Without so much as a glance in her direction, Yeh Hongchen replied coolly, "Junior Sister Yun, let's get the meal over with so you can go and break off your engagement. I'm quite preoccupied, and it wouldn't be convenient for me to linger."

Yeh Hongchen was well aware of Yun Xiaolan's intentions; she was simply trying to persuade him to stay longer to foster a closer relationship. Given his status as an Innate master with a formidable background, even a brief association could bring significant advantages to the Yun family.

"Understood," Yeh Hongchen replied coolly, stepping out of the carriage to join the Yun family members as they made their way into the Ye household.

After a brief exchange of pleasantries between Yun Xiaolan and the Ye Family elders, they proceeded to the main hall. Shortly thereafter, Ye Yuhang, the Great Elder of the Ye Family, summoned Ye Bufan.

Ye Bufan's slight, almost malnourished frame and exceedingly plain features belied the persistent defiance that sparkled in his eyes.

"Great Elder, what matter brings me here?" Ye Bufan inquired, his tone even as he surveyed the crowded hall, an inkling of the situation already forming in his mind.

Ye Yuhang glanced at Yun Xiaolan, who gave a subtle nod. With a kind demeanor, he addressed Ye Bufan, "Bufan, do you recall the marriage agreement your father made with the Yun Family Patriarch concerning you and his daughter?"

"I'm aware. My father has mentioned it," Ye Bufan acknowledged, casting a brief look at Yun Qingxue seated next to Yeh Hongchen, before continuing calmly.

"Today, the reason for calling you here is simple: to dissolve the engagement. The Yun Family Patriarch believes you no longer possess the qualifications to wed his niece."
