C5 Wanfu Restaurant!
Inside the office, Hsu Yunxiao was grappling with a serious issue. There was a glitch with the company's orders, leaving her unable to recover the funds. If she didn't find a solution soon, bankruptcy loomed on the horizon.
Her bestie, Lee Jie, didn't mince words. "This is all because of your lousy husband. Imagine if you'd married Yang Junchao instead. He's not only handsome and a taekwondo expert, but he's also returned from studying abroad with a bright future ahead of him. Plus, he's head over heels for you. Have you called him? Why hasn't he shown up yet?"
Mid-conversation, there was a knock at the door.
"I'm here!" Lee Jie's excitement was palpable as she urged Hsu Yunxiao, "Quick, tidy yourself up. You've got to make a stellar impression on Junchao."
But to their surprise, Qin Feng walked in, causing Lee Jie's face to fall. She had no desire to engage with him.
"Why are you here? Didn't I tell you to stop coming to the office?" Hsu Yunxiao's frown deepened. Qin Feng's presence was the last thing she wanted. His visits always led to snickers from the staff.
"I came to bring you money," Qin Feng said, setting down a suitcase with a hopeful smile.
"You're giving me money?" Hsu Yunxiao was taken aback and her irritation grew. How much money could he possibly have? Was he just trying to make her life more difficult?
Lee Jie scoffed at the scene. "Qin Feng, you and Yunxiao are worlds apart. She needs more than the few hundred yuan you're thinking of. Get it? If you had any decency, you'd stop holding her back. You're not in her league!"
Qin Feng bristled with anger. "You're not my wife. What's it to you?"
"You dare speak to me like that, you good-for-nothing who can only cook and clean?" Lee Jie spat out, fuming.
Hsu Yunxiao, equally annoyed, chimed in, "Qin Feng, show some respect for my friend, will you?"
Ignoring Lee Jie, Qin Feng placed the box on the table and announced, "Honey, this is eight million."
"Eight million?" Hsu Yunxiao was momentarily dumbfounded, then her annoyance flared anew. "I'm not in the mood for your jokes!"
"It's really eight million," Qin Feng insisted with a wry smile.
Lee Jie burst into laughter. "Yunxiao only gives you six hundred yuan a month. Even if you saved every penny, you'd barely have over three thousand after three years. Stop fooling yourself."
Before Qin Feng could explain, Hsu Yunxiao, exasperated, cut him off. "Enough. Go book a private room at Wanfu Restaurant. I'm hosting dinner tonight!"
She was desperate to get rid of him, to not lay eyes on him for a while.
"Fine, I'm on it," Qin Feng said, leaving the suitcase behind, hoping it would prove his point.
Hsu Yunxiao, however, kicked the suitcase aside without a glance.
"Yunxiao, you have to divorce Qin Feng!" Lee Jie insisted, then wondered aloud, "What's taking Junchao so long?"
"I'll check." Hsu Yunxiao dialed the front desk.
Lee Jie pressed on. "If Junchao helps you out this time, ditch your deadbeat husband and marry him. You've supported Qin Feng for three years; that's gratitude enough. He shouldn't be an anchor to your happiness."
Hsu Yunxiao, still on the phone, was suddenly taken aback. "My husband scared off Junchao?"
Lee Jie was equally shocked. They quickly reviewed the entrance's security footage. Indeed, Qin Feng had fought with Yang Junchao at the company's doorstep and sent him packing.
"We're doomed," Lee Jie lamented. "Junchao was our last hope."
Hsu Yunxiao felt a wave of frustration. Without Junchao's willingness to lend her the eight million, the company was as good as gone. She frantically tried to call Junchao to apologize on behalf of Qin Feng, but his line was unreachable.
"We'll have to move on to plan B. I'll ask Xiao Mann for a loan tonight; I've heard her new boyfriend is loaded," Lee Jie suggested. "But did you really send Qin Feng to book Wanfu Restaurant? That place will cost a fortune!"
A single meal at Wanfu Restaurant could run into tens of thousands, far beyond what most could afford.
Hsu Yunxiao sighed, "I had no choice; Xiao Mann insisted."
Lee Jie was livid. "She knows you're struggling, yet she demands a meal at Wanfu Restaurant."
"I've got thirty to forty thousand yuan left. It'll have to do for now," Hsu Yunxiao offered.
After leaving the company, Qin Feng hopped on his electric scooter and made his way toward Wanfu Restaurant. He dialed Old Fu's number, "Old Fu, can you get in touch with the owner of Wanfu Restaurant for me?"
"Young Lord, has he crossed you? Should I make Wanfu Restaurant disappear?"
"No, it's not like that. I've got a business proposition for him; I'm actually on my way there now," Qin Feng explained.
He ended the call and soon reached Wanfu Restaurant.
Looking up at the towering structure, Qin Feng nodded approvingly and murmured to himself, "It's conveniently close to home."
As he was about to walk in, a security guard abruptly blocked his path.
"What's your business here?"
"I need to speak with your boss," Qin Feng replied.
The guard sized him up with a skeptical look and retorted, "We hardly ever lay eyes on the boss ourselves. What makes you think you have the right?"
"I've got an appointment with him."
"Judging by your outfit, you're wearing maybe two or three hundred yuan's worth of clothes. And you're claiming you have an appointment with our boss?" The guard chuckled dismissively.
Qin Feng's brow furrowed as he shot back, "You're just a security guard. Feeling a bit above your station, aren't you?"
The guard's face flushed with anger, and he barked, "Get out of here!"
Not interested in further banter, Qin Feng pulled out his phone to call Old Fu again.
Just then, a stunning woman approached. The guard ogled her and whispered to himself, "To spend one night with a beauty like that would be worth dying for."
Qin Feng's gaze followed.
She was donning chic sunglasses and exuded undeniable sex appeal.
"Chiang Yuexin?"
He recognized her instantly. She was a high school classmate who'd since become a star. His wife was actually a fan and had long hoped for her autograph. What were the odds they'd run into each other today?
"Chiang Yuexin, it's me. We were in the same class senior year," Qin Feng said with a friendly smile.
Chiang Yuexin recognized him too. She had always seen potential in him back in the day.
But now, noticing his cheap shoes, she couldn't hide her distaste.
She had once been interested in him at school, but he was unambitious and indifferent to her.
At a class reunion, she learned that Qin Feng had married into the Hsu family and was living a pitiful existence—his wife only gave him six hundred yuan a month. To her, he was a complete failure.
The thought of having once pursued him now filled Chiang Yuexin with shame! And with so many fans around, how could she acknowledge him?
So she feigned ignorance and walked past Qin Feng.
As Qin Feng tried to speak again, her assistant stepped in front of him, looking down his nose, "Move aside. Stop harassing Ms. Chiang. How could she possibly have a classmate like you?"
Seeing Chiang Yuexin's indifferent demeanor, Qin Feng shook his head in disappointment. He hadn't expected his old classmate to become so materialistic.
The security guard smirked, "Trying to cozy up to a big star, huh?"
"Think this little act will get you close to Chiang Yuexin? That's hilarious."
The others joined in with their mockery.
Right at that moment, a sleek black Mercedes-Benz hurriedly pulled up to the hotel entrance!
