C10 Berserk Demonic Beast
Chen Wuji had imparted a Secret Technique to Lin Chen known as the Qi Transformation and Breath Concealment Technique. True to its name, it enabled the practitioner to enter a state of disguise and hiding. One's breathing, blood circulation, and even body temperature could be fully reined in, rendering them nearly undetectable.
"The true mastery of this Secret Technique lies in the fact that you can still move your body after casting it without disrupting its effectiveness," Chen Wuji said to Lin Chen with a triumphant grin.
What a treasure!
Lin Chen opened his eyes, having fully mastered the Secret Technique.
He looked at Chen Wuji with an intense eagerness. His master possessed an abundance of treasures. Lin Chen realized he needed to explore and uncover more of these treasures in the future; to not utilize such valuable resources would be an utter waste.
Feeling unnerved by Lin Chen's intense stare, Chen Wuji retorted irritably, "Kid, don't get any funny ideas. I do have many treasures, and I will give them to you when the time is right. Otherwise, it could do more harm than good! Remember, no external object is as crucial as your own strength."
Lin Chen nodded in agreement, yet the fervor in his eyes remained undiminished, clearly not taking Chen Wuji's words to heart.
The following morning, Lin Chen packed his belongings and exited the tree hollow, making sure to conceal the entrance behind him.
He recalled Chen Wuji's warning that some Demonic Beasts possessed high Spiritual Wisdom, comparable to humans. It would be disastrous if a sly Demonic Beast stumbled upon their camp in a "watch and wait" trap.
Lin Chen hadn't forgotten his mission: to progress to the eighth level and gather medicinal herbs.
Learning from yesterday's mishap, he proceeded with caution through the dense forest, strategically placing each step. He also employed the Qi Transformation and Breath Concealment Technique, blending in like a stone gliding slowly through the underbrush, exceedingly difficult to spot.
"Boom!"
Not long into his journey, the forest erupted with noise. The trees shook violently, as if echoing the fierce roars of wild beasts.
Lin Chen's gaze sharpened as he deliberately slowed his steps, cautiously moving toward the source of the noise. As he drew nearer, the sounds grew louder until, emerging from a thick forest, he laid eyes on two ferocious Demonic Beasts locked in a frenzied battle on an open field.
One beast, a wild boar the size of a calf, sported four thick, long tusks that curled outward from its mouth, stained with fresh blood and bits of flesh, giving it a savage and bloody appearance. Its opponent was a striking tiger, whose majestic body, over six feet in length, was adorned with a pattern of yellow and white that seemed to ripple like water. Its muscles bulged like solid chunks of iron.
The area around them was a scene of destruction, with trees snapped and scattered across the flattened ground, evidence of the ferocity of their clash.
"A wild boar fighting a tiger?" Lin Chen was so astounded that he was momentarily speechless. The tiger was considered the sovereign of the forest, with sayings like "the wind follows the tiger, and the clouds follow the dragon" highlighting its apex status in the food chain. Yet here was a wild boar holding its own against a tiger—how could he not be amazed?
"You lack experience. Don't go around claiming to be my disciple; it's embarrassing!" Chen Wuji scoffed. "The tiger you speak of is indeed the king of the forest, but that's only in relation to ordinary animals. Demonic Beasts are a different breed altogether. Any creature that has evolved into a Demonic Beast possesses far superior talents to its peers. It doesn't matter if it's a wild boar or even a rabbit; once it becomes a Demonic Beast, it can easily dominate all other wild creatures."
"These two beasts are incredibly powerful. It seems only a Genuine Cultivator could possibly contend with them," Lin Chen remarked, filled with awe.
Chen Wuji let out a cold laugh in response. "A Genuine Cultivator is nothing. I bet they wouldn't dare make a peep in the presence of these two Level 3 Demonic Beasts!"
"Level 3?" Lin Chen gasped, taken aback. Such beings were formidable, on par with a Spiritual Martial Cultivator!
And there were two of them right before him? He felt his head spin.
"How is it possible for Demonic Beasts of this caliber to be found on the outskirts of the mountain range? It's baffling."
Chen Wuji furrowed his brow.
Roar!
Just then, the two Level 3 Demonic Beasts, which had been at an impasse, clashed once more. Their fearsome roars were so loud that Lin Chen's eardrums throbbed with pain.
The Four-toothed Wild Boar charged like a mobile fortress, rumbling towards the Multi-Colored Tiger with its head lowered. Its four menacing tusks pointed straight ahead as it bore down on its adversary with unstoppable might.
The Multi-Colored Tiger let out a roar and stood its ground, charging head-on towards the Four-toothed Wild Boar. As they neared each other, the tiger suddenly lifted its front limbs, and with a swift flick of its thick paw pads, a row of gleaming claws, each at least two feet long and resembling a row of short daggers, flashed in the air.
Bang!
The two behemoths collided, the impact of their bodies and the clash of claws against teeth producing a staggering noise.
The collision sent a shockwave rippling through the air in all directions, even lifting Lin Chen's bangs.
Boom!
The wild boar was hurled backward, smashing a massive boulder weighing a thousand kilograms into fragments. Yet, it quickly righted itself and, with a roar, charged back into the fray, shaking the ground once again.
Lin Chen watched, wide-eyed and with a tingling scalp, as he stuttered, "I... Let's find another way around. These two titans will be at it for a while and won't bother with someone as insignificant as me."
The sight was utterly horrifying!
Lin Chen had recently advanced to Body Tempering Level 2, boasting the strength of a thousand kilograms, and had felt a hint of pride. But witnessing the ferocious combat of the two Level 3 Demonic Beasts, he realized just how minuscule he was. Whether it was the boar or the tiger, each movement they made was imbued with the fearsome force of tens of thousands of kilograms, an overwhelming display of raw power.
"Wait a moment!"
Chen Wuji suddenly halted Lin Chen.
Puzzled, Lin Chen asked, "What is it, Master?"
"Level 3 Demonic Beasts shouldn't be in this area, especially not two of them at the same spot. I suspect there's something extraordinary here that they've come to claim, and that's why they're fighting so fiercely," Chen Wuji deduced.
Lin Chen scratched his head and asked, "What good thing? Where is it?"
"I'm not entirely sure yet. Go that way, but be discreet and don't get caught," Chen Wuji mused for a moment before pointing in a direction.
Despite feeling apprehensive about the two formidable creatures, Lin Chen trusted his master wouldn't put him in harm's way. Gathering his courage and swallowing hard, he stealthily made his way in the direction Chen Wuji had indicated.
"Stop!"
Chen Wuji's voice rang out abruptly after a short while.
"Ah, it's indeed a treasure! I was curious why those two would venture all the way out here to the periphery. They must have caught the scent of the Supreme Spirit Fruit!"
Lin Chen, unable to contain his excitement upon hearing Chen Wuji's remark, eagerly inquired, "Where is it? Where is it?"
