C47 The Furious Hu Liang

"Let's go see what he's discarded!"

Upon receiving Hu Liang's command, the Shadow Bat carefully flew over to the garment and scraped at it with its claws, revealing it to be nothing more than a ragged piece of clothing stained with blood, likely from a Demonic Beast that had been slain by one of Chen Wu's own. The garment bore scratch marks as well. It appeared that Chen Wu had simply tossed aside his battle-damaged clothes in favor of a fresh set before moving on.

Yet, Hu Liang harbored doubts. Leaving behind clothing carrying one's own scent in the wilderness was an incredibly foolish act, and Chen Wu, with his rural hunter background, was not one to make such a basic error. Despite racking his brain, Hu Liang couldn't fathom why Chen Wu would abandon his clothes. Still, with caution prevailing, he instructed the Shadow Bat to keep its distance and continued the pursuit.

Little did he know that as soon as the Shadow Bat had begun to investigate the torn clothing, he had stepped right into Chen Wu's snare!

Chen Wu couldn't help but smile as he walked. He had anticipated that Hu Liang would scrutinize every trace he left behind, which is why he had deliberately dropped the clothes in a somewhat concealed manner, predicting that Hu Liang would send the Shadow Bat to inspect them. What Chen Wu's true intentions were remained a mystery to Hu Liang.

But that was of no consequence. He would find out soon enough!

Chen Wu felt a surge of confidence. Blood Rain perched on his shoulder, scanning the surroundings with a watchful eye. In this place, any unexpected danger could be lethal, and they couldn't afford to fall before outwitting Hu Liang.

Chen Wu had already stowed the Little Flame Firefox in the Demonic Pet Space. In this environment, the creature was of no use and would only serve to attract the attention of the lurking Demonic Beasts.

"Roar!"

The master and his avian companion finally proved too much for some of the Demonic Beasts to resist. They emerged with vicious, covetous looks in their eyes, ravenous and eager to devour the pair who seemed like easy prey.

Blood Rain let out a piercing alert, signaling to Yun Su the presence of several Demonic Beasts nearby, some of which it deemed too formidable to confront.

In the face of life-threatening danger, Blood Rain would not act recklessly. Instead, it would dutifully exert its utmost effort to safeguard its master's safety, elevating its energy to the pinnacle.

Suddenly, a whirlwind burst forth from a cluster of shattered trees, revealing a dark green predator that had long been lying in wait to launch a premeditated attack!

"Blood Rain, Iron Claw!"

Chen Wu's response was quicker still. Upon entering the area, he had prudently employed the Earth Listening Art to detect the Demonic Beasts lurking around. The earth's vibrations betrayed their presence; no matter how faint their breath or still their bodies, as long as their hearts beat, Chen Wu could sense them. Thus, when the ambush came, he was already prepared. Blood Rain's Iron Claw viciously aimed for the assailant's head!

The attacker was even quicker, realizing its sneak attack had failed. It astonishingly twisted in mid-air, contorting into a corkscrew shape to evade Blood Rain's Iron Claw, rolling to a stop some distance away before swiftly springing up, its eyes cold and cautious as they fixed on Chen Wu.

[Creature]: Wind Hunting Leopard

[Potential]: High-grade Bronze

[Bloodline]: None

[Level]: Bronze Grade 4

[Status]: Healthy

The initial assault came from a Bronze Grade 4 Demonic Beast, but Blood Rain was undeniably the dominant force, repelling the Wind Hunting Leopard with a single blow. The Wind Hunting Leopard, a Demonic Beast that valued the timing of its attacks, would decisively abandon the hunt upon a failed attempt if it saw no opportunity to succeed.

And so it did. Watching the Wind Hunting Leopard retreat reluctantly before finally vanishing into the thick underbrush, Chen Wu allowed himself a moment to relax his guard and continued on his journey.

The Wind Hunting Leopard had merely been a probe. The creatures lurking nearby and those bounding from tree to tree still refused to relent, persistently shadowing him. Similar to the Wind Hunting Leopard, other Demonic Beasts launched sudden assaults, all of which Blood Rain repelled. In the most ferocious encounter, a stealthy bamboo snake was expertly captured by Blood Rain's Iron Claw, which then savagely bit off and swallowed its head.

After they departed, the carcass of the bamboo snake was swiftly scavenged by an array of creatures that swarmed the area. In the background, the muffled sounds of Demonic Beasts fighting and growling over the remains could be heard.

Blood Rain and Chen Wu were splattered with blood, some from the snake and some from other Demonic Beasts. They appeared ferocious and somber.

Yet, Chen Wu didn't halt his advance. He was closing in on his goal. These Demonic Beasts were insufficient; they weren't enough to take down a Shadow Bat in a single encounter.

His true target lay in the creatures concealed within the large burrow beneath the robust tree in the distance.

"Roar!"

As Chen Wu neared, the Demonic Beast within the cave seemed to detect his presence, emitting a deep roar from within. The nearby Demonic Beasts could restrain themselves no longer, revealing their positions and lunging at the master and his Demonic Pet.

"Run!"

Chen Wu, soaked in a cold sweat, bellowed and sprinted at full speed.

Blood Rain soared above Chen Wu's head, emitting an angry screech. Its Feather Arrows flew like knives, striking at the pursuing Demonic Beasts and causing a persistent monkey to plummet from a tree.

Chen Wu's face contorted with urgency as he commanded, "Blood Rain, The Hawk Strike Force, get above!"

Blood Rain's reaction was a fraction too slow to Chen Wu's order. A rock the size of a fist struck its head, nearly sending it tumbling down. The Demonic Monkey seized the moment, its tail wrapped around a branch, and with a powerful swipe of its claw, it viciously aimed for Blood Rain's head, propelled by the momentum of the swaying branch.

"Spiritual Impact!"

Chen Wu precisely channeled the rune, and a wave of spiritual force solidified into a tangible blow that hammered down on the Demonic Monkey's head. The monkey screamed piercingly, losing its grip and tumbling from the treetop, landing in a disoriented heap on the ground.

Before it could recover, a lethal claw struck down mercilessly, and the monkey's brain burst open like a watermelon, spilling a gruesome mix of white and red onto the earth.

Blood Rain regained its composure, now vigilant and no longer taking any chances. It swiftly circled around Chen Wu, its Eagle Eyes fiercely scanning the surroundings.

At last, the mightiest Demonic Beast emerged. It was a purple lion, its purple-red fur dancing wildly in the wind like flames of fury. Its eyes, cold and merciless, scanned the upheaval within its realm. Yet, its attention was immediately drawn to Chen Wu and the Iron-feather Eagle, recognizing them as the instigators of the turmoil in its territory.

"Roar!"

The Lion King's roar silenced the Myriad Spirit. The sheer terror it exuded could weaken the knees of the bravest souls. Many Demonic Beasts cowered on the ground, while monkeys tumbled from trees, their screams of pain echoing through the air.

Here, it reigned supreme!

Blood Rain was terrified as well, the intimidating presence of a higher life form instilling fear, but it stood its ground. Its cries, however, were feeble and insignificant before the Lion King.

Chen Wu steadied himself, exhaling as if relieved, and suddenly dusted himself and Blood Rain with a handful of powder. Instantly, a foul stench enveloped the pair.

Yet, Chen Wu exclaimed with excitement, "Blood Rain, let's go!"

He rolled into a thicket, feigning death, and swiftly tucked Blood Rain into the Demonic Pet Space.

The Lion King shook its head, eyes blazing red, and locked onto a seemingly empty spot beneath a large tree. With a roar, it charged, and a burst of flame erupted from its maw, striking the tree. A piercing scream followed as a massive black Shadow Bat was revealed, struggling to fly with its wings ablaze.

From afar, Hu Liang's face whitened with rage. Ignoring the risk of exposure, he bellowed, "You bastard, I'll kill you!"

The Lion King, in a frenzy, pursued the Shadow Bat.

The other Demonic Beasts followed suit, their eyes bloodshot as they abandoned their pursuit of Chen Wu to attack the unrelated, yet hideous, bat.

Don't ask why; ugliness was its only crime.

Hu Liang's enraged and hysterical screams sent the Lang Family into disarray, clueless about the unfolding chaos. Meanwhile, Chen Wu, fighting off the stench, moved stealthily, a cold smirk on his face. Though intent on escape, he couldn't resist glancing towards the underground hollow.
