C2 His Sister Had Changed!
Watching his sister's eyes sparkle and her breath grow heavier, Chu Qing stealthily backed out of the room and gently closed the door behind him, a blush creeping onto his face.
Honestly, Chu Qing had never imagined he'd witness such a scene!
Luckily, his sister hadn't caught him sneaking in.
After a bit, he knocked loudly on the door and called out, "Sis, dinner's ready."
He then heard a clamor of tables and chairs from inside. Half a minute later, Chu Xiao emerged, her cheeks flushed with a touch of allure.
"Sis, you weren't watching porn in there, were you?"
He didn't call her out, but Chu Qing couldn't resist ribbing her a little.
"Porn's old news. It's all about live streams now! There was this super hot guy on just a minute ago," Chu Xiao said, still seemingly enchanted, before shooting Chu Qing a look and dismissing him with a wave, "I shouldn't be talking about this with you. You're just a kid, after all."
She sashayed to the bathroom, and soon after, she reappeared in a revealing outfit.
As she headed for the living room, Chu Xiao said with impatience, "I'm meeting a friend for dinner tonight. I'll be home late."
"You're out every night until 2 a.m. Do you ever think about your future?"
Lin Yuantu, carrying a pot of fish soup, overheard his daughter and bristled.
Chu Xiao arched an eyebrow and retorted, "Dad, you're not seeing the big picture. I'm networking. A friend wants me to go into business with her."
She then reached out her hand, grinning, "Dad, I need a thousand yuan to start."
"What do you need the money for?"
"I've got to spend to socialize. I can't expect others to always pick up the tab!"
Lin Yuantu was livid, glaring at her as he spoke, "If only you were as well-behaved as your brother, I wouldn't have to worry."
"Boys should be gentle. He might end up marrying into wealth. But I need to build my own career. I'm learning from a friend who's in business."
Chu Xiao shook her head, adding, "Besides, I'll be the one supporting you and mom in the future. My brother will marry off. You should treat me better, Dad."
Lin Yuantu was a mix of anger and resignation as he reluctantly pulled out a thousand yuan.
"I understand women need to network, but don't waste money. Your friends are all about fun; none have any real talent."
"Don't worry, Dad. I'm not that naive!"
Chu Xiao flaunted the cash with a giggle, then slipped into her high heels and left.
Chu Qing inhaled sharply, stunned. His once demure sister had changed so much.
Lin Yuantu turned to him, his tone grave, "Qing, don't take after your sister."
"Dad, you're not going to stop her?" Chu Qing was bewildered.
"What can I do? Chu Xiao is a girl. I can't just tie her down at home like I could with you. A woman needs to make her own way. But Chu Xiao is just too headstrong. As long as she stays out of trouble, that's all that matters."
With a heavy sigh, Lin Yuantu retreated to the kitchen, leaving Chu Qing at a loss for words.
This damn world!
Later, his mother, Chu Tiannan, came home, her face etched with fatigue from the day's work.
"Mom!"
It had been 300 years since Chu Qing last saw his mother. The sight of her familiar face filled him with excitement, and he rushed to embrace her.
In this world, children take their mother's surname!
Chu Tiannan, beaming with joy as her son hugged her, asked with a smile, "Qing, what's gotten into you, hugging me all of a sudden? Are you running low on spending money?"
She then cheerfully pulled out several hundred yuan and pressed it into Chu Qing's hands.
Chu Qing was taken aback once more. In his past life, Chu Tiannan was known to be tightfisted. The mere thought of getting ten yuan from her for a gaming session at the internet cafe was out of the question. And yet, here she was, offering him pocket money without any prompting.
"Mom, I don't need the money."
Aware of the family's current financial struggles, Chu Qing declined the offer.
"Silly boy, just take it," Chu Tiannan insisted warmly. "We may be facing some financial difficulties, but I still want to give you some pocket money. Your excellent grades make me so proud."
"Where's Chu Xiao?" she inquired offhandedly.
"She's out causing trouble again," Lin Yuantu replied, shaking his head with a sigh.
"Don't worry about her," Chu Tiannan reassured him. "I used to go out and have my fun when I was young, and that's how I ended up with you."
She tossed her briefcase onto the sofa and settled in, casting a glance at her husband. "I'm right, aren't I? We should dote on our son more and not fret too much over our daughter. Chu Xiao will benefit from experiencing the world. It's only through hardship that she'll grow wiser."
"You're right," he agreed.
Lin Yuantu scurried to serve Chu Tiannan tea and even brought the meal to her. Watching this, Chu Qing was utterly dumbfounded.
"Is this what a man's life is like in this world? I don't want any part of this!" he thought to himself.
Chu Qing pondered his future.
Post-dinner, Chu Tiannan reclined on the couch to watch TV, while Lin Yuantu busied himself cleaning. Chu Qing observed the domestic scene with mixed emotions before retreating to his room.
The room struck him as exceptionally tidy and spacious, not at all like a typical boy's room but more akin to a girl's boudoir.
Even a full-length mirror was embedded in the wall. The reflection showed a young man with a hint of boyish charm and a dash of handsomeness, prompting a wry smile from Chu Qing.
New information began to surface in his mind. For instance, in this matriarchal world, families had long preferred daughters, leading to a severe gender imbalance over thousands of years!
In fact, there were still millions of single women in the country! A woman needed to own property and a vehicle to attract a desirable husband.
Men, on the other hand, could secure a good match simply by being attractive. It seemed that such men were the dream spouses for countless women.
It was then that Chu Qing remembered he was considered the "School Belle" of Jinmen City's Second High School!
The reality was hard for Chu Qing to grasp, but as he opened his desk drawer and found it brimming with love letters, all bearing his name, the truth was undeniable.
Moreover, each letter contained words of affection meant for him.
The whole situation was beyond Chu Qing's comprehension.
With a resigned chuckle, he mused, "Well, I might as well make the best of it."
Settling onto his bed, he crossed his legs and closed his eyes.
Moments later, his face lit up with delight as he exclaimed, "The Spiritual Energy here is incredibly rich!"
In his past life, Chu Qing was a disciple of the Heaven-seeking Sword Sect in the Cultivation World, where he mastered a mysterious and formidable sword technique. Now, despite losing all his cultivation in the Space-time Tunnel, Chu Qing was confident he could reclaim his powers and once again traverse the Space-time Tunnel.
Determined, Chu Qing vowed to make his way back to the normal Earth as quickly as possible. Glancing at the clock, he noticed it was already half past midnight. Without hesitation, Chu Qing commenced his practice of the Ultimate Dao Freedom Technique. As he channeled Spiritual Energy into his ears, the soft, rhythmic breathing of his parents reached him from their bedroom, signaling they were sound asleep.
But his sister's room was silent. "Hasn't my sister come home yet?" Chu Qing wondered aloud. A moment of confusion passed before he remembered—in this world, the social norms for men and women were reversed. It wouldn't be unusual for his sister to come home at two in the morning.
His thoughts were interrupted by the ringing of his phone. Answering the call, Chu Qing exclaimed, "Elder Sister?"
"Qing!" Chu Xiao's voice was laced with urgency. "I've run into some trouble. Listen, don't tell our parents and don't call the police. Ah! There's a dark bag under my bed. I need you to bring it to me right away. I'm at the Crescent Bar on Sea Street, I..."
Her words were cut off as the phone was abruptly snatched away, and a woman's mocking voice followed, "Kid, if you want your sister safe, bring that bag to me without any tricks! I'm in room 302!"
A frown creased Chu Qing's brow. His gut feeling was that his sister had stirred up some serious trouble. With a resigned shake of his head, he vanished from his room in a swift motion. Seconds later, he emerged from his sister's room, a deep black bag in hand, moving in utter silence. His eyes glowed like beacons in the dark.
"No one can harm my family," Chu Qing whispered fiercely to himself. He then dashed to the window and leapt from the fifth floor, his silhouette merging with the shadows as he disappeared into the night.
