C57 When the Big Brother Became Ruthless He Would Even Sell His Brothers!

"Uh... nothing major happened."

"Sun Xiangnan was just incapacitated by Old Master Sun, and he doesn't have long to live."

"As for Old Master Sun himself, with good behavior, he might last another year or so."

Lin Chen nonchalantly touched his nose as he spoke.

To him, the turmoil within the Sun family seemed trivial!

"What?"

"Sun Xiangnan has been incapacitated and has only a few days left?"

"And Old Master Sun has at most a year to live?"

Ann Yongmin shuddered with shock upon hearing Lin Chen's words.

Lin Chen and his daughter had attended a birthday celebration, and while Ann Yongmin anticipated they might be mistreated, he wasn't overly concerned for their safety, considering Ann Lan's grandmother was there.

But now, he realized his concerns should have been for the Sun family, not Lin Chen and his daughter.

"You sure know how to stir the pot, don't you?"

It took a moment for Ann Yongmin to collect himself before he looked at Lin Chen with a complex gaze.

"Lanlan, I need to take a trip, so you'll need to look after your mom while I'm gone."

With that, Ann Yongmin hurried off.

This time, even Ann's mother didn't intervene.

She was well aware that the Sun family's downfall was closely tied to Lin Chen.

If her husband didn't step in now, the Sun family would surely not let the Ann family off the hook.

"Lin, you're quite the troublemaker," she mused.

"Quite the generous gift you've given your father-in-law on your first meeting!"

Old Man Huang, ever the instigator, teased Lin Chen from his sickbed with a gleeful smirk.

"Auntie, is there an issue with the Sun family?"

Lin Chen, unusually foregoing an argument with Old Man Huang, furrowed his brow and turned to Ann's mother.

He had noticed upon arrival that Ann Yongmin was a master of the Innate Stage.

There must be secrets he was unaware of.

"The Sun family..."

Ann's mother's eyes revealed her conflicted emotions. She and her husband had not foreseen Lin Chen's remarkable abilities.

A single birthday banquet had turned the Sun family's world on its head.

"Don't worry. With your uncle out front, the sky won't fall on us."

"However, you and Lanlan might face some difficulties ahead."

"I'm not asking for much, just that you keep Lanlan and her child safe."

"The child may not be yours, but your wife certainly is."

Ann's mother let out a sigh and spoke with deliberation.

Lin Chen's mouth quirked in annoyance.

What was this about the child not being his but the wife being his?

Both the wife and child were his, thank you very much.

"Um... Auntie, there's been a misunderstanding."

"The baby Lanlan is carrying is actually mine."

Lin Chen blurted out, eager to set the record straight.

"Oh, Lanlan mentioned that to me before."

"Don't worry. I'll keep your secret when we're around others."

Ann's mother nodded, her words laden with significance.

Keep this secret?

Lin Chen was baffled.

Something about his mother-in-law's words didn't sit right with him.

"If Mom doesn't believe me, there's nothing I can do."

Ann Lan, catching Lin Chen's puzzled look, shrugged in resignation.

Her own parents didn't believe this bizarre turn of events.

Of course, that was because Ann Lan hadn't told them about the letter her grandfather had written her!

The reason was simple: if she did, her father, with his temper, would surely confront her grandfather for answers.

"This is... more than a little awkward."

Lin Chen was visibly frustrated, contemplating whether to seek out a professional agency for a paternity test.

At that moment, footsteps echoed from the ward entrance.

"Patient in bed 51, meet Godly Doctor Xia, here for our hospital's free clinic."

"Our hospital has agreed that with Godly Doctor Xia's intervention, your lifespan could be extended by three to five years."

A middle-aged doctor in a white coat calmly introduced the figure to Old Man Huang.

Following the doctor's gaze, Lin Chen saw the elder standing beside him.

It was the same man he had seen before at the hospital, the one in the trench coat on the phone!

"Old Mr. Huang, I find your case particularly intriguing."

"If you follow my treatment plan, not only will you see improvement, but you might also aid in the healing of others."

The trench-coated elder, known as Godly Doctor Xia, addressed Old Man Huang with courteous interest.

Upon hearing the suggestion, Old Man Huang's eyebrows shot up, and he swiftly dismissed the idea: "No need, I'm well aware of my own health."

"Nobody's intervention will make a difference."

The old man was shrewd enough to recognize that Godly Doctor Xia had been brought in by one of his own kin.

The underlying motive was clear: they wanted to extend his life by a couple of years, then exploit his esteemed name for unsavory dealings.

"Old Mr. Huang..."

Godly Doctor Xia began, ready to offer a heartfelt plea, but he was met with a piercing, icy stare from Old Man Huang.

Feeling the chill of that gaze, Godly Doctor Xia tensed up.

In that moment, Old Man Huang seemed like a fearsome deity, ready to strike him down if he uttered one more word.

"Come on, Old Huang, they're just trying to help you out," Lin Chen said, a mischievous grin playing on his lips as he earnestly addressed Old Man Huang.

Hmm?

What was this kid up to now?

Old Man Huang grew suspicious at the sight of Lin Chen's grin; his gut told him Lin Chen was up to no good.

"The young man has a point," he chimed in.

"The treatment is on the house, purely charitable."

"Besides, living a few more years means you can enjoy the beauty of our homeland's landscapes, maybe even resolve some old regrets."

Godly Doctor Xia, seizing on Lin Chen's words, quickly mopped his brow and chimed in cautiously.

"Huang, I think Godly Doctor Xia has a valid point," Lin Chen said, nodding earnestly.

"And your point is?" Old Man Huang shot back, his voice laced with contempt.

The kid was clearly stirring the pot, yet he had the gall to sound so convincing.

Pfft, I pity Old An for having such a scheming son-in-law!

"We absolutely shouldn't abandon treatment!" Godly Doctor Xia urged, his eyes filled with gratitude towards Lin Chen as Old Man Huang's mood seemed to stabilize.

Old Man Huang remained silent, his gaze fixed thoughtfully on Lin Chen.

He was intensely curious about what kind of mischief the kid was up to.

"Godly Doctor Xia, let me be frank with you."

"My brother's been under a lot of financial strain lately. Even if he could live another three to five years, it would just be a matter of dragging out a miserable existence."

"So, if you expect his cooperation with the treatment, it's going to require a substantial amount of money. You get what I'm saying, right?"

Lin Chen pursed his lips, speaking with a hint of melancholy.

Upon hearing this, the doctors and Godly Doctor Xia all caught their breath.

Even Old Man Huang's eyes bulged in shock.

Internally, he ranted furiously, "Damn, this unscrupulous kid! When he plays dirty, he doesn't even spare his own brother?"
