C19 He Woke up

Everyone was astounded by the scene before them. They couldn't fathom how this seemingly unreliable young man had managed to cure Old Mr. Ouyang's illness. What he had accomplished was akin to snatching someone back from the brink of death itself. What an astonishing feat!

"Look, Old Mr. Ouyang's heartbeat, temperature, and blood pressure are all back to normal!" exclaimed the nurse.

With that announcement, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. It appeared that this young man truly had remarkable abilities; their initial judgments had been mistaken.

However, there was no time to attend to Lee Mu, as Old Mr. Ouyang's reputation and standing in Prifield demanded immediate attention. They all sought to ingratiate themselves with him.

Dean Chen and his cohort of cunning associates were particularly eager, rushing to the elderly gentleman's side to express their concern with an almost servile eagerness.

Xu Jin observed their behavior with a shake of her head, disapproving of such a lack of principle. She despised such sycophancy. To her, the wealth and influence of the Ouyang family held no allure; her passion lay in the pursuit of medical research.

Yet, what truly took Xu Jin by surprise was the young man she had once viewed merely as a research subject. She had underestimated him, thinking his medical background, though solid, wouldn't stand out. She had been profoundly mistaken.

This young man was a gem, and fostering a good relationship with him could significantly benefit her research endeavors.

At present, the priority was ensuring Lee Mu got the rest he needed. The ordeal with Old Mr. Ouyang had taken its toll on him. He was still half-conscious, drenched in sweat, and his complexion was ashen – a clear sign of exhaustion.

Meanwhile, Uncle Zhan remained vigilant by Old Mr. Ouyang's side, monitoring any changes. Although the elder's health had improved, he had yet to regain full consciousness. Thankfully, his vital signs were stable, offering a measure of reassurance to all concerned.

*Ring ring*

Uncle Zhan's phone rang just at that moment. He quickly glanced at the caller ID—it was the doctor who had recently returned from abroad. With a frown, Uncle Zhan promptly hung up and slipped the phone back into his pocket.

But it wasn't long before his phone rang again. This time, with a hint of irritation, Uncle Zhan answered the call.

"Hello, Uncle Zhan. I'm almost there, just ten more minutes and I'll arrive..."

"Wait another ten minutes? Are you joking with me? Listen, don't bother coming now, I don't need your help anymore!"

Without a second thought, Uncle Zhan ended the call once again.

This so-called overseas doctor was anything but dependable. Relying on him to treat Old Mr. Ouyang seemed futile; even with three lives, his survival would be in jeopardy.

"Uncle Zhan, my father is going to be okay now, isn't he?"

At that moment, Ouyang Duoduo looked anxiously at Zhan, gesturing towards Old Mr. Ouyang. Zhan, though not versed in medical knowledge, was a man of vast experience and wisdom. Seeing Old Mr. Ouyang's condition, he felt reassured.

Seeing Zhan nod, Ouyang Duoduo's heart settled a bit more. She trusted his judgment. If it weren't for his insistence on having Lee Mu treat her father, the situation could have been much more complex.

However, she didn't express particular gratitude towards Lee Mu. She had known him previously and suspected that his success might have been a fluke. After all, how could someone who hadn't even finished medical school possess such advanced medical skills?

"Oh, by the way, Duoduo, where did that young man go?"

Zhan suddenly remembered Lee Mu. He had been preoccupied earlier and had forgotten to ask Lee Mu to stay. Now, he realized that Lee Mu had vanished.

"He... I'm not sure where he went. He probably left. Uncle Zhan, let's not worry about him right now. The priority is my father's health."

After Ouyang Duoduo spoke, she returned her focus to her father. Zhan, however, couldn't help feeling a bit displeased. Although Ouyang Duoduo was correct in prioritizing Old Mr. Ouyang's illness, there's an adage that one should repay even the smallest kindness. Lee Mu had, after all, snatched Old Mr. Ouyang from the jaws of death. Such an immense act of kindness deserved more than a casual acknowledgment.

"Duoduo, have you had any past issues with that young man?" Zhan inquired unexpectedly, catching Ouyang Duoduo off guard. She felt a twinge of embarrassment, knowing she couldn't possibly confess to Zhan that her resentment stemmed from being interrupted by Lee Mu during a school debate. Admitting such a thing would only invite ridicule from Zhan, who would surely tease her for being petty.

"No, not at all, Zhan. Please, no more wild guesses. Right now, the priority is my father's health. The company simply can't function without him," Ouyang Duoduo replied, eager to steer the conversation away from her personal feelings.

Zhan sighed and shook his head at Ouyang Duoduo's response. "Young lady, I don't want to belabor the point, but remember, no matter how talented or wealthy you are, trouble will find you in this world. Some people might seem unremarkable at first glance, but they can be incredibly influential. You never know when you might need someone's help, like today, for instance..."

"Enough, Zhan. Please, no more. You're starting to sound like a preachy monk. I've already asked you to stop speculating. There's really nothing between him and me. I didn't even know him before," Ouyang Duoduo said, her impatience showing.

Zhan shook his head, reflecting on Ouyang Duoduo's stubbornness. She had been coddled under Old Mr. Ouyang's protective watch all her life, shielded from every problem by others willing to step in and resolve her issues. She had yet to grasp the complexities of society and the struggles of life. It was high time she ventured out on her own.

In the midst of Zhan's contemplation, a cough echoed through the room. Everyone turned to see that Old Mr. Ouyang had awakened.
