C13 Saving the Two Brothers, Hiding on the Rooftop!

Netizens from Osmistan were fuming. Urlan's decision didn't sit well with them. It was fine if he thought he could handle things, but when others said the same, he just had to clap back!

"You mortals can't possibly grasp the Feather God's plans!"

"Yeah, how could you know whether the Feather God is clueless about those two?"

"With the sky this dark, who's to say the Feather God hasn't spotted something we missed? Instead of running your mouths, just wait and see!"

A Moskieso netizen, going by the ID Jing Shang, scoffed, "Pfft, keep being stubborn. As an old Osmistan proverb goes: 'Ride a horse to watch the play, but we'll see who has the last laugh!'"

"Hey, don't misquote our ancestors if you haven't learned their sayings properly. It makes you look foolish!"

"Actually, it's 'riding a donkey to watch the play!' But, I won't hold it against you. After all, you inherited your culture from us. It's not your fault Xu Fu didn't teach his wayward descendants properly!"

"If you lack culture, don't pretend to be a scholar. It's embarrassing!"

Urlan had no time for the chatter in the livestream. He was busy scaling the building with his two companions.

It was then that Preston snapped to attention and asked, "Who are you?"

Urlan's expression soured. "Relax, I'm here to rescue you."

Den was delirious with fever, swaying on his feet, but he managed to say, "Brother, my little brother may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he gets the job done. If you can, please give him a hand!"

Den didn't know this young man, but with no other options, he entrusted his little brother to Urlan's care. After speaking, Den pushed Preston away, saying, "I'll hold off the zombies below. You two make a break for it upstairs. Find a chance to escape and get back to base. Glen and the others are probably still around. Watch out for them!"

With that, Den handed something to Preston and gave him a shove.

"No, brother, we leave together!" Preston insisted with unwavering resolve.

"Be smart, I'm bitten. I'm done for. You need to survive!" Den implored in a hushed tone.

"No!" Preston remained defiant.

Urlan mused for a moment before asking inwardly, "System, what are his chances if I use my blood?"

[Information: As both are human, there's a 48.13% probability of inducing antibody production in the target's body.]

Urlan muttered to himself, "Great, so I had the highest chance of turning into a zombie when I got infected?"

[Information: Your circumstances were dire at the time; there was no alternative.]

Shaking his head, Urlan declared, "Come on, you've got a fifty-fifty shot at not becoming a zombie!"

"Do you have an antibody serum on you?" Den asked, astonished by Urlan's words.

"Enough talk. Move it, upstairs!" Urlan pressed.

This time, Den complied without further words, and Preston helped him scramble up the stairs.

Upon reaching the rooftop, Urlan found a stainless steel door that remained intact. Once Den and Preston were on the roof, Urlan shut the door and, with a focused thought, welded its edges to the frame, sealing it shut.

That effort nearly drained Urlan's mental energy.

"My mental strength is seriously lacking!" Urlan complained, then approached Den and said, "Open your mouth."

Den was out of it, so Preston pried open his brother's mouth. Urlan shaped the end of his steel pipe into a needle, pricked his finger, and dripped blood into Den's mouth. The semi-zombified Den didn't resist the blood; in fact, he seemed invigorated by it. When Urlan stopped, Den even nuzzled against him, prompting Preston to hold him back firmly.

"What's Feather God thinking, using his own blood to save someone? It's beyond me!"

"Exactly. If these two turn out to be ungrateful, what a waste of effort!"

"Being kind-hearted in the Chaotic Space is a liability!"

"Did anyone else see how Feather God's steel pipe was sharp as a needle?"

"Yeah, it looked like he used it to pierce his own finger!"

"Maybe he sharpened it himself! With enough effort, even an iron rod can be ground to a needle!"

"But Feather God had no time for that!"

"Maybe he did it earlier, in that hidden spot?"

"Think about it, would Urlan be fighting the virus and sharpening steel pipes at the same time? Is that even possible?"

"Bang!"

The sluggish zombies had tracked them by scent to the rooftop door and began to pound against it.

Preston, struggling to restrain his brother, looked to Urlan and asked, "What now?"

Urlan surveyed the rooftop layout, then made his way to the water tank. Climbing up, he checked inside and found water.

[Information: The water is not infected, but it's not potable.]

"Preston, secure your brother and put him in the water tank!" Urlan instructed.

"Hmm?" Preston's face was a picture of confusion. After all the effort of climbing stairs and drinking blood, was he now supposed to drown his own brother?

He wasn't the only one baffled; the live stream chat was awash with question marks.

"Has Feather God developed some kind of post-viral syndrome?"

"A corpse in the rooftop water tank? Why does this feel like some eerie murder mystery?"

"It's nearly midnight, can we not? I'm getting freaked out!"

Urlan realized that without an explanation, the straightforward Preston would never follow his instructions.

"Is your brother's temperature rising? Immersing him in water is to cool him down. Just keep an eye on him and make sure his mouth and nose stay above the surface. It's best if he lies in the water; it'll prevent his brain from frying due to the fever!" Urlan clarified, "And you need to keep talking to him, calling out to him, urging him not to give up! Got it?"

Preston nodded immediately, feeling the heat radiating from his brother's body.

Without further hesitation, he pinned Den's neck with his legs to avoid being bitten, stripped off his clothes, tore them into strips, bound his brother's hands and feet, and then dragged Den towards the water tank.

"I always knew Feather God had his reasons. Told you so!"

"But this delay... won't those zombies break through the door?"

"Yeah, those zombies seem super strong!"

"And that Preston, he's so harsh with his brother, treating him like he's tying up a pig."

"He's definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed. Feather God just called him over and he mindlessly followed, no questions asked!"

"Wait a minute, something's off. We've been listening to Feather God's conversation with them, and they never introduced themselves. How does Feather God know their names?"

By now, Preston was propping his brother up in the foul-smelling water tank, and it seemed he had just realized something. He echoed the viewers' confusion, "How do you know my name?"
