C37 Competition
After Zhao Su had roughed him up last time, Ruan Xinghao had become noticeably more reserved, hardly daring to say much in his presence.
It was completely unexpected when he took the initiative to invite Zhao Su to play basketball.
"Ruan Xinghao, what are you trying to do?" Luo Yuyan asked warily.
Her question intensified the frustration simmering in Ruan Xinghao, particularly because the previous incident had been a one-sided attack by Zhao Su.
Zhao Su was suspicious of Ruan Xinghao's sudden invitation to play basketball, doubting it was well-intentioned.
"I don't play basketball," Zhao Su responded with a straightforward refusal.
His blunt rejection left Ruan Xinghao momentarily stunned.
Quickly regaining composure, he insisted, "Zhao Su, you're tall. It's a shame for you not to play, especially since this is a school team-organized competition. If you win, you'll bring honor to our class."
Zhao Su simply shook his head and replied, "Find someone else."
After that, Zhao Su sat down at his desk, leaving Ruan Xinghao out in the cold.
A flash of anger appeared in Ruan Xinghao's eyes, but he quickly concealed it. His invitation was anything but kind-hearted; he was seeking an opportunity to teach Zhao Su a lesson.
Ruan Xinghao had not gotten over the embarrassment Zhao Su caused him in front of everyone and was determined to get even.
As the sports representative for the third-year, sixth class, Ruan Xinghao enjoyed playing basketball and was friends with the school team members.
After two days of scheming, he came up with the idea of the basketball match.
Ruan Xinghao was a member of the school basketball team, and the team captain was his cousin. Upon hearing Ruan Xinghao's complaints, his cousin immediately decided to take Zhao Su down a peg.
Ruan Xinghao was not prepared for Zhao Su's flat-out refusal and was left feeling deeply frustrated.
As Zhao Su calmly read a book at his desk, Ruan Xinghao silently vowed, "No matter what, I'll make sure you're in that game."
Ruan Xinghao didn't expect Zhao Su to outright refuse the offer, and it left him feeling quite disgruntled.
As he watched Zhao Su flipping through a book in his seat, Ruan Xinghao clenched his teeth and vowed silently, "No matter what, I'm going to make sure you participate in this competition!"
After class, the homeroom teacher, Yao Xinran, called Zhao Su into her office. Upon arriving, Zhao Su was taken aback to see Luo Yuyan there as well.
"Zhao Su, you must join the school's basketball team competition!" Yao Xinran declared.
"Big brother, please join the basketball competition. You're so skilled; I'm certain you can win and bring honor to our class!" Luo Yuyan implored, likely coached by Yao Xinran.
Faced with Luo Yuyan's plea, Zhao Su found himself unable to refuse. He nodded and said, "Okay, but I'm not very good at basketball."
"Don't worry, I'll take care of you," Ruan Xinghao said, entering the office with a joyful stride. He had been the one to persuade Yao Xinran to involve Zhao Su in the competition.
It seemed his plan had worked perfectly.
"When does the competition start?" Zhao Su asked.
"It begins tomorrow," Ruan Xinghao replied, his impatience evident.
After hearing this, Zhao Su nodded in acknowledgment, sealing the decision.
Ruan Xinghao allowed himself a subtle, triumphant smile. With Zhao Su's agreement to the game, the future was no longer in his control!
Soon, the time for the competition arrived.
