C8 Revenge First!
Bei Qiuhua, after hearing Su Zhongwu's words, refrained from trying to sway Su Ze. Yet, she couldn't help but repeatedly caution him against acting rashly or taking unnecessary risks.
Su Zhongwu had another piece of news for Su Ze. To demonstrate his genuine allegiance, Su Dade, a Su family elder who had recently sided with the patriarch, took several confidants to pursue the fleeing Su Li and Xiao Hong last night.
Su Ze was taken aback by this revelation. Su Dade's actions spoke volumes about his belief in Su Ze's potential.
Despite being advanced in years, Su Dade was a steadfast elder with seasoned tactics. Seeing his latest move, Su Ze found it hard to hold onto any resentment, even though Su Dade had once allied with Su Bocheng.
"He's quite the schemer," Su Ze remarked with a chuckle. "But we do indeed need him, so he stays."
Su Zhongwu and Bei Qiuhua exchanged smiles and nods of agreement. Until now, no one had shown such a display of loyalty to Su Zhongwu.
Their conversation was interrupted by a commotion outside.
A messenger burst in, breathless. "Patriarch, the elder has come back wounded!"
Su Zhongwu and Su Ze hurried out to the courtyard to find Su Dade clutching his chest. He reported to Su Zhongwu, "The traitors got away. I was close on their heels near the Fang territory when two of the Fang elders blocked me. They even struck me! Why would they meddle like this?"
"The Fang family?" Su Zhongwu exclaimed through clenched teeth. "Not the Fangs again! I've had enough of their interference."
"Stay calm," Su Ze interjected. "We'll handle this methodically. Since the Fangs have made their move, I'll ensure they feel our retribution, little by little, over the next three months. With them united and us facing internal strife, it's not wise to engage them head-on."
Curiosity piqued by his tight chest, the injured Su Dade inquired, "What's happened?"
After Su Zhongwu explained the situation with Faang Qingya and the Fang family's inside agent, Su Dade's face flushed with fury. "They've crossed the line!"
"I'll summon Su Dayi, Su Daren, and Su Bocheng right away," he declared. "I refuse to believe that a united Su family can't take down the Fangs!"
Su Ze spoke with a grave tone, "Elder Dade, if you're willing to trust me, I ask for your patience. There's no need to inform Su Bocheng and the rest. I've got this under control."
Su Dade's expression was serious as he clutched his chest, "Su Ze, are you certain?"
"Absolutely, I have complete confidence," Su Ze assured him with composure.
Biting his lip, Su Dade conceded, "Fine, I'll trust you this once. But I'm only giving you so much time. If you fail, we must rally the entire Su family to confront the Fang family."
"It's not that I doubt your abilities—I have no question about your potential. But this issue affects more than just your betrothed; it's about the Su family's honor!"
"If we lose face, the Su family could fall to the status of a lesser clan. When I pass away, I'd be too ashamed to face our ancestors!"
Su Ze remained silent, offering only a respectful bow to Su Dade.
Even after Su Dade left to heal, Su Zhongwu was still seething with anger.
With a smile, Su Ze suggested to his father, "Now is not the time to strike at the Fang family, but we can still express our displeasure. Father, here's what you can do."
Su Zhongwu's eyes sparkled as he listened intently. "Good, let's proceed with that plan!"
Su Ze smiled and made his way out of the estate. Meanwhile, Su Zhongwu and Bei Qiuhua huddled together, plotting eagerly. Soon after, the Su family's servants sprang into action.
A contingent departed from the Su estate, heading for the Fang residence.
Strolling through the streets with a smile, Su Ze was unperturbed by the Su family's internal strife or the Fang family's malevolent approach. He felt as though he had everything in the palm of his hand.
His serene demeanor allowed him to navigate the bustling marketplace with an unhurried pace. Rushing passersby instinctively gave him room, as if he and the leisurely Young Master existed in separate realms.
Su Ze showed little interest in the wares of common shops. After a brief glance around, he arrived at Tieling City's largest martial arts supply store, the Glorious Martial Merchant House, purveyor of mental cultivation methods, martial skills, Element Gathering Powder, and weapons.
There were no graded medicinal pills or advanced weapons available, but the shop did carry Element Gathering Powder, Bleeding Control Powder, and a variety of sharp blades.
The most expensive mental cultivation method on offer was the Yellow Rank Low Grade 'Green Snake', priced at five thousand silver. Lesser mental cultivation methods ranged from five hundred to two thousand silver.
Martial Skills were valued between five hundred and two thousand silver as well. However, there were no Martial Skills of Yellow Rank to be found.
Su Ze pondered to himself, 'I don't need a mental cultivation method just yet. I can simply use my attribute points to enhance it.' 'As for Martial Skills, they're essentially palm techniques. But what if they fall short at times? Maybe I should look into a Martial Skill that involves weaponry.'
Suddenly, he overheard a venomous voice from upstairs: "I'm buying this saber to give Su Ze a taste of his own medicine. Let's see how smug he'll be after that!"
Laughter echoed in agreement.
Su Ze's eyebrows lifted slightly. Could it be Su Jiang and Su Hai?
As the sons of the Third and Fourth Elders, why did they bear such animosity towards him?
If Su Bocheng succeeded in a duel to the death with the patriarch, he would become the new patriarch. Su Hee, as the legitimate eldest son of the new patriarch, was poised to be the next in line.
Both Su Jiang and Su Hai were elders' sons. What could possibly be the source of such deep-seated conflict and animosity?
With a smirk, Su Ze ascended the stairs.
Upstairs, Su Jiang and Su Hai, along with Su Hai's siblings, Su Chi and Su Mo, were all present. They were chuckling and brandishing a slightly curved long saber, seemingly debating where to strike Su Ze.
"Have you made your choice?" Su Ze inquired, grinning.
Startled, Su Hai dropped the saber and turned, "Su Ze? What brings you here? How long have you been standing there?"
"Long enough to hear about your plans to take a swing at me," Su Ze replied, still smiling.
The faces of Su Hai, Su Jiang, Su Chi, and Su Mo turned sour.
"What's the matter? Cat got your tongues?" Su Ze prodded.
With a huff, Su Hai retorted, "We're leaving!"
The quartet moved to leave.
"Hold on a moment," Su Ze interjected.
Su Hai paused, "What now? Is there something else you want?"
"Put that knife back where you found it. The Glorious Martial Merchant House still has business to run."
Su Ze said, the hint of a smile in his voice.
Su Hai retorted furiously, "What's it to you? I won't do it!"
He was about to lead them away when Su Ze stepped forward, his palm striking Su Hai's shoulder in a move that was deceptively quick.
Su Hai tried to evade, but to no avail. Being merely at Acquired level 4 and having only mastered the first level of Gravel Palm, he stood no chance against Su Ze's swift attack.
With a calm demeanor, Su Ze instructed Su Hai, "You'll do as I tell you."
