C19 Prepare to Escape
After a short time, Shen Faang had smoothly made it to their rendezvous point, much to everyone's delight. Seeing Shen Faang return signaled that he had successfully defeated the zombies, which filled the group with joy and confidence that Shen Faang would ensure their safe departure from the area.
Yet, Shen Faang himself harbored different thoughts. He believed there was a more pressing matter at hand: figuring out how to escort these people to safety.
He was well aware that if he were to abandon the place now, the zombies would undoubtedly pose a threat to others, a scenario he was keen to avoid.
Having given the situation considerable thought, Shen Faang called everyone together and addressed them, "I've made a tough decision, but I believe it's the best course of action at the moment. I will escort you out of the city first. Then, I'll return alone to devise a strategy to avert this crisis. You've all witnessed the ferocity of these zombies. If we simply walk away now, I fear they will continue to inflict harm on others, plunging everyone into a state of constant fear and danger."
Upon hearing Shen Faang's words, the group was at a loss but reasoned that since Shen Faang could ensure their safe passage, the issue no longer concerned them directly. Thus, they refrained from further comment.
With no one voicing agreement or dissent, Shen Faang found himself in a difficult position. He pressed them, "If you don't speak up now, I'll take it as your silent consent. We must leave this city immediately, or once the zombies regain consciousness, we'll all be doomed. Is that clear?"
They responded with silence, understanding that Shen Faang had thoroughly contemplated his plan. With no grounds for objection, they quietly fell in step behind him.
Just then, Shen Faang realized he wasn't entirely sure of their current location. He urged everyone to take a closer look around to determine their whereabouts and devise an optimal escape route from the city. Despite their attentive scrutiny, they still couldn't come to any conclusion.
Just then, Zheng Ziqing, who had recently been assaulted by zombies, regained consciousness. He turned to Shen Faang and said, "Shen Faang, I owe you my life for saving me earlier. It's my turn to repay the favor."
Once Zheng Ziqing had spoken, uncertainty hung in the air, and no further words were exchanged.
They all agreed that the priority was to flee this nightmarish place, so they held their peace, waiting to see what Zheng Ziqing would do next.
A short time later, Zheng Ziqing addressed the group, "I need a phone to reach out to my parents. Once I get in touch with them, I can devise a flawless escape plan to get us out of here quickly."
The group remained silent, filled with remorse for having considered abandoning Zheng Ziqing in his presence.
At a loss for words, only Shen Faang stepped forward, offering his phone to Zheng Ziqing, urging him to contact his parents without delay.
Zheng Ziqing's parents were exceptionally capable, and he promptly outlined a perfect escape route. Assuming they followed it, they should be able to evacuate the area without incident.
Shen Faang addressed the group, "The six of you must take the train out of here and then proceed to the next area. From there, we'll depart by boat. Is that clear?"
They nodded in understanding.
For now, this was the only course of action; without any better options, they refrained from further discussion, focusing instead on reaching the next area to continue their escape by boat.
Accompanied by Shen Faang, they planned to take the train first. However, reaching the train station would take time, so they needed to get the bus running. In the dead of night, no other transportation was available to ensure a smooth journey to the station.
Just as they located the bus and prepared for Shen Faang to start it up, they sensed something was off. The chilling presence of zombies once again enveloped them, sending a wave of fear through the group.
Liu Fei was the first to snap to attention. She addressed the group, "Pay close attention. Can you sense the presence of zombies? We need to act now, or we'll be caught by those zombies and won't stand a chance of escaping."
Upon hearing her words, everyone began to scrutinize their surroundings, fearing an imminent zombie attack. However, after a thorough check, they found no signs of danger and concluded they might have been mistaken.
Meanwhile, Shen Faang had readied the bus to take them to the train station, facilitating their escape.
Later, just as Shen Faang was about to start the bus again, he was startled to find zombies standing right in front of them, sending a wave of panic through the group.
They had not anticipated the situation escalating to this point. They had assumed that once Shen Faang got the bus going, they would be able to leave without issue. But now, they were faced with a grim reality.
Uncertain of their next move, all eyes turned to Shen Faang, silently pleading for him to make a swift decision.
Shen Faang himself was terrified. He hadn't expected things to take such a dire turn and was at a loss for words.
He decided to wait and see how the zombies would act before making his next move, trying to figure out the best course of action.
