C8 End paragraph
When Ah Tong woke up, he informed the Taoist in a way I could not understand. He told me that the Taoist would arrive in an hour.
I don't know how He Xiu's current situation is. The clamor outside is still going on. I pushed open the door and went out. There was a fire at the village entrance, and there was a clamor. Although I couldn't hear what it was, there was a chorus of voices.
The pain in my body prevented me from running. I could only slowly walk in that direction. All I saw was He Xiu being surrounded and tied up.
The leader was still Uncle Zhou. He really wasn't someone who was easy to deal with. Fortunately, He Xiu was covered in talismans and had yet to wake up. Otherwise, who knew what would happen?
I pushed my way through the crowd and stood in the innermost circle. Uncle Zhou urged us: This crazy woman village is beyond cure. Previously, she was just crazily killing livestock to scare children. Today, she killed four people, including the butcher, Zhang, in front of me.
He deserved to die a thousand deaths!
What a good phrase, "You deserve to die a thousand times for your crimes". This phrase seemed to describe him perfectly. If it wasn't for Zhou Ling.
Strange, why should I think about her.
He Xiu's "way of dying" was said by some to have been burned, others to have been drowned in the river, and some to have been buried alive.
But I think they still need to think about how to save their lives.
Vice Village Chief Zhou was still inciting the villagers' emotions. Some of them even took out their hoes, wishing that they could kill He Xiu with one hoe.
However, all of this was caused by Vice Village Chief Zhou. If they had not thought about He Xiu's beauty and forced her to such a state, things would not have turned out this way.
I couldn't stand it anymore so I shouted, "Village Chief Zhou!"
He looked at me and smiled contemptuously. I don't know how many times I saw it on his face, but I wanted to punch him in the face.
"Yo, everyone, look who's here. Isn't this my daughter's husband, Chen Liang!?" His sarcastic words were like silver needles stabbing into his heart. Why did Uncle Zhou become like this? Although he was not a good Village Head before, he was at least a good uncle.
I suppressed my anger and didn't have the strength to get angry now. I waited until the villagers quieted down and started pointing at me, then I said, Chief Zhou, can you just grab onto someone's tail and not let go?
Uncles and aunties, calm down. I know what you think of me, but can you listen to a few words of mine?
My words did some good, and some people cursed me for a fart.
"Let me ask you, when Auntie He Xiu married over, who didn't think she was pretty?"
None of the men answered my question, but a few of the women cursed.
"She is a vixen. When she marries into the village, that damned person in my house stares at her everyday with shining eyes!"
"You say that she is a slut, but the last time she came to my house to borrow rice, she was wearing a translucent white short-sleeved shirt. I'm afraid that no one would not know that she is wearing a red bra!"
With just a few words, the woman's curses were the most terrifying. Even if she were to curse, it would be unstoppable.
I nodded, agreeing with them, and they shut their mouths, feeling the world grow quieter.
Chief Zhou told me to shut up, but in this situation, everyone else was more willing to listen to what I had to say.
I asked another question: a woman like He Xiu, her husband suddenly died. Do you think that the previously hungry men didn't have any thoughts, Chief Zhou?
I purposely added the words "Village Chief Zhou" at the end, as if to lure him to the matter. According to He Xiu, the Village Chief Zhou was one of them.
Vice Village Chief Zhou was obviously evading. He wanted to bring the topic back to how he had killed He Xiu, but halfway through his words, a hand shot out from the center of his neck.
In the next second, the corpses were separated from their bodies, scaring all of the villagers into fleeing in all directions. I stood in my original spot as she flew over my head and directly pounced on the villagers behind me, causing blood to splatter everywhere.
I turned my head and looked into her eyes. My bloodstained face was filled with killing intent as I subconsciously protected my body.
She flew at me, and I dodged to the side, fingernails brushing my face, leaving a scar.
I turned to her, to prevent another attack.
She was staring straight at me, and the pressure made me sweat. I had learned the truth about her two days ago, and now I was going to make an enemy of her.
She was running like a dog, so fast that I didn't have time to react. I grabbed her arm with both hands, but my strength was incredible.
I felt as if my wrist was about to break. My fingernails were about seven centimeters away from my eyes. Blood dripped from my fingertips onto the space between my eyebrows. There was still some warmth.
I couldn't hold on any longer, so I let go of the strength in my hands and rolled backwards, kicking her away from me.
As soon as I regained my balance, she pounced on me, her hand about to pierce through my body.
A silhouette appeared in front of me. Dressed in a Dove, he waved his hand and knocked He Xiu against the door, leaving a large hole in it.
"Brat, you really are reckless. You almost lost your life." The Taoist gave me a bottle of water to drink, and my body felt like it had exploded. These two days felt like a lifetime of injuries.
This is the third time that Taoist saved my life. He Xiu still wanted to resist, but a talisman was placed on her forehead. It was as if she was embedded inside a door.
The Taoist slowly walked in front of He Xiu, who bared his fangs and brandished his claws, but there was nothing he could do.
The Taoist walked in front of her and muttered something. Suddenly, he turned his head and asked me what was He Xiu's husband's name. His expression didn't seem suitable for the current situation.
I was stunned for a moment before spitting out a name — Liang Shu.
The next move of the Taoist did not occur to me at all. He gently touched He Xiu's head and called out her husband's name.
"Liang Shu, I know that you are always worried about your own wife, so you are not willing to be reincarnated. You want to protect your wife, right? But you don't have the ability."
"Now you used the price of being unable to exceed yourself to become a malicious ghost. This isn't worth it. Your wife will be able to live a normal life in the future, so don't worry."
I looked at He Xiu. Her emotions had clearly calmed down a lot. I called her 'Auntie He Xiu'.
These past ten years of pretending to be crazy and playing dumb had been too arduous. Village Chief Zhou was already dead, and the few fellows who had wanted to humiliate her were also dead, so there was no need to harm innocent people.
After the purple smoke dispersed, He Xiu no longer moved. It was the end of the story.
The Taoist accompanied me home. He looked at my wounds and said that they were fine. On the contrary, Zhou Ling's injuries were not light.
When I asked him if there was anything he could do for her, he shook his head.
"I want her out of my body, if I may." My words, the Taoist asked me if I had thought them through, and I nodded.
He didn't say anything. He just told me that he had no choice but to find his junior brother, the "old playmate" he told me before.
"Dao leader, do you know where your old playmate is right now?"
I don't know exactly where he is. Last time he told me he seemed to be in a place called Yuyang Village.
His parents packed their bags and decided to stay at his grandfather's house for the time being to avoid the events of the past few days.
I followed Ah Tong and Taoist Priest back to Pure Heart Monastery. I don't know what kind of feelings I have for Zhou Ling, but she is not my wife.
But for my sake, she became like this, unconscious all the time, and I blamed her in my heart.
She did not care about the old playmate that the Taoist mentioned, nor where he was currently. However, if she could not find him, Zhou Ling would not be able to wake up for the time being.
This trip down the mountain was inevitable, but the Taoist saved me once more, and I don't know when we will meet again.
Before I left, the Taoist gave me two talismans and even asked me to bring someone with me. It was Ah Tong. This brat was simply a burden to me.
Just because he saved me once, this time, the mountain is hanging around my neck. I know the Taoist's intentions.
When he was born, Ah Tong's parents sent him to the temple. He hasn't seen the market at the foot of the mountain, so this opportunity allowed him to accompany me.
That kid has a good relationship with me, so of course he would agree to it.
The problem was that it would take him at least four days to get to the next village, and there wasn't even a single means of transportation in the monastery.
He could only walk forward.
