C4 Young Girl Killer
Half an hour later.
At the top of the Yangcheng Hotel, in the Feng Yue Banquet Hall.
Liu Hao had decided against Ye Yu attending the event, citing concerns about the company's image, so Ye Yu was left waiting in the lobby on the first floor.
As Yang Yi entered the banquet hall, she immediately sensed something was amiss.
An oval-shaped redwood dining table was set in the center of the room, adorned with an array of dishes and drinks that spoke volumes of luxury: abalone, lobster, king crab, Maotai, Lafite, and Da Hong Pao tea.
Yet, something was off—there were only six chairs around the table.
Tonight's event was an investment meeting. Luo Xinghong, the chairman of Xinghong Trade, along with his three vice-chairmen, were seated on either side of the table, leaving the main seats at both ends vacant.
The meeting's schedule had been meticulously planned. With three representatives from Yangquan Wine Cellar and four from Xinghong Trade, there should have been seven chairs in total. Why was one missing?
Could the hotel have overlooked this detail?
Unlikely. Yangcheng Hotel was a seven-star establishment with exceptionally high service standards; such an oversight was unthinkable.
Moreover, the fact that Luo Xinghong, the sponsor's head honcho, wasn't occupying the main seat but rather sitting off to the side as if to complement someone else, suggested that perhaps someone of even higher status was expected at the meeting.
Puzzled, Yang Yi had no choice but to stay close to Liu Hao and observe how things would unfold.
"Seeing is believing, Manager Yang. You truly are a young achiever, becoming a business legend before even graduating!" Luo Xinghong said with a disingenuous smile, standing up to greet Yang Yi directly, disregarding Liu Hao.
The other three directors rose as well, turning their attention to Yang Yi with unabashed scrutiny.
To the world, Yang Yi was a golden child. At just twenty-two and not yet a university graduate, she had already been entrusted with significant responsibility at Yangcheng's largest winery, Yangquan Wine Cellar, serving as the General Manager of the Operating Department.
Liu Hao's mood soured when he noticed everyone from Xinghong Trade showering Yang Yi with compliments. He took a seat at the head of the table, on the outer edge, without a second thought.
Luo Xinghong's smile chilled as he caught sight of this and exchanged a knowing glance with one of his vice directors.
The vice director promptly approached Liu Hao. "I apologize, Mr. Liu, but this seat is reserved for Miss Yang. Your seat is located at the back."
The mood in the banquet hall turned awkward in an instant.
Liu Hao glanced over his shoulder at his designated "seat," which turned out to be a tatami mat.
"Miss Yang, please," the vice director gestured, inviting Yang Yi to take her seat while subtly suggesting that Liu Hao should gracefully vacate the chair.
With the success of the investment at stake, Liu Hao reluctantly acquiesced and joined Yang Yi on the tatami mat.
Yang Yi sat uneasily, casting wary glances at the vacant chair opposite her, wondering who might occupy it shortly.
Feng Yue Restaurant was an upscale venue with an adjoining viewing platform, separated by a decorative screen. From the platform, guests could take in the stunning nighttime panorama of Yangcheng.
"Yang Yi, long time no see!"
Behind the screen emerged a flamboyantly dressed man, sporting a flowered shirt, bell-bottoms, and a small braid, exuding an air of mischief.
"Jia Zihao?"
Yang Yi rose, her fear palpable as she trembled slightly. The last person she expected to see was Jia Zihao, infamously known as the lady-killer of Yangcheng University.
Jia Zihao's reputation was well-known throughout Yangcheng. He was notorious for stopping at nothing to get what he wanted.
He once set his sights on a high school girl, going so far as to bribe her family and then disgrace her in her own home.
He later flaunted photos of the incident, driving the victim to a mental breakdown and a tragic suicide.
The incident was common knowledge in Yangcheng, yet no one dared cross Jia Zihao, and the matter was never resolved.
Tragically, Yang Yi had recently become his new target. He had brazenly declared at the university his intention to have Yang Yi by his side within a week.
