C6 Long Time No See Senior Brother
The atmosphere abruptly descended into an eerie calm.
Amidst the uncomfortable silence, Zhao Feng squeezed through the crowd and positioned himself behind Prof. Zhang. He followed the professor into the room and firmly shut the door behind them.
"Who is that guy?" Director Li inquired quietly, turning to his brother-in-law.
"Just some no-name clinic doctor, not someone of importance," his cousin's husband murmured back. "The renowned doctor probably just needed an assistant. Don't bother with him."
"But their exchange earlier... they seemed to know each other, and quite well at that."
"Impossible! He must be short-staffed; why else would he turn to that loser?" Chen Min couldn't fathom the Godly Doctor associating with such a nobody and snorted in contempt.
Once the door was closed, only three remained inside the room.
Prof. Zhang greeted Zhao Feng with a warm, friendly smile.
Grasping Zhao Feng's arm, he beamed, "My dear Junior Brother, it's you!"
"It's been too long, Senior Brother."
"What brings you here? With a master like you around, why did they even call for me?"
"It's a complicated story," Zhao Feng chuckled. "Senior, the patient is my wife's grandfather. Please examine him first, then we can catch up in detail."
Prof. Zhang nodded, sitting down by the bed to take the old man's pulse.
Zhao Feng, hands clasped behind his back, watched with a secretive smile playing on his lips.
Little did the onlookers outside realize that Prof. Zhang was actually the esteemed senior disciple of Zhao Feng's master, making them the closest of martial brothers!
Prof. Zhang had long since completed his training, and their master had strictly forbidden any mention of his name, hence the secrecy of their bond.
"What in the world is happening here?"
Clearly, Prof. Zhang too had discerned that the elderly gentleman was not ill.
Gazing at his grandfather, who lay asleep on the bed, Zhao Feng spoke softly, "This involves the operations of Grandpa's company. To make his act convincing, he took a low dose of sleeping pills. I'm counting on your help this time, Shixiong."
Prof. Zhang nodded in understanding. "Ah, the feuds of the wealthy. Alright, but you'll need to agree to one condition for me."
Eagerly, Zhao Feng responded, "Of course, Senior Brother. Whatever you need, just say the word."
"What's this, you rascal? I'm giving you three days to quit your job at that hospital and come help out at mine," came the order.
Zhao Feng chuckled and nodded: "Understood. But let's keep up appearances in public—you'll still be my mentor."
"Agreed."
As they exited the room, the portly Director Li approached them eagerly: "Divine Doctor, what's the verdict? What's ailing the chairman?"
Prof. Zhang gave Zhao Feng a knowing look before replying, "Director Li, the old gentleman suffered a sudden fainting spell, likely due to some kind of shock. With proper care, he should come around, but even then, he'll need to rest in bed and avoid stress for at least a couple of weeks."
Director Li frowned, clearly troubled. What were the odds of the chairman fainting at such a critical time? Initially, he suspected the old man was feigning illness to buy time, but now it seemed genuine.
The Wei Family's reactions were mixed upon hearing the news. Aside from Wei Ying and Old Madame Wei, the rest harbored their own devious thoughts.
"I'll send some people to look after the chairman," Director Li offered.
"There's no need," Old Madame Wei interjected, waving him off. She had a hunch about the old fox's intentions. "Director Li, we'll arrange care for him ourselves. No need to trouble yourself."
Director Li's face soured slightly. "Sister-in-law, I mean no offense. I just thought it would be more convenient to have someone we know take care of him."
After a moment's contemplation, Prof. Zhang added, "Indeed, it's better to have someone familiar. It's not a big deal, and this young man here is quite capable—and family, too. Let him do it."
With that, he gestured towards Zhao Feng.
All eyes turned to Zhao Feng. Chen Min objected, "Him? Are you certain, Divine Doctor Zhang?"
Prof. Zhang's expression turned stern: "Absolutely. I've instructed him on the care needed for the old man. If he follows my guidance, the chairman will recover swiftly. Are you questioning my expertise?"
At Prof. Zhang's steely look, everyone fell silent, no one daring to challenge further.
After finishing his thought, Prof. Zhang gave Zhao Feng a pointed look and added, "I have another surgery to attend to and can't linger. Remember our agreement."
