C36 Use the Death Domain Invitation
"The folks from the Devil Domain Bureau have mentioned that the Death Domain is on the verge of materializing, and they've asked us to hang tight a bit longer," one of them said with a hint of resignation.
"I've been here for ten hours already. How much longer until this lockdown is lifted?" another person demanded, frustration etched across their face.
"There's a rumor that the Death Domain will only vanish once its boss is defeated. Word has it that a cadre of top-tier players is making their way into the Death Domain. I'm confident they'll take down the boss in no time."
"I've heard you need a Death Domain Invitation to get in. Without it, you're out of luck."
"Yeah, I've heard that too. You only get the Death Domain Invitation by beating a boss, and even then, the odds are slim. You might have to take down a hundred bosses before you snag one."
"We might as well forget about it. We can't even beat ten bosses in a year. Sure, the Death Domain's rewards are hefty, but it's so perilous. There's a real chance we won't make it back out! So, invitation or not, I'm not interested."
Zhang Ze, overhearing the duo's exchange, accessed his system backpack and located the Death Domain Invitation. A prompt then flashed before his eyes:
"The Death Domain is now open. Will you use the invitation to enter?"
"Yes or No?"
Zhang Ze stroked his chin, pondering, "I've already conquered the first three layers of the Devil Domain. Going back to grind monsters offers me no rewards, and I'm stuck on the fourth layer. Plus, there's a Devil Domain Expert in the real world gunning for me. I've run out of options!"
"I choose to use the Death Domain Invitation!"
"Death Domain Invitation successfully activated! Entering the Death Domain in three seconds. Prepare yourself."
"Three, two, one!"
In the blink of an eye, Zhang Ze's surroundings shifted. He found himself before a dilapidated village, with several adventurers heading towards it.
Around him, more adventurers materialized. To Zhang Ze's amazement, these weren't just compatriots from Great Xia Country; they hailed from nations far and wide!
Adventurers from all around the globe have converged on the Death Domain!
"What's happening here? Devil Domains of different nations aren't connected. How are there foreigners?" Zhang Ze exclaimed in surprise, just as someone clapped him on the shoulder.
"Rakshasa! I've been searching for you!"
The speaker was a girl, her voice tinged with excitement and a touch of happiness.
Zhang Ze turned to see it was none other than Lau Yueying!
"You saved my life before! I've been trying to find you to repay the kindness, but you were nowhere to be found." Lau Yueying inhaled deeply, "I never imagined we'd meet here. I owe you a favor, and I intend to repay it. What would you like?"
Accompanying Lau Yueying were two others. One was a man in his thirties, with a massive sword slung across his back. He was known in the Devil Domain as Killing Windchaser.
The other, a peer of Zhang Ze's age, cradled a crystal ball. He was called Midsummer Night Dream in the Devil Domain.
Killing Windchaser glanced at Zhang Ze, then turned to Lau Yueying, "Yueying, is this the man who drew the Iron Tooth Wolf away for you?"
She nodded, "Yes, Sixth Uncle, he's the one who saved me that day."
Killing Windchaser extended his hand to Zhang Ze, "Thank you for rescuing my niece. Words can't express our gratitude. If you ever find yourself in trouble, seek me out at the Lau family."
"This is my Sixth Uncle, and the younger man is my brother," Lau Yueying introduced, standing next to Zhang Ze.
Zhang Ze shook hands with Killing Windchaser, downplaying the gesture, "It was nothing, really. No need to dwell on it."
"You ventured into the Death Domain alone? That's quite brave!" Killing Windchaser observed, offering a friendly warning, "This place is unlike the Devil Domain. The monsters are tougher, and it's teeming with foreign Adventurers. Clashes over monsters and loot are common here."
"That's why I recommend you don't go it alone. You're better off sticking with us."
"Absolutely, Mr. Rakshasa, Sixth Uncle is an Adventurer of excellent standing. You're in safe hands with us!" Midsummer Night Dream extended an invitation to Zhang Ze.
According to the Devil Domain manual, Adventurers are evaluated based on their strength, with rankings from novice to skilled, outstanding, powerful, extraordinary, and ultimately, the top titles.
Lau Yueying was silent throughout, simply observing Zhang Ze with a quiet gaze.
"Since this is my first visit to the Death Domain, I'm unfamiliar with the lay of the land. It would be quite risky to venture out alone, especially with numerous foreign adventurers around—it only adds to the danger," Zhang Ze reasoned. After a moment's consideration, he nodded in agreement, "If you're willing to take me along, that would be ideal."
Killing Windchaser nodded in approval. "You're not overconfident or full of yourself. I like your attitude."
Lau Yueying's eyes softened, her expression easing. She had been genuinely concerned that Zhang Ze might decline.
The Death Domain was fraught with peril, and the thought of Zhang Ze going it alone was unsettling.
She owed him a debt of gratitude and didn't want to see him perish before she had the chance to repay it.
Once Zhang Ze had joined the group, Killing Windchaser proposed, "Now that Mr. Rakshasa is part of our team, let's share our Innate Skills. This way, we can synergize our efforts when we face challenges ahead."
"I'll start. My Innate Skill is Repelling! It can knock a target back ten steps and stun them for thirty seconds," declared Killing Windchaser.
"Now it's my turn. My Innate Skill is Illusion. It can conjure an illusion for the target that lasts an hour, though it has no combat utility," Midsummer Night Dream admitted with a shrug, somewhat sheepishly acknowledging the limitations of his skill.
"My Innate Skill is Light Slash. You've seen it in action before," Lau Yueying remarked to Zhang Ze, her tone measured and calm.
Zhang Ze was forthright with them; he knew that his innate ability would eventually become common knowledge. "My innate skill is Summon Technique," he explained calmly. "I can summon monsters to aid me in battle."
Killing Windchaser and the rest looked on with intrigue. Midsummer Night Dream inquired, "Brother Zhang Ze, what kinds of monsters can you summon? Will they all obey your commands?"
Zhang Ze nodded affirmatively and proceeded to conjure a Sword-shield Goblin to show them.
"Amazing!" exclaimed Midsummer Night Dream, clearly impressed. He had never encountered such a skill before.
Killing Windchaser and Lau Yueying were amused by the novelty, but they didn't dwell on it. They knew that while creatures like Goblins could be handy in regular skirmishes, they were virtually useless against formidable opponents or high-level bosses.
They believed that an adventurer's own prowess was paramount; anything else was merely supplementary.
"We should wrap up the introductions here," Killing Windchaser suggested, eyeing the other adventurers making their way into the village. "There's no time to lose. If someone else beats us to the boss, we'll come away empty-handed."
