C8 Heavenly Blade League
The elderly man crumpled to the ground, leaving the young man beside him utterly astonished.
"How can this be?"
The young man couldn't fathom how Huah Yunfei had killed the elder so swiftly that he couldn't even react in time.
Even Xie Yu, who was engaged in combat nearby, glanced over and exclaimed in amazement, "How did you manage that?!"
In response to the young man's astonishment, Huah Yunfei offered a slight smile and remarked, "There's no need for surprise. You'll understand why soon enough!"
"Stop trying to look cool and just finish off that kid. Come and help me—I'm barely holding on here!"
Xie Yu called out to Huah Yunfei in desperation. She was overwhelmed by the assault of two adversaries, powerless to fight back. Her clothing had been slashed by their blades, leaving multiple cuts from which blood was now seeping.
With an embarrassed grin, Huah Yunfei promptly raised his Spirit Weapon and aimed it at the other youth.
The youth, still shaken by the previous incident, backed away. As Huah Yunfei advanced on him, he positioned his blade defensively, too apprehensive to launch an attack.
Huah Yunfei's brow furrowed as he scanned the youth's long blade, a knowing smile creeping across his face as he spotted its weaknesses.
The youth's blade was even clumsier than the elder's, riddled with numerous flaws.
As Huah Yunfei lunged with his sword, the youth scrambled to block. He couldn't grasp how Huah Yunfei had shattered the elder's Spirit Weapon with a single stroke, especially since he knew the elder's weapon was superior to his own. This made him exceedingly cautious.
What he didn't realize was that, in Huah Yunfei's eyes, his Spirit Weapon was nothing more than a piece of junk.
At the sword's point, a sharp clang resounded. The youth hastily retreated, but as Huah Yunfei thrust at him once more, he braced for impact with his blade.
What unfolded before him was a scene of horror. The long blade, previously intact, began to fissure and break. By the time Huah Yunfei's sword reached his throat, the blade in his hand had already shattered into countless pieces.
"No!" The young man's cry of alarm echoed as he helplessly watched Huah Yunfei's sword pierce through his throat.
Blood sprayed in a flash, and the two assailants, one old and one young, lay dead at Huah Yunfei's feet.
Having dispatched his adversaries, Huah Yunfei wasted no time and dashed to aid Xie Yu.
Xie Yu, overwhelmed and unable to fend off the relentless assault from two burly men, was barely holding on despite her injuries.
"I'm here!" Huah Yunfei bellowed, his sword flashing as he plunged into the fray to relieve Xie Yu.
The sudden appearance of Huah Yunfei allowed Xie Yu to exhale the breath she'd been holding, and she staggered back, her strength waning.
"If you hadn't shown up, I would have been a goner!" Xie Yu inwardly thanked Huah Yunfei for his timely intervention, though her words came out as a sharp rebuke.
Huah Yunfei ignored the comment, focusing intently on the two foes before him. Their hearts sank with shock upon witnessing his uncanny prowess.
"What's the matter with you? Why haven't you finished them off?" barked the commanding elder, looking over at the commotion.
"It's complicated. We've lost two men already. We need backup!" the two men called out in response.
Despite their skepticism about Huah Yunfei's abilities, they couldn't help but feel intimidated after seeing his extraordinary skills.
The elder, hearing of the casualties, furrowed his brow in consternation, uncertain of how to redistribute his forces.
They had Xie Feiyu surrounded, yet they were making no headway. They could suppress him, but inflicting any real damage seemed impossible in the short term. Diverting some of their number to confront Huah Yunfei risked giving Xie Feiyu an opening, which would only complicate matters further.
After a moment of deliberation, the elder made his decision. "You two, go assist them!"
He was convinced that if they didn't neutralize Huah Yunfei and Xie Yu quickly, allowing them to join forces would only increase the pressure on his own fighters.
As two more adversaries emerged, Xie Yu, whose tension had just eased, tensed up once again.
Without a moment's hesitation, Huah Yunfei launched an attack upon hearing this. He had already spotted the vulnerabilities in their Spirit Weapons and was confident he could dispatch them swiftly.
One opponent parried the incoming thrust of Huah Yunfei's long sword, while the other moved to support the attack. Huah Yunfei knew that if he targeted one, the other would surely wound him.
They had learned from their predecessors; their coordination was far superior to that of the previous pair, the elder and the youth.
Despite this, Huah Yunfei's gaze was unwavering. He aimed his sword directly at the person before him, and as the tip of his blade made contact with the foe's long saber, it shattered instantly.
At that very moment, the second adversary's saber was already descending toward his neck.
"Have you lost your mind?" Xie Yu exclaimed, seeing Huah Yunfei make no attempt to evade the attack. With a swift motion, she parried the blade just in time to deflect it away from Huah Yunfei.
With a smirk, Huah Yunfei declared, "I've got you, don't I? You handle this one without a Spirit Weapon; I'll take on the other."
As they spoke, the two remaining foes had closed in. Huah Yunfei thrust his sword forward, and as the opponent instinctively blocked, he cleverly twisted his wrist, bringing his sword down hard on the back of the opponent's saber. In a flash, all that remained in the adversary's grip was a stub of the hilt.
Xie Yu was astounded, unable to fathom the technique Huah Yunfei employed to so effortlessly shatter the opponent's Spirit Weapon.
Having dealt with the immediate threat, Huah Yunfei quickly turned to entrust Xie Yu with the disarmed duo, readying himself to confront the newcomers.
"Be on your guard! This kid's swordplay is bizarre! If it so much as grazes our Spirit Weapons, they'll shatter for sure!" warned the pair who had been bested earlier, eager to prevent their allies from meeting the same fate.
The two companions were taken aback, but one of them sneered, "Take a good look at the junk you're holding! It's nothing but a heap of scrap metal. It was bound to fall apart sooner or later!"
The well-intentioned warning was twisted into a tool for mockery by the speaker.
The one who had offered the reminder turned beet red with anger, gritting his teeth in frustration, unable to utter a single word in response.
The mocker, without another word, channeled Spiritual Energy through his body, causing the long blade in his hand to gleam impressively. It was clear that his Spirit Weapon was far superior to those of the other two.
In just a brief encounter, Huah Yunfei had already spotted the vulnerability in his opponent's Spirit Weapon.
The Spirit Weapon was brimming with Spiritual Energy, except for a small gap near the hilt, which was its Achilles' heel.
The blade came slashing down, the force of it like a mountain crumbling, signaling that the wielder's cultivation had reached the pinnacle of the ninth level of Foundation Establishment.
Huah Yunfei's brow furrowed as he swiftly sidestepped the onslaught. The other adversary hesitated, only striking at Huah Yunfei after he had evaded the first attack, attempting to trap him.
Huah Yunfei was taken aback by the opponent's seasoned tactics, sensing the imminent danger.
In the blink of an eye, Huah Yunfei made his move. He stuck to his original evasion plan, sidestepping the first attacker and bracing for the second one's strike.
At that instant, Huah Yunfei identified the flaw in the second attacker's Spirit Weapon.
As the adage goes, good steel should be reserved for the blade's edge. The second man's long blade was forged from sturdy steel, but the spine was wrapped in a lower quality iron.
This rendered the blade's spine exceedingly fragile, particularly in Huah Yunfei's presence, where it was riddled with weaknesses.
Huah Yunfei swung his sword, deflecting the incoming steel blade. The sword buzzed in his grip, sending a tingling sensation through his hand. Without a moment's pause, he infused the sword with Spiritual Energy once more. Leveraging the agility of his blade, he struck again, this time landing a heavy blow on the spine of the long blade, which the opponent had yet to retract.
The first attacker's swing missed its mark, and he followed up with a horizontal slash, aiming to bisect Huah Yunfei at the waist.
Crack! The second attacker, who had just sheathed his long blade, intended to flank Huah Yunfei alongside the first. But to his horror, he realized that his blade was shattering into pieces. In a mere moment, there was hardly anything left of it.
Huah Yunfei, elated, shifted his footing and rolled, using the momentum to sever his opponent's Achilles tendon with his sword's tip.
The man howled in pain, now crippled.
The previously unconcerned attacker watched the scene unfold in terror. He retracted his blade, unsure of what to do next.
Meanwhile, Xie Yu, trailing behind, quickly took control of the fight against the two enemies who lacked Spirit Weapons. As Huah Yunfei disabled one, she finished off another. She was now breathlessly locked in combat with the last one.
"What sword is that?" the man exclaimed in astonishment.
He believed that Huah Yunfei's ability to shatter his comrade's long saber was solely due to the divine weapon in his grasp.
Huah Yunfei merely smiled and disregarded the question, charging at his adversary. Having witnessed his ally's downfall, the man didn't dare to confront Huah Yunfei directly. He was forced to evade the thrusts of Huah Yunfei's sword.
Seizing the moment, Huah Yunfei dispatched the man he had injured and focused all his energy on his current foe.
"What's happening! A mere novice who has just established his foundation can't be subdued! Utterly useless!"
The elder, who was finding it increasingly difficult to combat Xie Feiyu, turned to see that one of the two he had sent for assistance was dead, and Xie Yu had slain the other. Enraged by the incompetence of his allies, he couldn't fathom their failure.
The retreating man cried out in panic, "This kid's sword is too bizarre! We can't block it at all!"
Now, fear had finally taken hold of him. He hurried to fall back among his companions, seeking to preserve his own safety.
