C12 Obtaining More Good Points!

"Run for it, kid! Aren't you scared of getting stabbed?"

"It's just money! Your life is more important!"

Bystanders called out urgently.

"Driver, are we moving or not? I'm on a tight schedule!"

"Exactly! It's just a petty thief, and he's been caught already! Let's get going!"

Passengers on the bus pressed impatiently.

The driver let out a sigh and pressed the gas pedal.

The engine roared to life, and the bus was ready to depart.

The thief, seeing this, cackled wildly. "Trying to play the hero, huh? Look around! Does anyone have your back?"

Zhou Wen couldn't bring himself to release his grip. If he did, the thief would surely escape.

"Drop the money!" he demanded.

"Drop dead! Why should I give up the money I worked so hard to steal?" The thief brandished his knife menacingly.

"Let go or I swear I'll stab you!" The thief brandished the gleaming knife in Zhou Wen's face.

The elderly man in white stopped shouting. He glanced around at the onlookers, his face tinged with disappointment.

No one dared to intervene.

Only this young man in front of him, who looked to be a student, stood his ground.

He understood, though. With the thief wielding a knife, anyone stepping in would risk their life.

But this only highlighted Zhou Wen's courage.

The old man shook his head, a spark of determination in his eyes, and he seemed to stand taller.

The young man had good character, but things were getting dangerous.

The old man sighed internally, resolved to offer his help.

Just then, the thief lunged with his knife. Zhou Wen quickly dodged.

The thief had no real skill with the blade, just wildly swinging the knife at him.

Zhou Wen kept dodging, but a slash caught his arm.

His jacket sleeve ripped open, and a trickle of blood seeped out.

The sight of blood shocked the thief.

He was just a thief; stabbing someone was never his intention. He was only trying to intimidate Zhou Wen, but now he had drawn blood by accident and was bewildered by his own actions.

Zhou Wen, despite the throbbing pain in his arm, managed to seize the thief's wrist—the one clutching the knife—and squeezed it tightly.

"Ah!" The thief yelped, the sudden pain causing a reflexive reaction.

The knife clattered to the ground.

As soon as the knife hit the pavement, Zhou Wen delivered a powerful kick to the thief's stomach. The blow, fueled by Zhou Wen's full force, sent the thief crumpling to the ground, clutching his belly and moaning, his forehead beaded with sweat.

Zhou Wen didn't hesitate. He rushed forward and twisted the thief's arm. With his considerable strength, the thief let out a scream, his ability to resist completely vanquished.

Zhou Wen retrieved the small cloth bag from the thief's grasp and handed it to the approaching elderly man.

"Grandpa, here's your money." Zhou Wen's forehead was slick with sweat, his grip on the thief unyielding.

The old man appeared somewhat dazed. He had been ready to intervene, but to his surprise, Zhou Wen had already subdued the thief.

"Thank you so much!" the old man exclaimed, tucking the cloth bag into his satchel.

"It's the least I could do. Grandfather, please be more careful with your belongings in the future," Zhou Wen said with a smile.

Just then, a police car screeched to a stop at the curb.

A tall female officer leapt from the passenger seat.

"We received a call about a thief. Where is the culprit?"

The officer strode over with urgency, her eyebrows knitted and her face marked by concern. As she spoke, her lips moved with a hint of agitation.

Upon reaching the bus stop, she immediately spotted Zhou Wen pinning the thief to the ground.

Their eyes met, and simultaneously they exclaimed, "Why is it you?"

To Zhou Wen's surprise, the officer was none other than Lin Jing from the police station.

Realizing the situation, Zhou Wen figured this must be within Lin Jing's patrol area. She had responded to the call personally.

"Lin, I caught this thief red-handed while I was on the bus," Zhou Wen explained nonchalantly.

Lin Jing rushed to his side, immediately noticing the discarded knife and the blood on Zhou Wen's arm.

"Are you hurt?" Lin Jing asked, concern etching her features as she knelt to inspect his wound.

"Bring the first aid kit!"

At Lin Jing's command, another officer who had arrived on the scene dashed to the police car to retrieve a medical kit.

"Lin, it's just a minor scrape. No need to fuss over it," Zhou Wen chuckled dismissively.

"What minor scrape? I have to take care of it, or it could get infected and turn serious," Lin Jing responded with concern.

"Take off your jacket," Lin Jing commanded firmly, leaving no room for argument.

Reluctantly, Zhou Wen removed his jacket, revealing a short-sleeved shirt and his bare arms.

The wound on his left forearm wasn't too deep. Lin Jing meticulously cleaned it with iodine, then applied some ointment and wrapped it with gauze.

As Lin Jing focused on treating his wound, Zhou Wen's heart began to race.

Lin Jing was just as beautiful as Su Qin, but their temperaments were worlds apart. Su Qin was aloof, detached, and had an air of untouched innocence. Lin Jing, however, radiated vitality, despised evil, and was quite nurturing.

The gentle touch of Lin Jing's fingers on his arm made Zhou Wen close his eyes and savor the moment.

"All done!" Lin Jing's voice snapped Zhou Wen back to reality as she held his arm for a final check.

Suddenly, Zhou Wen's face turned an unnatural shade of red, and his thighs pressed together involuntarily.

"Zhou Wen, what's wrong?" Lin Jing asked, noticing his odd behavior.

"Why the hell is my underwear vibrating now?" Zhou Wen was on the verge of tears, frustrated by the inexplicable timing.

"Lin, I've got to go. Something came up!" Zhou Wen quickly pulled his arm away and dashed off.

Left alone, Lin Jing stood there, perplexed. She touched her lips thoughtfully, a blush creeping onto her cheeks as she pondered Zhou Wen's bizarre behavior.

Zhou Wen didn't dwell on the incident as he hurried home. Once in his room, he could finally relax and investigate the strange occurrence with his underwear.

The image of a glowing, humanoid silhouette flashed in his mind, identical to the one he had seen after a previous rescue.

Squinting, he could make out the silhouette adorned with clothing, a hat, pants, shoes, and more.

"Brave capture of a thief has earned you 10 good points, but your underwear has not yet upgraded," a gentle female voice echoed in Zhou Wen's ear.

Upon hearing the voice, the vibrations from the underwear ceased.

In his mind's eye, a flash emanated from the underwear on the crotch area of the human silhouette.

The progress bar, which indicated levels one through four, surged upward, the white filling reaching halfway between levels one and two, whereas it had previously indicated level one.

"The underwear can actually level up further!" Zhou Wen exclaimed, relieved to be alone at home.

Since the last incident, Zhou Wen had become aware of the real boost in strength and intelligence his underwear provided.

He had thought the matter concluded when the silhouette ceased to appear in his thoughts. Yet, unexpectedly, apprehending a thief had reactivated the underwear.

Zhou Wen was thrilled beyond measure.

If the underwear could continue to level up, it meant he had the potential to grow even stronger!

Zhou Wen removed his pants to find his underwear still a vibrant red, unchanged.

"Both saving people and catching thieves have earned me good points. It seems that good points can only be acquired through acts of kindness," Zhou Wen mused.

"Last time, 10 good points took my underwear from level zero to one, but this time, the same amount wasn't enough to reach level two."

Zhou Wen likened the good points to experience points in a game, quickly grasping the underlying concept.

Good deeds earned him good points, which could be used to upgrade his underwear, enhancing its attributes upon leveling up.

"God-level set equipment..."

Zhou Wen's thoughts deepened.

The human silhouette in his mind wore more than just underwear; there could be other pieces of equipment.

If the underwear was this impressive, the potential of the other items was exciting.

Resolved, Zhou Wen decided to seize every opportunity to perform good deeds, aiming to upgrade his underwear.

This latest revelation had clarified the workings of the underwear for Zhou Wen.

Moreover, despite wearing the same underwear for an extended period, it remained dry and pristine, offering nothing but comfort.

Zhou Wen had grown accustomed to the presence of underwear, and his confidence had surged once again.

After the break, he returned to school with a renewed dedication to his studies.

Everything seemed hopeful.

At the podium, Lee Dan concluded her language class and announced, "Class, we're going to have a mock exam next week to gauge everyone's performance. I expect you all to keep up the hard work!"

"Is the mock exam happening that soon?" a student from the audience inquired.

Lee Dan, with a stern look, clarified, "This mock exam is organized by our school and is not the same as the city-wide one."

"The exam is so close. I'm really nervous. What if I do terribly?" another student expressed concern.

Just then, Wang Chi, seated at the front, chuckled and remarked, "There's no need to worry. No matter how poorly you do, you won't be in last place!"

"Our classmate Zhou Wen has consistently been at the bottom of our class. I doubt this time will be any different!" Wang Chi taunted.

Zhou Wen, sitting at the back, couldn't help but frown. Wang Chi was always involved in everything. He was the one who had called Zhou Wen out to the field the last time he had a fight with Chen Yu.

"Wang Chi, so what if Zhou Wen struggles a bit academically? How can you shamelessly keep picking on him? He's shown courage when it mattered—can you say the same?" Chen Wan'er couldn't contain her frustration and spoke up loudly.

She had witnessed Zhou Wen's efforts over the past few weeks. Though the outcome was uncertain, he had indeed been working hard.

Moreover, Zhou Wen was not of poor character; he had simply neglected his studies before.

Chen Wan'er, as Zhou Wen's close friend and desk mate, naturally defended him.

Caught off guard by her words, Wang Chi straightened up and retorted, "Acting heroically? Are you referring to the time he jumped into the river to save someone? That was just luck. I don't believe he could pull that off a second time!"

No sooner had he finished speaking than a middle-aged man entered the classroom—it was Zheng Chuan, the senior year's guidance director.

An elderly person clad in white linen followed closely behind him.

"Zhou Wen, last weekend you apprehended a thief on the bus and retrieved the elderly gentleman's possessions. He's come to express his gratitude!" Zheng Chuan announced, his face beaming with delight.

"A thief?" Wang Chi's eyes bulged in surprise, his voice tinged with confusion.
