C16 No Big No Small

Confronted with Xu Jin's skepticism, Lee Mu merely offered a slight smile. For him, the present moment was the perfect opportunity to demonstrate his capabilities. Seizing this chance would mean securing his future at KM Hospital. Eventually, the so-called directors and chief physicians would be powerless against him.

"Please, young lady, don't interfere. Our family's fate now rests in the hands of this young man."

Xu Jin's brow furrowed upon hearing Zhan's words. She couldn't fathom why the old man regarded Lee Mu as their savior.

No, there had to be some misunderstanding. She couldn't allow Lee Mu to proceed with treatment so recklessly. Even though Lee Mu had successfully treated his illness with acupuncture, Old Mr. Ouyang was currently facing a matter of life and death. The previous concern of psittacosis paled in comparison to the current emergency.

Thus, after Zhan spoke, Xu Jin stepped in front of him once more, blocking his path.

"Sir, you might be unaware, but this young man isn't actually a doctor. He's merely an experimental subject employed by KM Hospital. Please reconsider for the sake of your elder, and think carefully before you act."

Despite Xu Jin's earnest demeanor, Zhan paid her no heed. He was convinced of Lee Mu's ability to assist. In that instant, Lee Mu dashed to Xu Jin's side, grinning, "Big sister, if his own family has no objections, why not give me a chance? Rest assured, I won't let you down."

While speaking, Lee Mu gently guided Xu Jin back into the emergency room. Zhan, witnessing the scene, hurried after them. As they all entered, their eyes immediately locked with Ouyang Duoduo's.

"Young man, who gave you permission to come back in? Didn't I tell you to leave?"

Ouyang Duoduo's expression soured at the sight of Lee Mu. She addressed him with an icy tone.

Yet, Lee Mu seemed oblivious to her words, continuing to lead Xu Jin by the arm to Old Mr. Ouyang's side.

"What are you trying to do?"

Ouyang Duoduo, visibly upset by Lee Mu's disregard, became flustered. Her demeanor shifted dramatically as she hastened towards Lee Mu, reaching out to grab his arm in an attempt to pull him away. It was then that she noticed another figure approaching swiftly—it was Zhan.

"Zhan, please help me get them out of here quickly!"

Upon seeing Ouyang Duoduo's anxious demeanor, Zhan quickly responded with a reassuring smile, "Miss, I believe it's necessary to give this young man a chance to try. At the moment, we really can't come up with a better solution."

"What are you saying, Zhan? You want this kid to give it a try? Am I hearing you correctly?"

Ouyang Duoduo could never have imagined that the always prudent Zhan would suggest such a thing. What did he mean by "give it a try"? It wasn't just about Old Mr. Ouyang's reputation and standing; even for an ordinary person, this wouldn't be appropriate. How could such a critical matter be treated so lightly?

Noticing Ouyang Duoduo's confusion, Zhan gave her shoulder a comforting pat and whispered, "Miss, rest assured, I'll be right here overseeing everything. If he steps out of line, I'll deal with him first."

Despite her lingering skepticism, Ouyang Duoduo chose to trust Zhan's judgment. She knew of his deep bond with her father, akin to that of brothers, and his unwavering dedication to the Ouyang family. He wouldn't do anything reckless.

As Ouyang Duoduo began to feel a bit more at ease, Zhan turned to Lee Mu and spoke in an even tone, "In that case, young man, please have a look. If you can indeed cure our family's patriarch, know that our gratitude will be substantial."

Lee Mu nodded. Truth be told, he wasn't interested in any rewards. He firmly believed that his actions should be independent of others' influence and that his efforts were motivated purely by his own convictions.

With that in mind, Lee Mu glanced at Xu Jin and called out to her, "What are you waiting for? Come and lend a hand!"

Xu Jin's brow furrowed. She was a project leader at KM Hospital, after all. Why should she now take orders from Lee Mu? Wasn't that a bit presumptuous?

What baffled her even more was how Lee Mu managed to persuade the chairman of this renowned family in the East Sea to entrust him with such a task willingly.

"Hey, big sister, remember you're my assistant. Once I've treated him, you can claim the credit. How does that sound?"

Upon hearing Lee Mu's words, Xu Jin couldn't help but purse her lips. She wasn't preoccupied with the notion of taking credit; rather, she found the idea of success to be impossible. With the entire KM Hospital at a loss over Old Mr. Ouyang's illness, how could Lee Mu, a recent college graduate, manage to accomplish such a feat?

Xu Jin found the situation incredulous but kept her thoughts to herself. Voicing them seemed pointless at this juncture. Since Lee Mu needed her assistance, she resolved to lend a hand, leaving the outcome of Old Mr. Ouyang's condition out of her concerns.

Lee Mu, meanwhile, had extracted a black box from his chest, revealing several silver needles within. The sight of these needles only deepened Xu Jin's skepticism. She had seen Lee Mu use them to treat his psittacosis before, but she remained convinced it was mere happenstance.

She couldn't fathom how Lee Mu, with his limited experience, could possibly treat a heart condition with silver needles. In all her years, Xu Jin had never encountered such a case.

"Kid, are you certain this will work? Do you realize the gravity of the patient's condition? If you're thinking of replicating your previous success, I'd wager it's not going to be effective," she challenged.

Xu Jin was adamant in her belief that Lee Mu was biting off more than he could chew, mistaking his limited skills for the expertise of a legendary healer. Such a notion was patently unrealistic.

Lee Mu, however, wasn't concerned with her doubts. His mind was set on a singular course: to follow his plan, regardless of whether his ideas were right or wrong. Having been given the chance, he was ready to assume full responsibility for the outcome.
