C14 I Can Cure It

The doctors couldn't help but chuckle at the thought. They were curious to see what punishment the Ouyang family would mete out to the rash young man who had burst in uninvited.

"Bastard, do you think you belong here?"

Dean Chen had breathed a sigh of relief, believing he had narrowly escaped a disaster. But to his astonishment, the young man had the audacity to show up and wreak havoc. Already harboring considerable dissatisfaction with Lee Mu, Dean Chen's hostility now boiled over into rage as he pointed at Lee Mu's nose and berated him loudly.

Yet, to Dean Chen's bewilderment, Lee Mu remained unfazed by the scolding, instead walking deliberately toward Ouyang Duoduo and fixing her with an intense gaze.

"Didn't you hear me speaking to you? This isn't where you should be. Leave within three seconds, or I'll call the police!"

Dean Chen's voice grew increasingly animated. Clearly, he had pegged Lee Mu as a troublemaker, and his attitude had shifted from initial disgust to outright anger.

But what Dean Chen couldn't stand was Lee Mu's complete indifference to his words. Glancing at the nurses and doctors beside him, he implored, "What are you all standing around for? Get this brat out of here. Can't you see he's already..."

"Stop!"

The medical staff halted in their tracks as a woman's voice rang out. They realized it was Ouyang Duoduo who had spoken.

Judging by the tone of Ouyang Duoduo's voice, she was also quite upset. Dean Chen shivered with fear, knowing full well he couldn't withstand her wrath. He quickly offered an apologetic smile.

"Miss Ouyang, I am terribly sorry. I'll get rid of this troublemaker right now. He won't be allowed to linger here..."

Dean Chen hurried over to Lee Mu, ready to usher him out, but Ouyang Duoduo's cold voice stopped him in his tracks, "I told you to stop. Did you hear me?"

"What? You want me to stop?"

Dean Chen paused, flabbergasted. He couldn't understand why Ouyang Duoduo was directing such fury at him when it was Lee Mu causing the disturbance.

"You're right, I'm telling you to stop."

Ouyang Duoduo had no desire to continue conversing with Dean Chen. She shifted her focus to Lee Mu. She refrained from ejecting him outright because she recognized him.

Ouyang Duoduo and Lee Mu were alumni of the same institution. Both were medical students, and they had encountered each other at a debate at Usiross University. Although she didn't recall Lee Mu's name, he had made an impression on her.

That was because Lee Mu had publicly criticized her in front of many, an event that remained vivid in her memory.

"Is that you?"

Upon hearing Ouyang Duoduo's words, Lee Mu offered a faint smile. Truthfully, he was surprised that Miss Ouyang remembered him at all. But this recognition made things much simpler. With a slight shrug and a smile, he said, "I'm flattered that Miss Ouyang still remembers an ordinary person like me. It's quite fortunate indeed!"

Ouyang Duoduo, finding Lee Mu's banter excessive, furrowed her brow. She glanced at Zhan beside her and then turned back to Lee Mu, saying, "Whether you're an ordinary person or not is irrelevant to me. Right now, I need an explanation from you. Why did you barge in here in such a hurry? What's your intention? If you can make it clear, I'll let you go right away. Otherwise..."

Before Ouyang Duoduo could finish, Zhan stepped up to Lee Mu. Lee Mu noticed a subtle energy emanating from Zhan. Ever since a chip had been passively implanted in his brain, Lee Mu's perception of others had changed dramatically. He could sense their distinctiveness without them uttering a word.

Zhan might appear average, but Lee Mu was aware that he was far from it.

"Young man," Zhan began, his tone courteous, "from your exchange with my Miss, it's clear you're acquainted. However, as you can see, the head of our household is gravely ill and has no time for catching up. If you have any sense, you'll leave at once."

Zhan was being exceptionally polite, yet Lee Mu's bold presence indicated he was fully prepared for this encounter. Even though he recognized Zhan's formidable skills, it wouldn't deter him from his plans.

"Sir, there seems to be a misunderstanding. I've only met Miss Ouyang once, so it's not accurate to say we're acquainted. I came over because I overheard that Old Mr. Ouyang is having some health issues. As a doctor dedicated to saving lives, I believe I can offer my assistance."

"You?"

Zhan clearly hadn't anticipated such a response from Lee Mu. He was skeptical of Lee Mu's capabilities, especially since the expert they had summoned was due to arrive shortly. Allowing Lee Mu to intervene at this point seemed like an unnecessary and significant risk.

With a furrowed brow, Zhan gave Lee Mu a cold stare and said, "Young man, pardon my skepticism, but I fail to see what qualifications you possess. Many doctors have already examined my father's condition to no avail. Do you really think you, a novice, have the skills to succeed where they have not?"

Lee Mu shrugged and glanced back at Dean Chen before replying, "I'm a top student of Dean Chen. Rest assured. I'm aware of Old Mr. Ouyang's distinguished status, but human life is paramount. Furthermore, Old Mr. Ouyang may not survive the next half hour. By the time that so-called overseas expert arrives, it might be too late. We're at a critical juncture."

Lee Mu spoke casually, but his words caused Ouyang Duoduo's heart to clench. As a medical student herself, she knew all too well the gravity of her father's condition. She had been managing her anxiety until Lee Mu's reminder, which only heightened her sense of urgency.

"Young man, what nonsense are you spouting? Who's disciple are you claiming to be? I don't recognize you. Stay away from me, and don't drag me into this mess," Dean Chen blurted out in fear, hastily disassociating himself from Lee Mu. He realized that being associated with someone like Lee Mu could only bring trouble. At this moment, his priority was self-preservation; crossing the Ouyang family could have dire consequences.
