C49 An Unexpected Event

Dusk had settled once again.

Choo Qin, mindful of Mi Xueyin's pride, had been waiting outside the so-called "Golden Garden" for quite some time. His plan was to "accidentally" bump into Mi Xueyin and then naturally pay her a visit.

However, to his surprise, Choo Qin waited and waited, but Mi Xueyin was nowhere to be seen.

He was certain that Mi Xueyin was inside the Golden Garden, yet as darkness enveloped the sky, he grew concerned. She should have emerged by now, based on her usual routine.

Choo Qin, who had just looked up, caught sight of a few familiar thugs. He had expected Mi Xueyin to be with them, but instead, he sensed something amiss in their conversation.

The thugs walked past Choo Qin, and the tall one with a dragon tattoo on his arm locked eyes with him for a moment, smirking with a sense of triumph as if to flaunt his success to an ordinary passerby.

"Let's head to the Rain Listening Pavilion and celebrate. Did you see that kid just now? Clearly, he wanted to get into the Golden Garden but didn't have the cash."

"Stick with me, and you'll go places! Without my keen eye, how could we have landed such a windfall today?"

The tall man burst into laughter, and his cronies joined in the merriment.

Little did they know, Choo Qin's expression had turned icy behind them.

"Wait."

Choo Qin's voice cut through the air, halting the thugs in their tracks. The tall man hadn't intended to look back, but something made him stop and, almost instinctively, he turned around.

"What did you just say?"

"Me?" The tall thug hadn't realized Choo Qin was addressing him. In his mind, someone like Choo Qin wouldn't dare confront him.

"Hahahahaha, you're telling us to wait? Are you out of your mind? Do you have any idea who I am?"

The lackeys around him erupted into laughter, clearly not expecting to encounter such a bold individual today.

"I'm not interested in who you are. What did you say before?"

"Just now? I said you're too broke to get into a place like Golden Garden."

"Not that part. What came after?"

"After? What?" The tall thug paused, confused. He thought Choo Qin was simply upset because he called him poor and was looking for an excuse to start a fight.

"Did you guys come into a lot of money?"

"Hmph, whether I'm rich or not is none of your business. You'd better watch your mouth!" The tall thug appeared to be offended by the intrusion into his private affairs, his annoyance evident.

"I'm feeling generous today, so I suggest you take a hike before I take care of you too!"

"Who do you think you're telling to scram?!" With a piercing look, Choo Qin set the tall thug ablaze with rage. Then, before any of them could react, their lower bodies were completely encased in ice.

Choo Qin didn't allow them the opportunity to cry out. The sheer agony contorted their faces.

The tall thug suffered the worst, barely resembling a person anymore.

"I ask, you answer. One wrong word, and you're dead!"

The other thugs shivered, their faces ashen with fear.

Who could have imagined that a random passerby would turn out to be an Old Mage Master, and a merciless one at that!
