C49 The Challenge of the New Star of Music
They had just settled onto a long bench by the edge of the sports field when a tall, slender, and strikingly handsome man approached, flanked by four or five equally tall young men.
"Mengmeng, what a coincidence to run into you here!" the leader of the group exclaimed.
Luo Yuyan looked up with a hint of surprise and responded, "Liang Deyu, what are you doing here?"
"I've just transferred to this school, all to see you every day," Liang Deyu declared.
Luo Yuyan slightly pursed her lips, her expression one of mild irritation.
At that moment, Liang Deyu turned his attention to Zhao Su, who was still seated on the bench.
"Mengmeng, who is this guy?" Liang Deyu asked with a hint of disdain.
Upon hearing this, Luo Yuyan shot him a glare and retorted, "He's my big brother! His name is Zhao Su, and he's none of your business. You better not pick on him."
Zhao Su felt a sense of resignation about Luo Yuyan's protective nature.
Despite his formidable strength—comparable to a humanoid monster and unmatched even by elite special forces—Luo Yuyan's overprotectiveness often made others perceive Zhao Su as nothing more than a pretty face without substance.
Predictably, Liang Deyu's eyes flashed with anger.
He turned to Zhao Su and accused, "Mengmeng, don't shield him! This guy probably charmed you with sweet nothings. He's worthless, surely just after your beauty!"
Luo Yuyan pouted in response and defended, "Liang Deyu, what are you talking about? My big brother is not like that at all."
Liang Deyu was visibly frustrated in the face of her defense.
Yet, he fixed his gaze on Zhao Su and warned, "Kid! I'm warning you, stay away from Mengmeng, or I'll teach you the true meaning of regret."
Zhao Su's anger flared at the provocation. I haven't done anything to you; why are you coming at me like this?
Zhao Su had his pride, and with Liang Deyu's relentless attitude, Zhao Su wasn't about to hold back.
Lifting his head, Zhao Su retorted with a cold laugh, "I don't need anyone meddling in my affairs, and how Mengmeng and I interact is none of your concern."
Zhao Su was not one to be easily intimidated. When Liang Deyu persisted in hounding him, Zhao Su didn't hesitate to stand his ground.
Lifting his head with a cold smirk, Zhao Su retorted, "I don't need anyone dictating my actions, and how Yuyan and I interact is none of your concern."
Liang Deyu was livid. At first, he had assumed Zhao Su was just an ordinary student sitting quietly off to the side. He never expected Zhao Su to have the nerve to talk back. Liang Deyu was not someone people typically crossed; few had the courage to speak to him in such a way.
Before Liang Deyu could even respond, one of his underlings roared, "Kid, do you realize who Deyu is? He comes from a prestigious musical lineage, with master-level skills in high-pitched music that are unrivaled. He's the music industry's rising star, a prodigy! And you dare speak to him like that? You're quite bold!"
After his henchman finished singing his praises, Liang Deyu's face displayed a smug restraint. He had been on the verge of losing his temper, but now that Zhao Su knew who he was, he felt he shouldn't stoop to arguing with someone of Zhao Su's status.
