C7 The Breaking of One Leg
"Still coveting my fiancée, I see?"
Yang Sen glared at Qin Tian, who met his gaze with equal intensity.
"Lin Zhixi is mine. I'll take you down first, then snatch her and toy with her right before your eyes. The mere thought of it is thrilling."
"What are you waiting for? I don't want to see this man standing anymore. I want him to live out his days in a wheelchair."
Yang Sen's expression twisted into something monstrous. With his command, ten muscular men charged at Qin Tian.
They surged forward, but in moments, all ten lay on the ground.
As with the incident at King's Hotel, no one saw how Qin Tian had moved.
"Trying to lay a hand on my woman? You're truly despicable."
Qin Tian's voice turned chilling as he approached the petrified Yang Sen. Sensing danger, Yang Sen spun to flee but was swiftly caught by Qin Tian.
"Do anything to me, and my cousin will rip you apart," Yang Sen yelled, but Qin Tian responded with a swift kick to his calf.
"Crack."
The sound of Yang Sen's calf breaking under Qin Tian's kick echoed through the parking lot, followed by his agonized screams.
"This time, I'm only breaking one leg. Next time, you'll beg for death."
Qin Tian's voice was cold and menacing as he stared down at Yang Sen, who nodded frantically, his eyes seething with vengeance.
Shortly after Qin Tian left the parking lot, a Rolls-Royce pulled up in front of him. Tang Jincun was at the wheel, driving Qin Tian to his villa on South Hill, a residence prepared especially for Qin Tian.
After a brief conversation, Tang Jincun excused himself, and Qin Tian settled into a meditative posture on the living room sofa, embarking on his daily ritual.
Late into the night, in the Xia family's manor to the east of the city, Xia Yunyan sat gracefully in a bamboo chair, delicately swirling the wine in her goblet.
Dressed in a dark red cheongsam, she showcased her stunning figure. Despite being thirty, Xia Yunyan's complexion was as smooth and pale as that of an infant.
She wore a platinum necklace with a pendant that was a cherry-sized, aqua blue pearl.
Within the pearl, there seemed to be a ripple moving, and Qin Tian would have been very surprised to see it. The Water Spirit Bead around Xia Yunyan's neck was the very same.
Across from her, Yang Sen lounged on a sofa, his leg encased in plaster. The throbbing pain twisted his features into a grimace.
"Cousin, that guy made a mess of me. You have to help me get even."
Yang Sen's words came out through clenched teeth as he glared at Xia Yunyan, who returned his gaze coolly, her eyes flickering with contempt.
"You've been humbled by a nobody, and here I thought you were one of the prestigious Four Young Masters of the Cloud Sea. I have plenty on my plate right now, so you should focus on your recovery."
Xia Yunyan had little fondness for her cousin, bordering on outright dislike.
She had no desire to assist Yang Sen. Though it would be a simple task for her to deal with someone given her abilities, she chose not to.
"Cousin, that guy is no joke. My men are all professional fighters, yet they didn't stand a chance against him. If they had, I wouldn't be in this state."
"I'm aware you have a capable person at your side, cousin. If you help me with this vendetta, I'll do whatever you ask."
Yang Sen's frustration grew with each word, but Xia Yunyan merely smiled faintly and replied, "As I've already mentioned, I'm swamped and have no time for such trivial matters. Besides, even if I were inclined, I'm currently not in a position to help.
"Uncle Lyi is away on business and likely won't return for a month, so go ahead and handle your own affairs."
With that, Xia Yunyan stood and walked away without a backward glance.
"Cousin, you're really going to ignore me?"
Yang Sen called out after her retreating figure, only to be met with silence.
"If you won't help me, I'll just have to deal with that punk myself. Third Brother, get in touch with Boss Hu. I'm determined to have my revenge."
He spoke to his henchman, a steely resolve in his eyes.
The next morning, at precisely 8:45 a.m., Tang Jincun dropped Qin Tian off at the parking lot across from the Civil Affairs Bureau.
"Godly Doctor Qin, I need a favor. The Mayor of B City's father is gravely ill. Could you possibly take a look at him?" Tang Jincun asked, his eyes brimming with hope as he parked the car.
"Bring me to him tonight," Qin Tian replied with a slight nod.
After expressing his gratitude repeatedly, Tang Jincun finally drove off when Qin Tian gestured for him to go. No sooner had Tang Jincun left than a BMW pulled up in front of Qin Tian. Lin Zhixi and Fong Wan stepped out of the vehicle.
Qin Tian didn't expect Fong Wan to show up and frowned slightly at her arrival. Upon seeing Qin Tian, Fong Wan's expression soured instantly.
"Qin Tian, have you no shame? Look at you. You're not fit for Zhixi, and yet here you are at the Civil Affairs Bureau, ready to register your marriage with her," she spat out.
"Just a nobody, after money, aren't you? Here, take this and disappear," Fong Wan said, her voice laced with disdain as she pulled out a wad of red bills from her purse, amounting to a few thousand yuan, and flung them at Qin Tian.
The bills fluttered through the air, but Qin Tian merely frowned and remained calm, fixing Fong Wan with a chilly stare.
"Fong Wan, the moment you sold me out to Yang Sen, our bond as sisters was severed," he said icily.
"You claimed to follow me here to offer your blessings, yet this is what you do. I've made my decision to marry Qin Tian, and it's not within your power to stop it. Please leave, Fong Wan. We don't need to see each other again."
Lin Zhixi's face fell at Fong Wan's actions, which she had not anticipated. Earlier that day, Fong Wan had called her, and upon learning of Lin Zhixi's intent to register her marriage to Qin Tian, she had rushed over to Lin Zhixi's home, adamant about accompanying her.
Out of respect for their past friendship, Lin Zhixi hadn't turned her away, but she hadn't expected Fong Wan to behave so outrageously.
"Zhixi, have you lost your mind? Your family's business is on the brink of collapse, and at this stage, only Young Master Yang can bail you out. What do you hope to gain by sticking with this guy who has nothing? Can he even help you weather this storm?"
"By crossing Young Master Yang, the Lin family is just hastening its demise. I'm actually doing you a favor here; don't bite the hand that feeds you."
Lin Zhixi's response left Fong Wan seething with emotion, while Qin Tian just let out a derisive chuckle and remarked, "Looks like Yang Sen has been quite generous to you; otherwise, you wouldn't be so fiercely loyal."
"It's clear as day that you're pushing your best friend into a pit of fire, and yet she's 'fortunate' to have a friend like you."
Anyone could see Fong Wan's motives. Qin Tian, having said his piece, no longer paid her any attention. Instead, he took Lin Zhixi by the hand and they made their way across the street.
Lin Zhixi offered no resistance; after all, they were on their way to make their union official.
Watching the two of them walk away, a venomous look crept into Fong Wan's eyes. She swiftly pulled out her phone and dialed Yang Sen's number.
