C19 Mountain fog

I was less than ten meters away from A-Cong. After I fell down, he seemed to have disappeared from the face of the earth.

In front of them was a relatively wide open area, with only a few large trees standing in the middle. Could it be that he had run behind the trees?

I don't know what tripped me, but when I looked at my feet, I saw that there was nothing on the ground other than some scattered hay and a few small branches. I clearly felt something tugging at my feet …

I didn't have time to think about it anymore. I raised my head and shouted, "Ah Cong? Ah Cong? "

The sound echoed in the small mountain stream. Then, looking at the open space in front of him, it was as if there was a thin layer of gauze covering it. It was misty and hazy.

"Ah Cong?" "Ah Cong, where are you?" I continued to shout.

Still, I didn't reply. This time, I was scared. How can a living person disappear so easily? I raised my head and looked around as I walked.

The surroundings were eerily quiet. Time seemed to have stopped, and I could clearly feel my heart beating faster and faster.

Taking a few more steps forward, his vision became increasingly hazy and visibility became increasingly low. The thick fog came very quickly, and if things continued like this, it probably wouldn't even take ten minutes before visibility was reduced to less than ten meters.

This damned fog really came at the right time, I had never seen such a coincidence. I quickened my pace and walked another ten meters, then the height of the road beneath my feet suddenly dropped by a lot. It was as if I was walking in a trap that was hard to notice.

I steeled my nerves and looked ahead. Heavens, this really is a trap. I saw a huge round hole less than two meters in front of me, with a diameter of three meters. If I looked down, I would see that it was four to five meters deep, and there was even a person at the bottom.

This was none other than Ah Cong. Besides, there was a rabbit lying beside him. He must have been tricked by this trap while chasing the rabbit.

"Ah Cong, Ah Cong?" I stood on top of the pit and shouted out. At the bottom of the pit, Ah Cong's body slightly swayed.

This hole was at least four to five meters deep. Although the ground was covered in loose soil, a person wouldn't be able to bear falling into it. What did four or five meters mean? It was probably slightly taller than the two-story apartment building.

I was very anxious up there, and I was sure that Cong had fainted down there. I had to wake him up quickly and go down before the fog was completely gone.

I called out two more names before the man in the pit responded. He reached out to wipe the dirt off his face and slowly sat up.

"Ah Cong, how are you?" I asked with concern.

A-Cong rubbed his head hard at the bottom of the hole and said, "My bones should be fine, but I feel a little dizzy."

Thank God, I said to myself. Then I said to him, "Don't worry. Sit down and rest. I'll think of a way to pull you up."

The hole went straight up and down, and there was no support point to climb, so I had to think of something in my mind.

We didn't bring any rope when we came out, and it was too late to look for it now. I looked up at the big tree beside me, wondering if I could break a long branch to use as a rope.

Ignoring the still bleeding nose, I hugged the tree trunk with both of my hands and climbed upwards. The tree branch closest to the ground was about 3 meters away. Seizing the opportunity, I leaped and grabbed onto that tree branch, shaking it vigorously.

The branches creaked under my violent shaking, and finally the weight of my body snapped with a crack.

I landed on the ground and looked at the length of the branch. It was about five meters in length. I quickly handed a piece to Cong at the bottom of the hole and held the other end in my hand.

"Ah Cong, are you still unconscious?" I dragged you up here? " I shouted from above.

At the bottom of the cave, Cong nodded at me and reached out to catch the branch I handed down. Just as I was about to tug on it, he shouted, "Wait a moment, I'll throw the rabbit up to you."

Right after those words were spoken, a unconscious big white rabbit was thrown up. I stretched out my hands to catch it before placing it by the side. Then, I tugged on a branch with all my might.

A-Cong grabbed onto a branch with both hands and climbed up the wall bit by bit. It was easy to pick a person up, but this vertical pull was very strenuous. Fortunately, the army didn't mess up. My arm strength wasn't useless.

Eventually my hands were stripped of a layer of skin by the branches of the tree, and I managed to pull A-Cong up.

Both of us were extremely tired. Leaning against the tree beside us, we were panting heavily. If I had a bed to sleep on, I would have fallen asleep within a minute.

During our rest period, the mountain mist had already spread out and the visibility had dropped to about ten meters. It would be even harder to go down the mountain now than to climb the mountain.

The moment I mention ghosts, I recall my previous experiences when I fell. I clearly felt something pulling at my leg before I lost my balance. Why is there nothing on the ground and I could even land on the ground? Could it be that this forest was strange?

Although the sun was nowhere to be seen, after being tossed and turned for so long, it should at least be the second or third hour of the afternoon. At this time, our stomachs were growling in hunger, and we just happened to have a wild rabbit in our hands.

No matter whether it was worth it or not, the meat still had to be eaten. Furthermore, the rabbit meat should be very delicious, but first they had to find a suitable place to start the fire.

While we walked, we picked up the hay and dry branches from the ground so that we could roast the rabbits. After walking for an unknown amount of time, we suddenly saw a cave in the rock wall in front of us. After taking a closer look, we discovered that this cave was about one meter tall and two meters wide.

Because it was winter and the plants around the cave entrance were all withered, we discovered that if it was summer, the dense vegetation would completely cover the cave entrance, making it hard to find.

Since we discovered it, it was a kind of fate, at least it was a place for us to stay. We first went inside to roast the rabbit, and then we went in with Ah Cong who was half lying down. The top of the hole was only one meter tall, so we could only sit or lie down.

We were only looking for a temporary place to stay, so we didn't plan to go any further, because it was too dark to see anything.

A-Cong and I lit up the fire and immediately broke the rabbit's stomach and roasted it on a stick. After a while, a fragrant smell wafted into our noses. Although there wasn't much seasoning, it was still delicious. After all, it had been a long time since we had eaten so much meat, let alone wild food.

I couldn't wait to lick the bone again. I burped and looked out of the window. I still couldn't see anything clearly, and I didn't know when the fog would disperse. Before that, we would have to stay in this small cave where we had nowhere else to go.

The fog can be formed quickly, but no one knows when it will disperse. If we are lucky enough to disperse before dark, we will still have some hope of going back. If it is dark, we will have to spend the night on the mountain, because it is even more difficult to find a way out at night.

He did not know what time it was, since there was nowhere to go, he might as well lie down in this hole and take a nap, maybe after waking up, he would be able to clear his mind, eating and sleeping is the nature of animals, humans are also a type of animals, moreover, both A Cong and I are not hardworking people, even though I have been a soldier, but deep down I am still lazy.

I didn't know how much time had passed before I opened my eyes in a daze. It was already dark outside the cave, and I didn't know if the fog had dispersed. I was afraid that I would have to sleep on the mountain for the night before I remembered that I hadn't fed the livestock on the farm. I didn't know if Uncle Li had went to check up on us at the cabin today.

I yawned and was about to wake A-Cong up when I realized he wasn't beside me.
