C12 Zou Feiyun's Conspiracy
Yan Cheng immediately launched the Farm Game and spent 10,000 gold coins to upgrade his farmhouse to Level 2.
He had earned these 10,000 gold coins by selling the crops he grew on his farm.
With the farmhouse now at Level 2, he could reclaim an additional plot of land, bringing his total to three plots.
"Next, let's plant the newly released tomatoes on all three plots. Let me know when we're ready to upgrade to Level 3," Yan Cheng directed.
"Alright!"
Yan Cheng had made this decision because planting the latest crops yielded slightly more experience. They didn't need the basic crops at the moment; his strategy was to prioritize leveling up.
Meanwhile, the other two had woken up. Lang Zhe approached and suggested, "Cheng, you should take a break."
Yan Cheng accepted the suggestion; he really needed some rest before going out to hunt zombies, a task that required his full concentration.
After having a bite to eat, Yan Cheng settled down to rest.
Before long, a faint knocking was heard outside the supermarket: "Is anyone there?" The voice was soft, yet audible to Yan Cheng and his companions.
"Yes!" Lang Zhe responded.
"Hurry up and open the door, let me in!" the person outside pleaded.
"No!" Lang Zhe responded decisively.
The person outside paused, then bargained, "At least give me some food!"
"Trade it for a crystal core!" Lang Zhe countered, "After you kill a zombie, you'll find a crystal clear core in its brain. Bring that core to us, and we'll exchange it for food. The details are on the explanation written on the wall outside."
"If I try to kill zombies, I'm sure to die," the man outside argued.
Lang Zhe ignored him, and the man didn't dare to make more of a fuss, fearing he might attract zombies.
The standoff continued until another group approached from a short distance away, led by Zou Feiyun.
Upon seeing the man outside, Zou Feiyun inquired, "What's happening here?"
"People are inside this supermarket, but they won't let me in or give me food. They're asking for a crystal core in exchange for food. It's something found in the brains of zombies," the man explained.
Upon hearing this, Zou Feiyun addressed the supermarket directly, "Please open the door. This is the school's supermarket, and you can't claim it as your own."
Lang Zhe scoffed and retorted, "Zou Feiyun, you're the epitome of shamelessness. We risked our lives to take down five zombies for this place. Why should we just hand it over to you without any compensation? Give me one good reason."
Realizing it was Yan Cheng and the others inside, Zou Feiyun quickly demanded, "So it's you guys. Open the door now, or you'll regret it!"
"Idiot!" Lang Zhe shot back.
"You've made your choice!" Zou Feiyun said with a cold laugh. He then took out several cell phones, set the alarms, and strategically placed them around the supermarket.
"We need to get out of here fast. In ten minutes, the alarms will go off, and they'll be swarmed by zombies!" Zou Feiyun announced loudly, intentionally letting Yan Cheng and the others overhear.
"Zou Feiyun, you're despicable!" Huang Qiu cursed.
"We haven't left yet. If you change your minds now, I can still shut off these alarms," Zou Feiyun replied with a smirk.
"Zou Feiyun, won't you regret this?" Yan Cheng challenged.
"Don't be naive," Zou Feiyun answered. "It looks like you're not willing to part with the food, so we're leaving!"
With that, Zou Feiyun and his group promptly departed.
"Cheng, what do we do now? Should we go out and turn off the phones?" Lang Zhe inquired.
"There's no time," Yan Cheng replied, shaking his head. "It would take us five minutes just to get out, and Zou Feiyun has already wasted some of our time."
The entrance was thoroughly blockaded.
"So, what's our plan?" Huang Qiu asked.
"We wait," Yan Cheng decided. "The ringtone isn't that loud, and it won't attract many zombies. Besides, the phones haven't been charged in two days; they won't last long. Even if the phones keep ringing, the zombies won't necessarily linger around the supermarket forever. Let's just wait it out."
The others agreed without objection. Shortly after, about seven cell phones began ringing simultaneously, their sound carrying far across the quiet campus. Zombies nearby started to gravitate towards the noise.
