C1 The Goddess of Law

At Frost City University, a freshmen welcome party was underway when the campus beauty got drunk and was escorted into a private room. The incident was witnessed by many, yet they feigned ignorance, not wanting to invite trouble upon themselves.

Zhao Han was the only one who dared to intervene, bursting into the room and taking on the assailants with a wine bottle in hand. He single-handedly injured over a dozen student council members, sending them all to the hospital. The student council president, Lin Su, was among them, suffering a concussion.

The event sent shockwaves through the campus, becoming the center of heated discussions. The principal, livid with anger, berated Zhao Han, "Do you realize the magnitude of the mess you've created? No one else claimed to see them harassing Chen Shiyun, yet you did? With Lin Su's permanent injuries, what do you plan to do? As a newcomer, you're facing certain expulsion. Just wait for the court's verdict. Don't get your hopes up; prison is in your future, and you might even lose your life. Now, get out."

After leaving the principal's office, Zhao Han casually lit a cigarette. His homeroom teacher, Xu Qinya, approached him quickly, pulling him into the neighboring office and shutting the door behind them. "Why are you smoking here? Don't you know the court officials have already arrived downstairs?" she asked, her brow furrowed with concern.

Xu Qinya snatched the cigarette from Zhao Han's hand, extinguished it, and tossed it into the trash. Undeterred, Zhao Han lit another and calmly stated, "I haven't done anything wrong."

Xu Qinya clenched her jaw, inhaling deeply before responding, "I know you acted out of a sense of justice and you're not in the wrong. But there's no one to back up your story. Even Chen Shiyun, the victim herself, claims she was too drunk to remember anything. If she won't support you, do you understand the implications?"

Zhao Han simply smiled, offering no reply.

Xu Qinya was in a bind. She never imagined facing such a dilemma in her first year of teaching. "Zhao Han, you should run. Lin Su's family is incredibly wealthy; they won't let this go. They're out for blood."

She knew all too well the lengths to which the affluent and influential families of the student council members would go for retribution, having spent four years at Frost City University herself.

Zhao Han spoke calmly, "The court officials are already downstairs. There's no way I can run. If I did, it would only prove that I'm guilty."

Xu Qinya was left speechless, at a loss for words.

She felt helpless. Zhao Han was just a freshman at Frost City University. Was his academic career really going to end like this?

Her heart ached for him, but her hands were tied. Lin Su and his cohorts wielded too much power in Frost City; no one dared cross them.

"Maybe your family could hire a lawyer?" Xu Qinya whispered, though she lacked confidence in her own suggestion.

After all, Lin Su's family had the resources to secure the most prestigious legal representation.

"Why are you so concerned about me?" Zhao Han asked with a smile.

"I'm your homeroom teacher, and you're still joking at a time like this?" Xu Qinya scolded, her gaze fixed on him.

Then, the door opened.

Representatives from the Lin family and the court had arrived, and Xu Qinya's anxiety spiked.

Zhao Han had chosen not to flee earlier. What now?

"Are you Zhao Han?" The speaker was Lin Sheng, Lin Su's brother and the executive director of Lin's Group. He marched up to Zhao Han, his eyes burning with fury.

His brother had been assaulted, suffering a severe concussion. An attack on Lin Su was an affront to the Lin family's honor, something unheard of in Frost City for a century.

"Are you mute? Why aren't you speaking?" Lin Sheng's fists tightened with growing anger.

As Xu Qinya moved to intervene, Zhao Han gently pushed her aside, "If you're going to hit me, go ahead."

That was the cue Lin Sheng had been waiting for. He swung at Zhao Han, who swiftly dodged and countered, sending Lin Sheng tumbling to the ground with a kick. Lin Sheng hit the floor hard, coughing up blood.

"Bastard!" bellowed a bodyguard, lunging at Zhao Han.

But Zhao Han was quicker, landing a solid punch to the bodyguard's midsection, effortlessly dispatching his assailants.

"Temporary bodyguards?"

Zhao Han, you're out of line!" Lin Sheng's assistant bellowed furiously.

All the bodyguards stepped forward, forming a tight circle around Zhao Han.

Lin Sheng, with his assistant's support, rose to his feet. He dabbed at the blood trickling from the corner of his mouth and glared at Zhao Han, his eyes seething with murderous intent.

"Do you really think I don't have a hundred ways to kill you?"

"I don't believe it."

... "You scoundrel!" The assistant signaled the court staff with a meaningful look.

The staff member promptly produced a pair of handcuffs.

"Zhao Han, you're under suspicion of intentional assault. We're detaining you for questioning. Here's the arrest warrant..."

"Hold on." A crisp voice cut through the tension at the entrance.

The lawyer had arrived.

She was the Lin family's top legal ace.

Could it be her?

A wave of shock rippled through the crowd.

The Legal Goddess of Di Capital!

The world's youngest prodigy with a doctorate in law!

The chief legal advisor for over a hundred publicly traded corporations!

Rumors even had it that she was an advisor to legislative committees around the globe!

Had the Lin family really managed to secure her services?

Xu Qinya's heart sank with dread. She had clung to a sliver of hope, but now it seemed to have vanished.

Even if Zhao Han was innocent, he would be painted as guilty.

Witnesses from the incident would be powerless to help.

Not even Chen Shiyun, directly involved, could alter the inevitable.

Her very presence was tantamount to sentencing Zhao Han to his demise.

Lin Sheng couldn't hide his smugness. "Allow me to introduce—"

"No need." Zhao Han cut him off.

Lin Sheng snapped, "This isn't your place to speak. Do you have any idea what you're up against?"

Xu Qinya was puzzled. How could Zhao Han remain so undaunted?

Wasn't he the least bit afraid?

Why?

Lin Sheng stepped closer, his gaze lethal as he locked eyes with Zhao Han.

"With Lawyer Zhao on my side, if I want you dead, you're dead."

"I might as well be the judge, got it?"

As Lin Sheng's chilling words hung in the air, Xu Qinya sensed that something was amiss.

Lawyer Zhao?

Suddenly, Xu Qinya froze.

Could it be?

Then, with a serene smile, Zhao Han gently pushed Lin Sheng aside.

All eyes were on him as he made his way to Zhao Yue.

"Sister."

Zhao Yue looked at him with fondness, pinching his cheek affectionately. "You've stirred up trouble again, haven't you?"

The crowd was left speechless in astonishment!
