C12 CHAPTER12
At the anxious sight of his son, Joren swallowed the Experience Pill. Although the effect wasn't huge, his cultivation, stagnant for years, showed a slight fluctuation. Without revealing his excitement, he glanced at the unusual store owner before starting to consume the pills like candy.
Several minutes later.
"Four stars Evolved! I've finally broken the bottleneck after so many years." Though it was just one level, the emotion on his face was clear. Thanks to this store and its owner, he felt something he'd forgotten: hope for the future.
"Boss... you are the man! Hahaha." Blake looked at his father in astonishment. He had always been a serious man, and although Blake had seen him smile, he had never seen him laugh or use such language.
For Joren, everything seemed vibrant again. This new level assured him he could continue on the path of cultivation. "Boss, give me 10 more."
Five stars Evolved.
"10 more."
As Blake prepared to pay for another round of Experience Pills...
"Ding! The level-1 pill supply is out of stock! Please wait until tomorrow!"
As the money rained down, Sam felt his joy deflate like a balloon. Although he had earned a lot, it could've been more. But it was reasonable; he had used the level-1 pill supply several times throughout the day.
"Er... I'm sorry, dear customer, but those were the last Experience Pills available. We'll have more in stock tomorrow," he said with an awkward smile.
"Even so, the trip was worth it... besides, you still have other products, right?"
"True, Boss, do you still have any walnuts?"
"Yes, 100,000 each."
"Are they the ones that raised your talent from D to B-?" Joren asked.
"Yes, Dad."
"I want them all." This simple sentence from Joren left both Sam and Blake silent. Blake didn't know how many walnuts were in stock, and yet his father wanted them all?
On the other hand, Sam began dreaming of the big store he would open in the city center and the house that would no longer be small. Clearing his throat, he said, "There are 7 walnuts left... That would be 700,000 spiritual coins."
"Pay him." Joren's words betrayed not only the amount of money he had but also how excited he was at the idea of...
leveling up his genetic talent.
With excitement, Blake handed over 70 Level-2 zombie crystal cores.
"Boss, we want all the walnuts."
"Of course, they're all yours," Sam replied with a smile. However, before handing them over, he reminded them, "According to the rules, and to prevent resale, the Experience Pill and the walnuts can only be consumed inside the store. If you want to take them away, the price will be double..."
This was a surprise update the system released.
"No problem, you'll take four, and I'll take the rest... better make it five," he said, thinking about the great future awaiting his son.
"Start eating, what are you waiting for?" he urged, tossing the first one into his mouth. After swallowing the first, he immediately downed another.
Sam, curious himself, kindly offered a small measuring device so they could check their results.
For him, having just pocketed $700,000, it was a pleasure to be friendly and smile at this pair of generous customers.
Joren, who had eaten both nuts at once, measured his natural genes.
"A"
This meant an increase of four levels, from B-, B+, A-, to A.
If he were alone, he would probably be jumping for joy. Who would have imagined he would now be in the genetic category of the most powerful... and he still had to see his son's result.
Unlike Joren, who was a five-star Evolved, Blake was barely a seven-star Awakened, so digesting and assimilating the power of each walnut took longer for him.
When he finally finished eating the last one, he approached the measuring device.
"S-"
"Hahaha, my son is a talent like no other; no one in all of Harsh Terrain can compare to him."
Joren Vaughn's excitement was greater than his son's, as it meant the family would soon be counted among the great powers of the city.
"Son! From now on, the family will depend on you. You must cultivate yourself to the maximum, and above all, earn the respect that someone of your level deserves."
Almost a million spiritual coins had been spent on this little trip to the city with his son, but it was worth it.
Not only had their genetic and cultivation levels improved, but they now knew the most important person in the city. Even if it had drained the family's funds, it was worth it.
"When one of the elders comes to ask me about the expenses... Haha, my new level will make that their least concern," Joren thought.
After being thanked and praised by the father and son for a while, Sam finally managed to close up shop. As he started counting his earnings, a system alert popped up.
"Ding! The total turnover of the store has exceeded one million dollars."
"New Mission!: [Advance supplier level]!"
"Mission Introduction: Store reputation must reach 100,000. Accumulate enough experience to upgrade supplier level!"
"Time Limit: Three Days."
"Reward for Success: Host is upgraded to a level-2 supplier."
"Note: Level-2 Supplier Authority – Increase the distribution percentage to 20%."
"Punishment for Failure: A random supply channel will be deleted! The host will not be able to update the supplier level within a year!"
"Note: Take the first step in your career. Work hard! Work hard to shake off the rookie vibe."
