C19 They Had a Weakness
Xia Ming's logic was spinning too quickly, leaving Grandma momentarily unable to keep up.
Lin Feng, however, sneered coldly, "Xia Ming, have you lost your mind? What kind of joke is this, expecting me to give up the CEO position of the company? That would only happen if my head were caught in a door!"
Having joined the company at eighteen, Lin Feng had spent six or seven years tirelessly working to gain control. Now, with Grandma and all the relatives from Lin's Group ready to stage a coup at the family banquet, there was no way Lin Feng would pass up such a golden opportunity.
Xia Ming offered a faint smile. "Perhaps your head really has been caught in a door. We'll revisit this issue later. Grandma, I'd like you to answer my question first. If Lin Feng voluntarily steps down as CEO, would Lin Shuyu be the only person left to control the company?"
Gu Zhan Shan, standing beside Xia Ming, furrowed his brow.
He had sensed that Xia Ming wouldn't simply concede when he asked everyone to raise their hands. Gu Zhan Shan was very familiar with Liu Tianxiong. In conversations with Liu Tianxiong about Xia Ming, there was an unmistakable tone of deep admiration and submission.
The relationship between Xia Ming and Liu Tianxiong couldn't be that straightforward.
Xia Ming must be concealing some critical information. But now, Xia Ming seemed to be fixated on the dilemma between Lin Shuyu and Lin Feng, the two heirs, and Gu Zhan Shan was baffled.
Xia Ming's persistent focus on choosing between the two heirs was causing Grandma some anxiety. However, the conversation had progressed too far for her to refuse to answer.
"Of course! In the third generation of the Lin family, there are only four children. If Feng is unsuitable for the presidency, then naturally, Shuyu would take over... But such a scenario is unthinkable!" Grandma had favored Lin Feng since he was a child, and even if Lin Feng were timid, she would still support him to ascend to the CEO position of the company.
For this day, Grandma, Lin Feng, Lin Zhong, and others had been scheming for three years, and now they were just one step away from their goal. Neither Grandma nor Lin Feng would give up now.
"Excellent!" Xia Ming's lips twisted into a mischievous grin as he pulled out his phone.
Lin Feng gestured with a flick of his hand, signaling everyone to lower theirs, "Enough, Xia Ming, cut the theatrics! Shuyu, just sign already. Everyone's getting impatient…"
Lin Shuyu glanced at Xia Ming, a hint of reluctance in her gaze. Despite inheriting thirty percent of the shares from her grandfather, she'd still be at a disadvantage if all the relatives united against her, even at a shareholders' meeting.
Xia Ming gave Lin Shuyu's palm a reassuring squeeze. "Don't worry, my love. I've got this."
He then gestured to Lin Feng with a crooked finger. "Lin Feng, come over here. I've got something interesting to show you."
Lin Feng eyed Xia Ming warily. "What trick are you planning now, Xia Ming? The vote's been cast. Just accept it."
Xia Ming's mouth twitched slightly as he spoke calmly, "Are you sure you won't come over? You'll regret it if you don't. Remember two years ago, August 13th, in the alley of the southwestern estate at 3 PM…"
Before Xia Ming could finish, Lin Feng's face went pale, his lips quivering, "Xia Ming, shut it! What nonsense are you spouting?"
"You know exactly what I'm talking about. Are you coming or not? Or shall I go on?" Xia Ming taunted, brandishing his phone. Before he could continue, Lin Feng hurried over to him.
Releasing Lin Shuyu, Xia Ming shot her a comforting look before stepping aside with Lin Feng.
Lin Feng grabbed Xia Ming by the collar, his voice menacing, "Xia Ming, you can spout any nonsense you like, but watch your words. Or you might not live to see another sunrise!"
Lin Feng was well aware of the incident in the southwestern estate's alley from two years prior. He had covered his tracks thoroughly, yet the memory still haunted his dreams.
Unruffled by Lin Feng's grip, Xia Ming responded coolly, "Threats are pointless. Take a breath and let's have a look at your 'glorious' photos."
While speaking, Xia Ming activated his phone, revealing the information provided by Elder Pang.
Displayed on the screen were several crisp images. In them, Lin Feng and a group of young men were seen tearing a girl's clothes and pinning her to the ground. The subsequent images were of a nature not suitable for children, so no further description is necessary.
Lin Feng's body shook slightly as he viewed the photos, a flicker of panic crossing his eyes. "No... Impossible! Where did you get these photos? Are you... trying to deceive me?"
Xia Ming brushed Lin Feng's arm aside and spoke in a low voice, "On August 13th, you and three accomplices coerced a girl in an alley. Fearing exposure, you orchestrated a car accident with Brother Dao's help... Later, plagued by guilt, you've been anonymously donating to the girl's parents every year... Shall I go into more detail?"
The information from Elder Pang was incredibly thorough, detailing even the girl's hometown and her parents' house number, along with their mobile numbers.
"No... Impossible... You..." Lin Feng's gaze met Xia Ming's, his body nearly collapsing. Lin Feng couldn't fathom how, after such meticulous planning, there could still be such damning evidence in his hands two years later.
Xia Ming pocketed his phone, "Nothing is impossible. 'If you don't want anyone to know, don't do it.' Lin Feng, this is a case of assault and murder. Should this evidence come to light, the rest of your life will be ruined..."
Despite being ineffective, Lin Feng was still a core member of Lin's, and he understood the gravity of the situation.
"What do you want?" Lin Feng realized that Xia Ming must have a motive for revealing this information now.
With a wicked grin, Xia Ming replied, "It's quite simple. I want you to 'have your head pinched by the door.'"
Lin Feng paused, confused, "Have my head pinched by the door?" After a brief moment of thought, realization dawned on him, "Xia Ming, are you saying I should step down as president?" Lin Feng had previously declared that he would only relinquish his position if he were senseless enough to get his head caught in a door.
"You're smart, so you should know how to choose!" Xia Ming said, his hands casually tucked in his pockets, exuding an air of tranquility.
Lin Feng understood the implications without needing further explanation from Xia Ming. The critical information at hand made his choice clear.
A flicker of struggle passed through Lin Feng's eyes. "Xia Ming, don't push me! You must realize that I'm in control of the company today. I could easily pay ten million to make you vanish... Just give me the phone, and we can act as if none of this ever happened."
After all, Lin's Group was worth several hundred million. Lin Feng couldn't bear the thought of relinquishing it so easily.
Would Xia Ming be intimidated by Lin Feng's threats?
No chance!
"Fine, if you're not scared, go ahead and try!" Xia Ming said with a dismissive smile. "I'll give you three seconds to tell Grandma that you're ready to step down as president and wholeheartedly endorse Shuyu... Otherwise, I won't hesitate to make this evidence public..."
Without giving Lin Feng a moment to deliberate, Xia Ming began the countdown.
"Three!"
"Two!"
