C48 Two Tigers
Class was about to start when Yao Xinran, the homeroom teacher, walked in with a folder in hand. She looked around at the students and said, "Folks, our school's Singing Competition is just around the corner, only two days away. I hope to see more of you sign up with enthusiasm. As of now, we have barely more than ten participants."
She paused briefly, flipping through her folder before her eyes landed on Zhao Su, a faint blush spreading across her cheeks. Trying to regain her composure, she cleared her throat and addressed him, "Zhao Su, you're the only one who hasn't told me your song choice yet. I need to know now so I can report it to the organizers of the Singing Competition."
"Yeah, big brother, I'm curious too. What song are you planning to sing?" Luo Yuyan piped up, looking at Zhao Su with a tilted head.
"I'll sing 'Two Tigers,'" Zhao Su stated.
"What? 'Two Tigers'? Did I hear you right? Isn't that a nursery rhyme?" Luo Yuyan asked, puffing her cheeks in surprise.
Yao Xinran was visibly surprised. She took a moment, then spoke earnestly, "Zhao Su, this Singing Competition is very important. A professor from the Music Department at Capital University will be judging, and local government leaders will be in attendance. A strong performance could be incredibly beneficial for your future. Please don't take this lightly."
"I'm not joking around. My choice is 'Two Tigers,'" Zhao Su replied seriously.
At his words, the students sitting nearby burst into laughter. They had all been preparing diligently for the competition, and Zhao Su's unexpected choice of a simple children's song had caught them off guard.
Meanwhile, in the live stream chat, the audience was perplexed by Zhao Su's song selection. "Host, have you lost your mind? Singing a nursery rhyme in a competition?" one viewer, 'Butterfly Wings Flapping', commented.
In this Singing Competition, everyone was determined to give it their all. No one expected Zhao Su to choose such a song. It could hardly be considered a proper song; it was merely a nursery rhyme that children would sing.
At that moment, Yao Xinran wanted to persuade Zhao Su to reconsider. But after seeing the seriousness in his eyes, she let out a soft sigh. She could already imagine the judges' reactions to this song choice—they would probably be laughing so hard they'd fall over.
Meanwhile, in the Host's live broadcast room, the audience was baffled by Zhao Su's decision.
Butterfly Wings Flapping commented, "Host, are you out of your mind? You're singing a nursery rhyme in a singing competition?"
Riding Two Shrimps chimed in, "Host, you're not taking this seriously at all. I'm so disappointed in you."
Amazing Third Master added, "Host, you used to sing so well. Have you become a bit too proud? You're actually choosing to sing a nursery rhyme?"
Pencil Head remarked, "Host, you've really crossed the line this time. I'm looking forward to seeing you get an earful from the audience."
The live broadcast audience was skeptical about Zhao Su's chances. Even Luo Yuyan, Zhao Su's staunchest supporter, quietly asked him if he should consider choosing a different song. "Don't worry, you know what I'm capable of; I'm confident I'll do well," Zhao Su reassured her with a confident wink. Luo Yuyan, though hesitant, held back her concerns.
She had a great deal of trust in Zhao Su. In reality, Zhao Su had lost interest in competing seriously in the competition. As for the final rankings, he was leaving it to chance. Zhao Su was already prepared for the possibility of elimination.
Later, Luo Yuyan pulled Zhao Su aside at the edge of the field, hoping to convince him to pick a different song. After all, Yao Xinran hadn't yet submitted the list of participants.
