C12 The Revenge of the Wang Family

The shocking news that the Wang family's young master and young mistress were brutally beaten at the entrance of the Celestial Pavilion spread like wildfire across Silkwick City, sending shockwaves through the entire Wang clan. It was a vicious slap in the face to the Wang family's honor!

"Butler, is my father aware of what happened?" At the First People's Hospital of Silkwick City, Wang Fugui fought to contain his rage as he addressed the middle-aged man with a small mustache standing beside him.

"Young Master, the news is all over Silkwick City by now; the old master is certainly aware. He insists that the Wang family's dignity cannot be so easily trampled upon. However, since you were the one who lost face, it's up to you to reclaim it," the butler replied, his head bowed.

This was Wang Qiang, the Wang family's butler, second in command only to the family head and the siblings Wang Fugui and Wang Yanna. His loyalty to the family was unmatched.

"Do you even have to ask? Butler, I don't care how you do it, but you must track down Nie Feng for me. If I don't take him down today, I might as well not call myself Wang Fugui!" Wang Fugui snorted, his voice seething with fury. The burning sensation on his face was a constant reminder—not just of the physical wound left by Nie Feng, but of the deep disgrace it represented for his family.

"Rest assured, Young Master. I'll find him immediately," Wang Qiang assured, nodding before he and his men swiftly exited the hospital.

"Brother, you must kill that bastard for me!" Wang Yanna wailed, her face a mess of tears and snot. As the pampered young mistress of the Wang family, she had been the jewel in their crown from birth. Revered and cherished by all in Silkwick City, not even the family head had ever laid a hand on her. Yet today, she had been viciously attacked by some unknown thug. The injustice was unbearable.

"Yanna, don't worry. I won't let him get away with this! Nie Feng won't live to see another sunrise," Wang Fugui promised, a fierce glint in his eyes.

After giving Wang Fugui a thrashing, Nie Feng was in high spirits. He rounded up Gao Yang, Lee Erniu, and the others for a celebratory round of drinks at the local food stall.

"Feng, you're incredible! You actually had the guts to take on Wang Fugui?" Lee Erniu exclaimed with admiration.

"Erniu, you don't get it. No matter how tough Wang Fugui thinks he is, he's a nobody in front of our Feng," the little monkey chimed in, dishing out a compliment without missing a beat.

"Feng, are you aware of the Wang family's clout in Silkwick City? You've hit Wang Fugui; they won't just let that slide. I'm worried you're putting your life on the line!" Gao Yang expressed his concern.

Gao Yang was acutely aware of the Wang family's influence; their wrath could make Silkwick City quake. Nie Feng's confrontation with Wang Fugui was sure to incite their vengeance.

"It's no big deal. That loser had it coming for trying to stiff me last time, and then he had the nerve to strut around in front of me today. He got what he deserved," Nie Feng replied nonchalantly. The Wang family was a minor concern to him. If he wanted, he could make the whole clan vanish quietly into the night. But taking such action might force him to go on the lam.

"Feng, I know you're capable, but showing off your edge can backfire. You've just gotten back to Silkwick City and haven't even settled in yet, and now you've crossed the most powerful people here. What are you thinking? Listen, let me make arrangements for you to get out of here. If we wait any longer, it might be too late," Gao Yang advised with a note of desperation.

"Brother Yang, I appreciate your concern, but don't worry. There's a long line of people out there who'd love to see me dead. What's the Wang family in the grand scheme of things? Even if he's the big shot of Silkwick City, I'm ready to take him down a peg!" Nie Feng declared, slamming his hand on the table with authority.

Just then, a convoy of seven or eight vans rolled up. Over a hundred people piled out and encircled the entire eatery. The other patrons, terrified by the unfolding drama, bolted for the exits. Soon, only Nie Feng and his three companions remained, standing their ground in the deserted venue.

"Feng... Brother Feng, could these guys be from the Wang family? There's so many of them. What do we do?" Little Monkey stammered, clearly terrified.

"Don't sweat it. A scar the size of a bowl is just a mark of a man. In eighteen years, I'll still be standing strong. Brother Feng, since you had my back that one time, my life, Lee Erniu's life, is yours. Even if it means death, I'll stand by you," Lee Erniu declared, gripping two kitchen knives and fixing a steely gaze on the Wang family's men.

"Let's not be hasty. They outnumber us. We need to look for a chance to make a break for it," Gao Yang advised, his experience with high-stakes situations keeping him cool-headed.

Soon, a stretch Lincoln pulled up before the group. A lackey hurried to open the door, and out stepped Wang Fugui, decked out in a suit and fur coat, a cigar clamped between his teeth. He smiled at Nie Feng, his panda eyes hidden behind sunglasses.

"Well, well, Mr. Wang, bringing such a crowd—what's the plan? Surely you're not here to take us out?" Gao Yang asked, grinning.

"Exactly. Everyone here is going down today. Nie Feng, I'm going to show you what happens when you cross the Wang family! If you have any last words, now's the time," Wang Fugui boasted, looking at Nie Feng with disdain. In his eyes, Nie Feng was as good as dead.

"Hahaha, Mr. Wang, looks like you still haven't had enough of a beating. Out looking for a thrashing in the middle of the night? You're really something else," Nie Feng chuckled, his demeanor relaxed, clearly not intimidated by Wang Fugui.

"Hahaha, Nie Feng, honestly, I've got to hand it to you. Staring death in the face and still playing it cool. Sure, you can fight, but no matter how tough you are, can you take on over a hundred of my men?" Wang Fugui sneered, flicking his cigar onto the ground, "You think you can take me? Go ahead, give it your best shot."

No sooner had Wang Fugui's words fallen than Nie Feng sprang into action. In a blur, he was right in front of Wang Fugui, and the next moment, Wang Fugui was sent flying into the car, the windows shattering on impact.

Everyone was dumbstruck, unable to grasp how Nie Feng had made his move, including Gao Yang and his group, who were visibly incredulous.

"Man, Mr. Wang, seems like you've got a penchant for punishment. If you're sick, you've got to get that treated, can't just let it fester," Nie Feng said, concern etched on his face as he peered into the car.

Wang Qiang was petrified, scrambling into the car and dragging Wang Fugui out. Luckily, Nie Feng had no intention of killing Wang Fugui, who, aside from a few broken bones, was relatively unharmed. Gao Yang had a point; Nie Feng, no matter how formidable, wasn't ready to take on the behemoth that was the Wang family. At most, harming Wang Fugui would only mean a fallout with the Wangs. But killing him? That would have sparked an all-out war with the family—a battle Nie Feng wasn't sure he could win.

Relieved to see Wang Fugui alive, Wang Qiang breathed easier. Had Wang Fugui been seriously hurt, Wang Qiang's own life would've been on the line.

"What are you waiting for? Get moving and take down this son of a gun to avenge the young master!" Wang Qiang bellowed at the onlookers.

Spurred by Wang Qiang's command, the Wang family's henchmen snapped to attention and charged at Nie Feng and his allies.

"Monkey, Erniu, keep Yang safe!" Nie Feng bellowed, darting into the fray. Monkey and Lee Erniu grabbed their makeshift weapons and clashed with the Wang family's goons.

Though Monkey and Lee Erniu weren't exactly martial arts experts, they could easily take on five or six opponents each, ensuring Gao Yang was well-protected. Gao Yang himself was another story; his slight frame was no match for the brawlers, so he stayed tucked behind his two guardians.

Lee Erniu's kitchen knives sliced through the air with ferocity, chopping down anyone in his path without hesitation. His towering presence alone was enough to make the Wang family's men think twice before approaching.

On Nie Feng's end, the fight was a total rout. No one could withstand even a single strike from him. In no time, the Wang family's entourage was sprawled across the ground, most with broken limbs, rendered immobile.

Wang Qiang was sharp enough to realize he had hit a snag today. Without hesitation, he bundled Wang Fugui into the car and sped off. By the time Nie Feng and his crew had dealt with the hundred-odd thugs, the Lincoln had vanished into thin air.

"Feng, the Wang family's goons are such pushovers. They couldn't take a hit, and we took them down in no time," Little Monkey said, mopping the sweat from his brow with a grin. Despite his bravado, he had taken a hit in the fray, leaving a gash on his head.

"Hey, Monkey, you're hurt. Is it serious?" Lee Erniu asked, concern etching his features.

"Don't sweat it, I'm okay. It's just a scratch; not gonna kill me," Little Monkey replied nonchalantly, brushing off the concern with a wave of his hand.

"Glad to hear you're alright. Brother Feng, I've got to say, I'm in awe of you. Your moves are incredible. Would you consider teaching me?" Lee Erniu asked, his eyes shining with excitement as he turned to Nie Feng.

Indeed, Nie Feng had single-handedly taken down nearly all of the assailants, and the entire skirmish had lasted less than five minutes. There's truth to the saying, "An expert's touch is immediately evident." Both Lee Erniu and Little Monkey were skilled fighters, but they now realized they were novices compared to Nie Feng.

"Enough chit-chat. We need to get moving before the cops show up to sweep the area," Gao Yang interjected, ushering the trio away from the scene.

They hadn't gone far before splitting up. Little Monkey and Lee Erniu headed back to their dorm, while Nie Feng decided to escort Gao Yang home first, in case they ran into any more trouble from the Wang family.

"We've definitely burned bridges with the Wang family this time. They tried to get revenge and ended up with egg on their faces. They're bound to be seething and will probably spend big bucks to hire hitmen to come after you. You've got to stay sharp, Feng," Gao Yang cautioned as they reached his apartment building.

"Relax, Yang. I'll be fine. But you need to watch your back. The Wang family won't just let this slide. Call me if anything comes up. And if things get too hot, take your sister-in-law and Xiaoxiao and lay low for a while," Nie Feng advised.

Gao Yang offered a slight smile and replied, "It's the thought that counts, and I appreciate it. I've been navigating the martial arts world for over a decade; it hasn't been for nothing. Rest assured! Besides, Xiaoxiao's condition has taken a turn for the worse lately. She needs medical attention, and we can't just up and leave anytime soon..."
