C13 Ye Qingmei

"Second Aunt, I'd like him to come in with me. He has some medical expertise," Ye Chenxi stated earnestly.

Second Aunt paused, taken aback by Ye Chenxi's solemn demeanor. She couldn't imagine Ye Chenxi causing trouble at such a pivotal time.

It appeared Ye Qingmei was correct; passing on the Ye family's Ancient Martial Arts to Ye Chenxi was premature.

After a moment's consideration, Second Aunt nodded reluctantly. She had no choice but to allow the man to accompany Ye Chenxi. In the Ye family, after all, Ye Chenxi's word carried more weight than hers.

"Alright. I'll lead the way," Second Aunt acquiesced.

They followed her for a few more minutes before reaching a villa.

Second Aunt ushered them directly into Ye Qingmei's room.

"Mom!" The sight of the pale woman on the bed nearly brought Ye Chenxi to tears as she approached.

Ye Qingmei's eyes fluttered open, revealing her frail state.

"Chenxi," she murmured, caressing her daughter's head.

"Who is this?" Ye Qingmei inquired, noticing Chu Qing at the doorway.

Chu Qing, feeling somewhat out of place, touched his nose. His initial plan had been a simple meal with Ye Chenxi, not a visit with her mother.

"Mom, he's a friend and a fellow cultivator," Ye Chenxi introduced.

"It's rare to find young men dedicated to cultivation these days," Ye Qingmei observed.

Despite her weakness, Ye Qingmei's gaze was warm and affectionate as she watched her daughter. She was well aware of Chenxi's character. Chenxi had many friends, yet this was the first time she had brought a young man home.

"Mrs. Ye, I'm a physician. May I examine you?" Chu Qing offered respectfully.

Chu Qing was well-mannered, but he sensed a hint of skepticism in Ye Chenxi's mother's eyes.

"Thank you, Chenxi, for your concern. But I'm quite familiar with my own condition," Ye Qingmei declined gently.

Clearly, Ye Qingmei was hesitant to have Chu Qing treat her.

Chu Qing paused, realizing Ye Qingmei's doubt. The matriarch who commanded Jin City's underworld would naturally be proud, and in this world, most renowned doctors were women.

"Mom, please let him check. He's an exceptional healer! If he hadn't assisted me today, I might have sustained serious injuries," Ye Chenxi implored.

Ye Qingmei's curiosity was piqued by her daughter's high praise of the young man. She wondered, "Is there truly something extraordinary about him?"

Chu Qing closed his eyes, his Spiritual Energy transforming into a perceptive force that filled the room, enveloping Ye Qingmei within its scope.

"You've been ambushed. The assailant struck your left back with a palm strike infused with malicious energy, forcing you to divert most of your Genuine Qi to counteract it. This condition is likely to persist for several days," Chu Qing diagnosed.

"During this time, your body will be particularly vulnerable as your Genuine Qi is preoccupied with fending off this malevolent force. Am I correct?" he concluded.

Ye Qingmei's expression shifted subtly at his words.

"Chenxi, step outside for a moment. I'd like to speak with him privately," Ye Qingmei requested.

Her demeanor remained composed, yet the look she gave Chu Qing was now tinged with a new respect.

"Okay." Ye Chenxi held her mother in high regard, so once Ye Qingmei had finished speaking, she promptly exited the room and gently shut the door behind her.

"Now, let's get down to business," Ye Qingmei stated.

Propping herself up with effort, Ye Qingmei sat up in bed and rested against the pillows. Her smile had vanished, replaced by a stern look.

A palpable presence began to fill the room. Ye Qingmei was more than just Ye Chenxi's mother; she was the formidable matriarch ruling over Jin City's underworld. Her power was not to be taken lightly.

Chu Qing's brow furrowed. Ye Qingmei's might far exceeded his expectations; they weren't even in the same league. After all, Chu Qing had only been cultivating in this body for a handful of days.

Still, Ye Qingmei wouldn't be able to overpower him with her aura alone.

With a grunt, Chu Qing released a subtle divine glow from his being, and a commanding energy started to permeate the room. The air itself seemed to hum with the sound of a sword's song.

Chu Qing was no ordinary figure. He was a prodigious Sword Immortal!
