C13 Jiaang Han's Revenge
Gong Qian stepped outside, pulling the door closed behind him as he walked away alone.
Yuh Wenming extracted another letter, pondering whether Wenn Zheming had left anything else for him.
He carefully unfolded the letter to reveal some basic training techniques.
If he kept up with the exercises as instructed, his body would gradually feel lighter and more at ease.
Once, they might have put stock in such practices, but those days were gone—no one believed anymore.
Slipping the letter into his pocket, he mused aloud, "I'll look into this more once I'm back at school."
A subtle smile played across his face as he scrutinized the letter, confident in how to proceed.
Gong Qian rose and opened the door, signaling Yuh Wenming to step out.
"Make sure you've got everything; I've handed over everything in the box. There's nothing left on my end."
They were somewhat anxious about Yuh Wenming potentially losing something on their turf, which would spell disaster for them.
The training methods weren't meant for confined spaces; they were to be explored back at school.
As Yuh Wenming made to leave, Gong Qian gestured towards the restaurant across the way. "Gong Yu will be back shortly. How about joining us for a bite?"
Yuh Wenming declined the offer of food, shaking his head. "No need. I'm better off heading to school."
Descending the stairs, he immediately spotted two familiar silhouettes at the entrance of the Treasure Gathering Pavilion—Hu Yanyong and Qiao Siya.
And there, confronting them, stood another familiar figure: Jiaang Han, the man expelled by the Fifth Master.
He appraised them coolly, devoid of emotion. "What brings you here this time?"
Qiao Siya let out a scornful laugh. "What's the matter? After you've driven us out, you have the nerve to ask if we need something? Isn't that ridiculous?"
She shook her head in resignation, not giving them another thought as she strode towards the school.
But after just a few steps, two figures approached.
"Trying to leave? Did you ever wonder why I kept those two around?"
Hu Yanyong and Qiao Siya were notorious troublemakers at school. With them nearby, there was never a shortage of backup.
Yuh Wenming was on his own; there was no need for excessive concern. A faint smile graced his face.
Unexpectedly, they had come specifically to target him. How could he have anticipated their many schemes?
"Are you certain you want to make a move against me?"
Qiao Siya and Hu Yanyong exchanged a glance. They had surrounded Yuh Wenming, restricting his movements.
Jiaang Han approached from behind, clapping a hand on Yuh Wenming's shoulder. "Don't fool yourself into thinking that having Lord Fifth as your protector makes you invincible. I can take you down just the same."
The school's toughs wouldn't dare make a lethal move, but they could certainly corner him.
"You'll think we've been playing around if I don't give you a taste of reality."
At Qiao Siya's signal, Hu Yanyong advanced on Yuh Wenming, his fist swinging through the air.
Yuh Wenming was taken aback by the sudden attack, his eyes widening as he stumbled backward, nearly convinced his end was near.
But the evasion techniques he'd just learned from the letter allowed him to sidestep Hu Yanyong's blows with ease—a truly invaluable skill.
Hu Yanyong, missing his mark, was shocked at Yuh Wenming's agility. "What the—? Get over here. I'll make sure you regret this."
He lunged for Yuh Wenming's shoulder, intent on seizing him.
But Yuh Wenming was quick to repel him, sending him staggering back.
The thrill of unleashing such force with simple gestures lit up his eyes with excitement.
Never had he imagined such a possibility, and he couldn't help but feel exhilarated.
Back in his place, Hu Yanyong taunted, "Do you have the guts to stick around? I guarantee you'll understand the consequences."
Hu Yanyong's actions made it clear he had reinforcements on the way.
Jiaang Han was ready to use them as pawns, poised to strike at any moment.
Meanwhile, Yuh Wenming retrieved the Jade from the chest and approached the Treasure Gathering Pavilion. Handing the Jade to an attendant, he said, "Please deliver this to your boss, Gong Qian, and inform him I've encountered some trouble here. I may require their assistance."
The attendant dashed to the upper floor with the jade in hand, seemingly eager to relay the information as quickly as possible.
Jiaang Han watched the attendant deliver the item upstairs and suspected that Yuh Wenming was attempting to bribe the higher-ups.
With a faint smile, he taunted, "Do you really think you can buy their help now? It's probably too late for that. I believe you're out of time."
Yuh Wenming remained silent, fully aware of the number of people Jiaang Han had at his disposal.
Before long, a group emerged from the school, brandishing sticks. Their intent to deal with Yuh Wenming was clear from their demeanor.
Yuh Wenming watched them focus on him and reflexively glanced back at the Treasure Gathering Pavilion. The people inside had yet to appear.
Their whereabouts were unknown to everyone. After all, Gong Qian needed time to rally his forces.
Suddenly, an individual approached from outside. Gong Yu, with several dishes in hand, stepped in front of Yuh Wenming.
"Take a good look. This is the domain of the Treasure Gathering Pavilion. If you start trouble here, you're picking a fight with us."
"Exactly. Pay attention, because I won't let you succeed," he declared.
Jiaang Han had no intention of engaging with them, but he noticed several people from the Treasure Gathering Pavilion rushing down to stand before Yuh Wenming.
Yuh Wenming had never witnessed such solidarity and couldn't judge whether they could overpower Jiaang Han's crew.
Only when they drew collapsible batons from their clothing did Yuh Wenming breathe a sigh of relief, realizing their combat prowess was genuine.
To serve as security at an antiques shop, one had to be competent.
"Are you the ones causing a ruckus at the entrance of our Treasure Gathering Pavilion? Where do you hail from? Show yourselves," he challenged.
Jiaang Han, leading the pack, hesitated to initiate a confrontation, his mind swirling with unspoken desires and uncertainty.
"Gong Qian, deal with them harshly. I'll take responsibility for any consequences," he commanded.
