C13 The Paranormal Who Appeared

But what about him? Did he just summon Mr. Xu himself? Is that even a thing?

"I..."

With a cold smile, Chu Lan eyed the man before her and said, "You expect me to spare the Yang family? It's not out of the question! I have just one condition. Your son wanted to sleep with me, didn't he?

I want him to never touch a woman for the rest of his life! You grasp my meaning, don't you?"

Hatred flickered in Chu Lan's eyes. If Xu Lin hadn't been present today, the Chu family wouldn't be faring so well. Since they were trying to corner her into a deadly situation, why should she extend any courtesy?

Xu Lin's lips curled into a smirk upon hearing this. He was far from a benevolent soul. Others were plotting her demise; why would she show them mercy? That was out of the question.

Certainly not for Xu Lin.

"This... Miss Chu, he's my only son. My... The Yang family can't end with him!"

Yang Zhendong's father wept, yet he never considered that the Chu family also had just one daughter. He hadn't reflected on his own vile behavior.

Chu Lan's smile didn't waver as she said, "Uncle Yang, I'll give you ten seconds to decide. If you refuse, don't blame me for turning to Mr. Xu."

Her voice was eerily calm, her words laced with sarcasm. They had tried to use Mr. Xu's men to intimidate us before, hadn't they?

Now, let's see what they'll do when faced with Mr. Xu himself.

"Ten!"

"Nine!"

"Eight!"

...

"Three!"

"Two!"

"One!" "Ah!"

Chu Lan had barely reached one when a scream pierced the air.

Yang Mingzhe was the one who struck, delivering a merciless kick to Yang Zhendong's groin. There was no holding back; Yang Zhendong would be incapacitated for life. But Yang Mingzhe's mouth twitched uncontrollably; he was driven to this extreme. If he hadn't acted, the entire Yang family, himself included, would have perished.

"Does that satisfy you, Miss Chu?" His voice carried a hint of bitterness, but it was overwhelmed by respect.

Chu Lan simply replied, "Scram!"

Without delay, Yang Mingzhe hoisted Yang Zhendong onto his back and bolted for the door, with Yang Zhendong's parents in close pursuit.

Yang Zhendong's mother emerged, tears streaming down her face, as she cried out, "Brother! Are you really my brother? How could you be so harsh with Little Dong? What are you afraid of? You're a cop, aren't you? Why would you be scared of them?"

With a sharp "Pah!" Yang Zhendong's father delivered a stinging slap and said coldly, "They've spoiled you rotten. Now look, you've gone and angered someone we can't afford to cross. Are you out of your mind? That's Mr. Xu! If he so much as speaks a word against us, it's not just Little Dong who's in trouble; our entire Yang family, all two hundred of us, could be wiped out! And you had the nerve to insult him? Seems like you've got a death wish."

...

After entrusting Luo Jiu to Chu Lan, Xu Lin promptly departed.

Luo Jiu herself was a petite girl with a not-so-delicate voice, yet she possessed the raw talent to be a star.

Upon learning that Luo Jiu had an elderly mother back in the countryside, Chu Lan didn't hesitate to have someone find them a rental home, and she even doubled the salary Xu Lin had originally promised Luo Jiu.

A base salary of 6,000 yuan per month, with commissions on top.

Little did Chu Lan know that the unassuming Luo Jiu before her would one day become a fearsome female demon feared by all.

Naturally, she would be the female demon at Xu Lin's side.

And Xu Lin, of course, was the demon himself!

At dawn, sunlight bathed Riverheart Villa, a place steeped in a sinister aura, where Xu Lin resided. Having just completed his meditation and cultivation, Xu Lin gazed directly into the sunlight, his eyes bursting with dazzling brilliance.

The sinister aura of the villa, a remnant of Yim Jiuge's death, was a bane for the average person, but for Xu Lin, it was an invaluable treasure.

Behind Xu Lin stood a man with a masked face. A closer look would reveal a striking resemblance to Yim Jiuge.

Yet the man's complexion was a sickly greenish-gray, ghastly and lifeless, as if he were not a man at all but a corpse.

Perhaps he was a dead man, a living dead, a zombie.

"Mr. Xu!" The man's voice was a harsh rasp, grating and uncomfortable to the ear.

"So, you've decided you don't want to die now?" Xu Lin responded coolly.

"Yes!"

The man before him was none other than Yim Jiuge from that day, now reborn as Xu Lin's subordinate, given a new lease on life by Xu Lin himself.

Though Yim Jiuge's current strength hovered at about eighty percent of his former power, his physique had become extraordinarily formidable.

With the corpse king's body and his prowess at the Dao Entering Stage, he was essentially a living weapon.

But just then, Xu Lin's phone interrupted the moment—it was Yue Yuqing calling.

As soon as he answered, Yue Yuqing's voice, laced with urgency, filled the air.

"Mr. Xu, my grandfather... he's been injured. Please, you have to save him!"

Yue Chen injured? That was unexpected for Xu Lin.

Yue Chen's capabilities were beyond doubt. With the Clear Jade Talisman in hand, not even Yim Jiuge could have harmed him, unless it was the female ghost from before.

The Yue family had always treated him well. Without hesitation, Xu Lin teleported to their residence, where he found the Yue household teeming with members of the Mysterious Sect. To these elite families, the so-called Vleegas heavyweight meant little.

Yue Yuqing had been anxiously awaiting his arrival. Through tears, she pleaded, "Mr. Xu, you must save my grandfather!"

Xu Lin nodded and followed her to a secluded chamber, where Yue Chen lay on a bed of cold jade. A healer from the Mysterious Sect was fervently channeling spiritual energy into Yue Chen's body, sweat beading on his brow.

With a glance, Xu Lin grasped the gravity of Yue Chen's condition.

Were it not for the medical expertise of the Mysterious Sect practitioner, Yue Chen wouldn't have held on this long. Still, the ebbing of his life force was palpable.

Yue Chen's lips parted, as if to speak, but only a trickle of crimson blood escaped.

"Yuqing, your grandfather's situation is quite dire," the healer announced.

Yue Yuqing's panic was palpable. She had been raised by her grandfather, her father a stranger to her.

"Dao Friend, I'll take it from here," Xu Lin stated calmly.

The medical expert from the Mysterious Sect gave Xu Lin a grave look and let out a sigh. "I implore you to save the life of my old friend," he said earnestly.

Xu Lin gave a slight nod and replied calmly, "Rest assured, Dao Friend."

After the Mysterious Sect's healer left the room, Xu Lin channeled a stream of spiritual energy into Yue Chen, significantly improving his condition. Yet, the injuries were too grave for a complete recovery at that moment.

Xu Lin's brow furrowed as a glint of cold light appeared in his hand. He summoned a vibrant, life-giving force and swiftly applied it to Yue Chen's wound.

In an instant, the wound began to close at a visibly rapid pace, bones knitting and flesh regenerating—a miraculous feat.

With a deep breath, Yue Chen finally exhaled a heavy sigh and slowly sat up.

"Old man, my thanks to you, Mr. Xu!" Yue Chen expressed his gratitude.

Yue Chen felt a wave of relief as if his body had been rejuvenated, a sense of comfort continuously washing over him.

"You're out of danger now, but it would be wise to refrain from using spiritual energy for a while," Xu Lin advised with a detached tone. The Nine Netherworlds Buddha Mantra was not just a lethal art but a healing one as well. It harnessed the extreme powers of both life and death, which was why Xu Lin could bring Yue Chen back from the brink.

"What happened? This injury doesn't look like the work of that female ghost!"

Xu Lin was puzzled. Yue Chen might not have been the most powerful, but he was certainly among the strongest in Vleegas, excluding the Ghost King Level specter. That entity had made just one appearance in Vleegas before vanishing without a trace.

Furthermore, the nature of the wound suggested it wasn't inflicted by a ghost. So, who could have harmed Yue Chen, the influential leader of the Mysterious Sect in Vleegas?

Yue Chen's gaze grew heavy, reluctance etched on his face. Yet, after a heavy sigh, he began to speak, "Ah! It's the result of some past mistakes."

Yue Yuqing's face was etched with gravity, yet she couldn't help but speak with a touch of scorn, "If Grandpa were here, it would never have come to this!"

The Grandpa she mentioned was none other than the Sword Immortal Yue Haoyang. The thought brought a wave of sadness over her.

"Indeed! The Yue Family of today is a far cry from what it once was. Hehe!" Yue Chen remarked with a sense of resignation.

If Sword Immortal Yue Haoyang were present, would the Yue Family's situation be so dire?

Xu Lin's brow furrowed deeply, his face a picture of confusion.

"The Yue Family has always upheld strict standards. There was an outcast, my own brother, who was expelled for abducting a girl in Vleegas. But I never imagined he'd return with such formidable power!"

Yue Chen said, shaking his head, a trace of helplessness in his eyes.

"What kind of power are we talking about?" Xu Lin inquired.

"He's certainly more powerful than I am. I can't fathom his depth. He spared my life; otherwise, I might not be here today.

I had some inkling of the incident back then, and in a moment of compassion, I let him off the hook.

But who could have predicted that he'd return with the intent to obliterate the Yue Family? Conventional weapons pose no threat to him."

Indeed, not just him, even Yue Chen's current abilities are beyond the reach of ordinary weapons. The might of those from the Mysterious Sect is truly immeasurable!

Yet, this piqued Xu Lin's interest. Having left the Miltrie Peaks, he hadn't crossed paths with a genuine master, except for the female ghost he encountered upon his departure.

Now, that ghost had vanished, leaving Xu Lin to spar with the air day in and day out!

"When did this happen?" Xu Lin asked, his tone even.

"This afternoon. He returned and summoned me. But as soon as we met, he struck me with a mere palm, and I was left in this state! He also warned me that by midnight, he intends to wipe out the entire Yue Family."

Yue Chen spoke with a sense of inevitability.

It was clear that the adversary's motives were transparent: he had returned with one objective in mind—to exterminate the Yue Family. And for now, he had merely given Yue Chen a taste of his wrath.
