C4 Ann's Mother Was Seriously Ill so Lin Chen Took Action!

"Director Ann, are you certain you want to take it this far?"

Sun Hao slumped on the ground, his eyes cold and venomous as he glared at Ann Lan.

Being injured was one thing, but now Lin Chen, that scoundrel, was trying to extort him. It was outrageous!

"Looks like someone hasn't learned their lesson, still acting so bold?" Lin Chen said with a chuckle as he rose from his chair and approached Sun Hao with evident impatience.

Demanding medical fees from this guy was like dealing with a nagging woman.

Clearly, he hadn't been taught enough of a lesson!

"Lin Chen, stop," Ann Lan commanded.

A lesson was one thing, but Lin Chen was being too heavy-handed. If he kept it up, Sun Hao might not make it out alive.

And then, Prosperous Group would surely not let things slide.

Turning to Sun Hao, Ann Lan spoke with an icy tone, "You attacked our company's employee, and now we're even."

"But for the theft of our company's product information, rest assured, I, Ann Lan, will settle that score with you."

"You think I'm scared?" Sun Hao started to retort, but catching sight of Lin Chen nonchalantly flexing his fists, he quickly fell silent.

Gritting his teeth against the pain, Sun Hao hobbled away.

At the door, he whipped around, his gaze landing maliciously on Ann Lan's stomach. "Director Ann, if I'm not mistaken, your mother's already got one foot in the grave, hasn't she?"

Ann Lan's eyes dimmed instantly at the cruel jab.

"Buzz off, it's none of your business!" Sun Lili snapped, spitting toward the doorway in disgust.

She then swiftly changed the subject, "Lin Chen, I had no idea you were such a skilled fighter."

"But Sun Hao is the type to hold grudges. You've beaten him so badly, he won't just let this go."

"He's nothing but a jumping jack, what real waves can he make?" Lin Chen shrugged, unconcerned.

Coming back to her senses, Ann Lan fixed Lin Chen with a stern look and said, "You're fearless as a young bull, but don't underestimate Prosperous Group. What will you do if they seek retaliation?"

"Here's an idea: after work, come back with me to my place. Our community has pretty good security, and Sun Hao, bold as he may be, wouldn't dare to make a scene at my house."

"Yeah, sure."

Lin Chen had intended to decline. After all, he and Ann Lan were only married in name, and it seemed inappropriate for a single man and woman to live together, especially when he had to be mindful of her pregnancy.

But he was moved by the genuine concern in Ann Lan's eyes, so he nodded his acceptance.

Ann Lan blushed at Lin Chen's prompt agreement, the first time she'd ever invited a man home. It was an odd sensation.

"Ding Ling Ling."

As she was about to speak, Ann Lan's phone rang.

"Dr... Dr. Zhang? What's going on?"

Pulling out her phone and seeing 'Dr. Zhang' on the caller ID, Ann Lan's anxiety spiked, her voice quivering.

Usually, a call from a doctor to a patient's family meant trouble.

"My mother's critical? Okay, I... I'm on my way!" After hanging up, Ann Lan said, "Lili, we need to get to No.1 People's Hospital, fast."

"Okay." Sun Lili nodded, and they both hurried out.

Feeling utterly overlooked, Lin Chen was frustrated.

"Ugh, they say beauty brings woes, and handsomeness brings burdens... Why am I, of all people, so burdened in both body and soul?"

Despite his grumbling, he quickly followed them out. Ann Lan's temperamental nature meant any stress could be dangerous for her pregnancy.

An hour later, they reached the hospital.

"Dr. Zhang, what's wrong with my mother?"

"She seemed fine when I visited her yesterday, didn't she?"

Standing at the ICU door, Ann Lan pressed the doctor for answers.

"Miss Ann, as you know, cancer is incredibly challenging to treat, especially in its advanced stages," the doctor in the white coat said with a note of sympathy.

"Any complication at this point could be life-threatening."

Ann Lan nearly lost her balance and stumbled upon hearing this.

"Dr. Zhang, I'm begging you, please save my mother."

"I'll pay whatever it costs."

Ann Lan's complexion was deathly pale as she clutched the middle-aged doctor's arm with a vice-like grip. Desperation shimmered in her beautiful eyes, a silent plea for help.

"Miss Ann, your mother's bone cancer cells have metastasized," the doctor informed her gravely.

"To save her, it's going to take a substantial amount of money, and we'll need to find a highly skilled doctor to perform a bone marrow transplant."

Dr. Zhang let out a bitter chuckle, his expression a mix of helplessness and resignation. Yet, as he spoke of money, a flicker of greed betrayed his stoic facade.

Lin Chen, picking up on the doctor's odd demeanor, narrowed his eyes. Without hesitation, he activated his Magical Third Eye, casting his gaze into the intensive care unit.

He wished he hadn't looked—what he saw sent him into a fury.

"Bang!" His fist connected with Dr. Zhang's face with a resounding impact.

The abrupt violence left Ann Lan and Sun Lili, already frantic with worry, completely stunned. Was this guy getting a kick out of assaulting people? They were in a hospital, for crying out loud, and Dr. Zhang was the primary physician for Ann Lan's mother!

"What gives you the right to hit me?" Dr. Zhang, clutching his face, seethed at Lin Chen.

"What right?" Lin Chen's voice was icy. "Oh, it's simple. 'If you don't want anyone to find out, don't do it.' Did you think your misdeeds would go unnoticed?"

He was beyond caring about his relationship with Ann Lan at this point. The person lying in that room was a living, breathing human being. And Lin Chen had seen with absolute clarity—Ann Lan's mother had no trace of metastatic cancer cells.

Dr. Zhang's eyes darted about guiltily. Had he been caught?

No, that couldn't be possible. The kid hadn't even laid eyes on the patient. How could he possibly know the true state of Ann Lan's mother's health?

"Miss Ann, is this lunatic with you?" Dr. Zhang asked, his sneer directed at Ann Lan. "He assaults a doctor without any provocation. Perhaps you should seek out someone more competent."

As the doctor attempted to deflect blame even in this critical moment, Lin Chen's fist was poised for another strike.

Ann Lan caught his wrist, her voice thunderous, "Lin Chen, enough! Have you lost your mind?"

"Your mother's diagnosis is wrong, they—" Lin Chen began, only to be cut off by Ann Lan's desperate, teeth-clenched roar, "Get out! Right now! This instant!"

"I never want to see you again!"

For Ann Lan, Dr. Zhang represented her mother's final hope.

When Lin Chen struck Dr. Zhang, the doctor, in a fit of rage, abandoned her mother's case. What was she to do now?

"Can't you use your head, you foolish woman?"

"I'm trying to help you here!"

Unjustly berated by Ann Lan, Lin Chen's temper flared.

"Ha, it seems you're the one lacking brains!" Dr. Zhang stepped back, fixing Lin Chen with a scornful stare.

"I'm aware of Miss Ann's devotion to her mother. I had intended to travel to the capital to request my master's help in treating her, but now... well!"

Ann Lan's fury intensified upon hearing Dr. Zhang's remarks.

She blamed Lin Chen for everything; if he hadn't lashed out, would Dr. Zhang have reacted so drastically?

"Dr. Zhang, he's just a hotheaded youth. You're a generous soul; please don't stoop to his level."

"Regarding your injury, I'll compensate you with a million yuan for medical expenses. I implore you, save my mother!"

"I'll do anything if you can just save her!"

Tears streaked Ann Lan's face as she pleaded with Dr. Zhang.

"Lin Chen, let it go with Lanlan. She's just overly concerned about her aunt," Sun Lili said, noting Lin Chen's grim expression.

"After all, you and Lanlan are married now. Her mother is your mother-in-law, too."

Despite the wrongdoing, Sun Lili didn't want her close friend, who had just been wooed, to up and leave so suddenly.

Lin Chen was tempted to walk away and never deal with this foolish woman again.

But then he remembered the old man's words from his childhood: as a doctor, it was his duty to save lives and provide aid.

Lin Chen shot Ann Lan a fierce glare.

"Not a silly woman, a madwoman, that's what you are. Open your eyes wide and watch closely!"

"My medical expertise far surpasses these incompetents!"

With that, Lin Chen shoved open the ICU doors and strode inside.

He pulled a silver needle from his belt, quickly sterilized it, and took a deep breath, ready to work.

Channeling the energy within his body, he focused it at the tip of the needle.

"Shua! Shua! Shua!"

Before Ann Lan, Sun Lili, and even Dr. Zhang could react, a series of swift movements left silver needles embedded in Ann's mother's chest.

"Hehe, Miss Ann, is this guy seriously trying to save her with silver needles?"

"I hate to say it, but where did you dig up this quack…"

Dr. Zhang was gearing up to ridicule Lin Chen when suddenly, Ann's mother, barely clinging to life, coughed up a mouthful of black blood.

"Where am I?"

"Have I died?"

Confusion laced her voice as Ann's mother's eyes fluttered open, but she quickly lost consciousness again.

Lin Chen removed the needles and stepped out with a stoic face.

"Your mother never had cancer. She's been misdiagnosed and is suffering from medicinal poisoning."

"If you doubt me, feel free to get a second opinion from another hospital."

With that, Lin Chen landed another punch on Dr. Zhang and declared fiercely, "I don't care if you did this intentionally or if you were following Sun Hao's orders."

"As a doctor, there's one thing you should never do—gamble with your patients' lives."

"To punish your malpractice, I'm going to give you a taste of living hell!"

Lin Chen pulled a black pill from his pocket and shoved it into Dr. Zhang's mouth.

It was identical to the one Sun Hao had taken, designed to inflict agonizing pain every single day.
