arrival. She hurried over as soon as she spotted Ye Chenxi.
"Miss, you've finally returned!" exclaimed the woman in black.
"What's the situation at home?" inquired Ye Chenxi.
Now, Ye Chenxi exuded the commanding presence of a leader, her invisible aura enveloping her. Chu Qing, however, remained entirely unaffected by it. He couldn't forget that this formidable woman had recently shed tears before him.
"The situation is dire. Ye Mei has decreed that no one but you may enter," the woman in black reported.
"That woman is nothing but a traitor!" Ye Chenxi spat out in fury.
Her aura intensified. Without Chu Qing's assistance, she wouldn't have made it back in time, and her mother would have been in real peril.
Ye Mei, the woman in question, was none other than Ye Chenxi's Third Aunt. Her mother had warned her of Ye Mei's underhanded dealings within the family over the years, suspecting her of collusion with other prominent families. Yet, without solid proof, her mother had refrained from taking action against Ye Mei.
Ye Chenxi hadn't anticipated Ye Mei's preemptive strike.
Noticing the woman in black hiding her face, Ye Chenxi sensed trouble. "Xiaoqing, why cover your face? Show me," she commanded.
Reluctantly, Xiaoqing removed her hand, revealing a vivid palm print.
"Ye Mei did this to you?" Ye Chenxi pressed.
Xiaoqing nodded in confirmation.
"This is outrageous. Chu Qing, we're leaving," declared Ye Chenxi.
Chu Qing shared her anger, having a good idea of the events that had transpired. Ye Mei's malice was apparent, and without Chu Qing's intervention, the outcome could have been disastrous.
Ye Chenxi's timely arrival was crucial. Had her mother passed away, Ye Chenxi's standing within the Ye family would have been all but lost.
As they stepped through the main entrance, two individuals blocked their path, inquiring, "Hold on, who is this young man?"
"He's with me," Ye Chenxi retorted sharply. "Do you intend to stop him?"
Clearly, these were not Ye Chenxi's people; they were likely Ye Mei's. The home Ye Chenxi had left just days ago had undergone a seismic shift in her absence.
Mockingly, they said, "Miss, the Ye family is in a delicate state. No outsiders are permitted entry."
Ye Chenxi, incensed, bellowed, "The audacity! Who gave you such orders?" She was on the brink of action when Qing restrained her, preventing a point of no return.
Chu Qing then coolly interjected, "I am a doctor." It was a plausible cover, and in the Alien World, Chu Qing had indeed delved into the medical arts. But his focus wasn't on conventional healing; he used Spiritual Energy to cure and save lives—a practice likely unheard of among Ancient Martial families. After all, no cultivator on this planet had mastered Spiritual Energy to such an extent.
"Are you a doctor? Since when can men be doctors?" jeered the woman on the left.
Her companion chuckled along, "How could a man possibly be a doctor?"
Chu Qing simply smiled back at the woman who mocked him and replied, "With just one glance, I can tell you've been suffering from a gynecological condition for years."
At his words, the woman was left without a comeback.
Turning to the other woman, Chu Qing observed, "Your kidneys aren't in good shape. I suspect it's related to your years of practicing ancient martial arts. Plus, you've been taking Chinese medicine for a long time with little to no improvement, right?"
The door-guarding woman opened her mouth to respond, but Chu Qing's accurate assessment left her speechless.
The two women exchanged a look. They had intended to trouble Ye Chenxi, but Chu Qing's skills were undeniable. If they continued to deny entry to Ye Chenxi and her companions, they would surely face consequences. So, they stepped aside and allowed them to enter.
Ye Chenxi was still fuming, but Chu Qing wore a serene smile as they crossed the threshold together.
Upon entering, they were approached by the two women, followed by four female bodyguards who blocked their path.
Ye Chenxi's gaze burned with fury at the sight of the woman with the small fan, laughing softly. "Ye Mei!" she exclaimed.
Hiding behind her fan, Ye Mei feigned distress, "Chenxi, it's a good thing you returned when you did. Who knows what might have happened otherwise."
Ye Chenxi's anger intensified. She was ready to unleash her pent-up energy and strike Ye Mei down.
But just as she was about to act, Chu Qing, who had been quiet until now, stepped in to halt her advance.
Ye Chenxi instantly realized that Ye Mei was deliberately goading her. If she struck now, she would be accused of attacking an elder, and regardless of her mother's condition, she would face severe repercussions.
In a prestigious family like the Ye family, without concrete evidence, one must never rashly attack another.
"Ye Mei, where's my mother? May I see her first?" Ye Chenxi asked.
"You lack manners. You should address me as Third Aunt," Ye Mei responded.
