C80 The Sun Family Was No Longer in a City!
"Impossible!"
"That bomb was meticulously planted by me. How on earth did you find out where it was?"
Sun Xiangfeng's eyes bulged with horror.
If Lin Chen knew the bomb's location, it likely meant he had already dispatched someone to disarm it!
"Five, four, three, two..."
"Just stop counting. I won't press the button, okay?"
Sun Xiangfeng couldn't withstand the pressure as Lin Chen's countdown echoed in his ears.
The button slipped from his grasp, clattering to the floor as his face turned ghostly pale, etched with dread.
Unable to decipher Lin Chen's next move, he dared not risk the lives of the entire Sun family on a gamble!
"Lin Chen, you'd better keep your promise!"
"Let me, Sun Xiangfeng, be the only casualty, and spare the rest of my family!"
"If you break your word, I'll haunt you as a ghost and never let you be!"
With a final, seething look at Lin Chen, Sun Xiangfeng drew a dagger and plunged it into his heart.
As Sun Xiangfeng crumpled to the ground, Chung Yu, Huang, and Sun Qing'er all exhaled in relief.
Only Ann Lan's gaze held a tinge of complexity, her stunning eyes reflecting inner turmoil.
Despite the Sun family's disdain and outright hostility toward the Ann family, she couldn't deny the Sun blood flowing through her veins.
"Darling, I've notified Secretary Sun to come for you."
"Qing'er and the others will stay to ensure your safety shortly."
"I have urgent matters to attend to and must step out."
Lin Chen didn't linger on Sun Xiangfeng's demise, addressing Ann Lan as he turned to leave.
Ann Lan shivered faintly.
She knew, even without Lin Chen saying so, that his nature meant he was bound for vengeance against the Sun family.
"Lin Chen, I'm aware of the Sun family's heinous crimes, their unforgivable sins."
"Yet, I implore you, for my mother's sake, to grant them mercy."
Ann Lan looked up, her plea earnest and heartfelt.
Her own feelings might be secondary, but her mother's would weigh heavily on her.
Should Lin Chen decimate the Sun family, her mother would be devastated.
"I owe Grandma a gift."
"This time, I'll settle that debt."
Lin Chen let out a sigh and spoke in a measured tone.
The Sun family had repeatedly threatened the lives of Ann Lan and her mother. Given his nature, he would leave none of them standing.
Yet, he couldn't ignore the feelings of Ann Lan, her mother-in-law, and her grandmother.
Ten minutes later, Lin Chen entrusted Ann Lan to Sun Qing'er and Secretary Sun, instructed Chung Yu and Huang to stay on guard at the company, and then set off alone to confront the Sun family.
At that moment, within the Sun family estate.
Old Master Sun paced restlessly, his aged face betraying his agitation.
"Grandfather, with Elder Mo, a titan of alchemy, taking action, Lin Chen's demise is certain!" Sun Qiang said in a hushed tone while sitting beside his grandfather.
"Besides, with Third Uncle having seized Ann Lan and her child, no matter how formidable Lin Chen is, he wouldn't abandon his wife and child."
"My father mentioned he planted a bomb in that building," Sun Qiang continued. "Even with extraordinary abilities, Lin Chen couldn't possibly survive the blast."
"Once he's gone, the Ann family will be mere insects to us," Sun Xue chimed in, nodding in agreement.
Old Master Sun was well aware of the implications of Sun Qiang and Sun Xue's remarks. With Elder Mo's assistance, they had managed to eliminate Godly Doctor Xia, effectively fulfilling half of the Shrine's directive.
The downfall of Lin Chen would signal the collapse of Ann's Group, allowing them to complete the remaining half of their mission. With the Shrine's backing and Elder Mo's connections, the Sun family's ascent was just a matter of time.
Despite this, an ominous premonition lingered in his mind.
"When is your uncle expected to return home?" Old Master Sun finally broke the silence, turning to Sun Qiang and Sun Xue.
"Uncle left the border yesterday; he should arrive by tonight," Sun Qiang replied, glancing at the clock and expressing some concern. "Grandfather, Uncle has just been promoted to lieutenant. Calling him back now, especially when Lin Chen and the Ann family are within our grasp, seems somewhat ill-advised."
Old Master Sun moistened his chapped lips, contemplating their next move.
He sighed, "I'm well aware that your uncle is at a pivotal juncture in his career."
"But Lin Chen, that guy is a nightmare. It's not the likely dangers that worry me—it's the unlikely ones."
"If Xue'er's father doesn't make it through this, once your uncle returns, he'll be able to wipe out both him and the Ann family."
Sun Xiangguo was the eldest of the Sun family's second generation. Blessed with an exceptional physique, he began his cultivation journey at a young age by joining a sect.
At eighteen, he enlisted in the army and, leveraging his cultivation skills, earned distinguished military honors on the frontier. By his late forties, he had risen to the rank of lieutenant.
In just a few more years, Sun Xiangguo was likely to take the next step and become a general.
"Grandfather's right. Once uncle is back..."
"This time, even if Lin Chen and Ann Lan, that despicable duo, somehow manage to survive, they won't escape uncle's grasp!"
Sun Xue reveled in the thought of Lin Chen and Ann Lan dying with nowhere to lay their remains, a look of thrill spreading across her face.
"Boom!"
The Sun family's door was abruptly kicked open just as Sun Xue finished her sentence.
"So, you're plotting the demise of my family, are you?"
Lin Chen's eyes settled on Sun Xue, Sun Qiang, and Old Master Sun as he posed the question with a calm detachment.
"Lin... Chen, how did you get here?"
"Wasn't that wretch Ann Lan kidnapped?"
Sun Qiang and Sun Xue trembled, utterly incredulous at the sight of Lin Chen.
"All thanks to the Sun family."
"My wife and child are safe and sound."
Lin Chen lifted his eyelids, casting a glance at the insolent Sun Qiang.
"To insult my wife is to ask for punishment!"
With those words, Lin Chen stepped up to Sun Qiang and delivered a resounding slap across his face.
The sharp crack of the slap sent Sun Qiang reeling.
Stars danced before his eyes, his head spun, and he spat out a mouthful of blood, teeth included.
"Your wife and child are safe and sound?"
"Lin Chen, what are you implying?"
"Where is my father?"
Sun Xue, ignoring Sun Qiang's pitiful condition, fixed her gaze on Lin Chen, her voice seething with anger.
"Your father, overwhelmed by guilt for abducting his own niece, took his own life as atonement."
Lin Chen gave a nonchalant shrug and responded to Sun Xue with a hint of indifference.
"Overwhelmed by guilt to the point of suicide as atonement?"
At Lin Chen's remark, Sun Xue's frame softened, and she collapsed to the ground.
Even Old Master Sun's murky eyes began to redden with blood.
His second son, Sun Xiangnan, had been taken by the Shrine's High Priest. Yet, he was acutely aware that his son's survival would leave him a mere shell of a man.
Now, with Laosan slain by Lin Chen, Old Master Sun was awash with sorrow, and he harbored a burning desire to flay Lin Chen alive.
"Oh, and there's something I neglected to mention, Old Master Sun."
"Qing'er has been healed by yours truly, and even Elder Mo is aware of it."
Witnessing the trio's mix of rage and grief, Lin Chen couldn't suppress a smirk.
Hadn't the Sun family been so eager to kill his wife and children?
Well, now it was their turn to taste the bitter flavor of despair.
"Impossible!"
"I took matters into my own hands. With Qing'er utterly defenseless, survival was out of the question!"
Old Master Sun's hands were balled into fists, his voice seething with anger as he rebuked Lin Chen.
More than the death of his son, the well-being of Sun Qing'er weighed heavily on his mind.
If his son was lost, he could summon his eldest for vengeance, but if Sun Qing'er lived, once Elder Mo was informed, the Sun family would become the target of innumerable cultivators!
"Whether you believe it or not is irrelevant."
"Because as of today, the Sun family will cease to exist in A City!"
Lin Chen stood his ground, his gaze fixed on Old Master Sun with a calm intensity.
