C6 Half Price for the Second Tablet!!
Ultimately, Mu Jin ended up going back to the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor with Hu Tao. They were half-sisters, after all. It would have been rude to decline such an invitation. Not that Mu Jin was particularly interested in the funeral parlor.
(Mu Jin, whispering to herself: But guarding the boundary between life and death is actually super cool.)
She looked up at Hu Tao, who was cheerfully hopping along ahead of her, and marveled at the weight of responsibility carried by someone so young.
"The sun's out, I'm gonna soak up some rays~"
Hu Tao glanced back, puzzled by the silence. It was as if she was asking, "Why aren't you joining in?"
On their previous trip back to Wanmin Restaurant, Hu Tao had discovered that Mu Jin could mimic her singing voice perfectly. She'd playfully taught Mu Jin several of her own compositions, which led to Xiangling being treated to a stereo performance of Hu Tao's tunes on their journey home. Really, Hu Tao was just curious to see if Mu Jin would pick up the next line of the song.
Deep down, Hu Tao's interest in Mu Jin was genuine, which was probably why she invited her to spend the night at the funeral parlor.
"Hey, why aren't you keeping up? If you get lost, I'm not coming to find you," Hu Tao called out.
"Right behind you! Just got distracted by the delicious smell from the snack stand," Mu Jin replied, not admitting that her mind had been preoccupied with Hu Tao's story.
"Wow, you can still eat?" Hu Tao was genuinely surprised. After all the food Mu Jin had polished off at Xiangling's, her stomach didn't show it.
Hu Tao updated her mental image of Mu Jin: a voracious yet endearing white fluffball, with her fondness remaining at a steady 30%.
Ouch, that stings... It's not like Mu Jin could help her appetite.
With a sheepish laugh, Mu Jin brushed off the awkward moment and caught up with Hu Tao.
Hu Tao, without making a fuss, slowed her pace to walk alongside Mu Jin, both of them taking in the sights and sounds of the bustling vendors.
She stroked her chin, struck by a daring thought. "Hey, what if I expanded Wangsheng Funeral Parlor's business into the night market?"
Mu Jin observed Hu Tao closely. She wasn't joking around; she was dead serious.
Mu Jin pondered for a moment. Coincidentally, her mission included promoting the culture of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor alongside Hu Tao.
This strategy was certainly worth a shot.
It was definitely a better approach than going door-to-door.
Mu Jin ventured, "How about we give it a try tomorrow night?"
"I think that's a great idea!"
They were quite the pair—one bold enough to suggest, the other bold enough to trust.
Well then, the success of the promotion hinged on how it was executed tomorrow night.
"But how exactly should we promote it?"
Hu Tao racked her brain, trying to figure out how to draw in more customers.
Walking beside her, Mu Jin was also contemplating how to avoid being seen as a nuisance while effectively promoting the unique culture of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor.
But overthinking it was pointless. It all came down to Hu Tao's plan.
Hu Tao glanced at Mu Jin and noticed the white-furred thinker seemed to be considering ways to help her promote the parlor. A warmth spread through her.
She had always been the lone promoter, and whenever she roped in the others, they'd desperately scramble for excuses.
But now, she had a friend—a somewhat clumsy one—to join her in her endeavors...
Actually, that was quite nice.
Mu Jin caught Hu Tao's gaze and, flustered, quickly looked away.
Hu Tao smirked, "Aw, feeling shy?"
"Not at all!"
That was the awkwardness of being caught in the act of sneaking a peek!
Mu Jin saw Hu Tao, already cozily nestled in bed, and then took in the single-bedded room.
Oh no...
There was only one blanket...
She had simply arrived at the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor as a regular visitor, only to be warmly welcomed by the overly enthusiastic staff.
After a mandatory bath and change into pajamas...
She had followed Hu Tao's directions and ended up here...
Mu Jin had never imagined that on her very first night in a strange new world, she'd be sharing a bed with a beautiful girl!
"Second tablet, half off!"
"Or a buy one, get one deal works too... Hehehe..."
Watching Hu Tao mumble happily in her sleep, Mu Jin clutched the blanket close.
She resolved to ask that enthusiastic young lady from earlier for an extra blanket.
But when she went downstairs, she was informed that the only available blanket was in Hu Tao's room—the others hadn't dried yet after being washed.
Back in her room, Mu Jin gazed at the blanket in Hu Tao's grasp and fell into deep contemplation.
Was she really about to wrestle a little girl for a blanket in the dead of night?
The system, sensing Mu Jin's reluctance, piped up with its icy electronic tone once more.
Emergency mission: Spend a delightful night with Hu Tao. Reward: 60 crystals.
Damn it.
