C5 Children Fought for a Husband
"What?"
Chu Yang was clearly at a loss for the reason behind Gu Panpan's visit. Despite being an Immortal Venerable, he was still physiologically a man. His actions during the treatment were out of necessity, and it took considerable willpower and patience to maintain composure in the presence of a stunning beauty like Gu Panpan.
Absorbing the Immortal Seed was a far greater challenge for a mortal than for a cultivator. Chu Yang had exerted himself to concoct a dense medicinal soup from the Immortal Seed, meticulously applying it to every inch of Gu Panpan's body. He then used his own energy to facilitate her absorption of the Immortal Essence.
Saving Gu Panpan had cost him an Immortal Seed and a significant amount of his true qi. After she finally awoke, he had intended to spend the evening in deep cultivation to replenish his strength. However, he hadn't anticipated Gu Panpan seeking him out once more, especially attired in such a manner.
"I-I'm a bit scared to sleep alone."
Gu Panpan genuinely feared spending the night by herself, especially since she had narrowly escaped death earlier that day. If something were to happen to her in the night, unnoticed, it could be fatal.
"No." Chu Yang made a concerted effort not to gaze upon her long legs, his voice icy as he refused.
Gu Panpan hadn't harbored any particular intentions, yet Chu Yang's rejection left her feeling unexpectedly dejected. Was she so undesirable to him? Dressed as she was, any other man might have...
"I promise I won't bother you!" With those words, Gu Panpan grabbed a pillow and lay down beside Chu Yang. Initially hesitant to ask, her embarrassment was now overshadowed by the sting of refusal, and she shed any remaining inhibitions.
Chu Yang felt cornered. What could he do in the face of such a request from a girl?
The night stretched on endlessly for Chu Yang, with Gu Panpan's scent continuously teasing his senses, tickling his nose and stirring something within him.
Beside him, Gu Panpan was acutely aware of the robust masculine energy emanating from the man, her cheeks flushing with heat. Thankfully, the dim light of the bedroom concealed her blushing.
Separated by a mere blanket, they both spent a restless night.
Come early morning, while still ensconced in slumber, they were jolted awake by the persistent ringing of the doorbell. Reluctantly, Gu Panpan was dispatched by Chu Yang to answer the door. Little did they know, this was the beginning of a much larger ordeal.
The unexpected visitor was none other than Meng Jingxian, who had left in disappointment the day before! She had bombarded Chu Yang with a flurry of messages last night, yet not a single one had caught his eye.
She had planned to surprise Chu Yang with breakfast, but instead, she got a shock of her own.
The last thing she expected was to be greeted by Gu Panpan, bare-legged and clad in Chu Yang's clothes. The implications were unmistakable...
Suppressing the surge of anger within her, Meng Jingxian struggled to maintain her composure. Still, she couldn't help but ask through gritted teeth, "What is this...?" Her voice broke, tears welling up before she could finish. She despised her own weakness—it was just a man, after all. What was the big deal?
"Hey, hey, hey, don't get it wrong, little girl. Chu Yang was just helping me with an injury yesterday," Gu Panpan quickly explained.
Gu Panpan was taken aback by how quickly the young woman before her had burst into tears.
"I'm not a little sister, and I intend to compete with you fairly!" Meng Jingxian felt slightly reassured by Gu Panpan's explanation, but she bristled at being treated like a child. She was, after all, a grown woman.
Chu Yang, disturbed by the commotion, emerged to find the two women posturing as if ready for a showdown, leaving him utterly bewildered. Little did he expect that for the rest of the day, both women would stick to him like glue.
At school, Chu Yang's flashy purple Lamborghini turned heads as he drove onto campus. The scions of wealthy families gaped in disbelief; Chu Yang was no longer the poor soul who couldn't afford AJ shoes, whom they had once scorned.
Now, behind the wheel of a Lamborghini, with two stunning women in tow, he was the center of attention. Teacher Gu Panpan, who had turned down so many affluent suitors, had seemingly chosen Chu Yang, stirring a sense of injustice in the onlookers.
But what truly shocked them was the transformation of their once-ostracized peer, who had become the school's director. It was like something out of a fairy tale.
Unconcerned with their reactions, Chu Yang headed straight for the back of the mountain. Gu Panpan felt a pang of anxiety; despite her fears from the previous day's events, she knew that sticking close to Chu Yang was her safest bet.
Meng Jingxian was blissfully ignorant, her attention fixed on keeping an eye on Gu Panpan and Chu Yang, the latter whom she considered a sly fox. Since she wasn't burdened with school, her time was hers to squander.
Approaching the abandoned factory, she pushed open the door, and yesterday's scene unfolded before her once again. The foul stench that once permeated the air had significantly lessened. Perhaps Chu Yang's use of his Genuine Qi the day before had deterred the venomous insects from returning.
Chu Yang gazed at the heap of tattered clothing, whispering incantations under his breath. Abruptly, a fierce blaze erupted before him.
Meng Jingxian was dumbstruck by the spectacle. She had no idea where the fire had come from, but within the flames, she witnessed countless grotesque, enormous beetles scrambling in panic. Their wings crackled as they burned, yet none could escape the fiery encirclement.
"Ah!" Meng Jingxian screamed in horror, stumbling backward. The sight of the beetles' flesh, oozing with slime beneath their shells and writhing on the ground, was deeply unsettling.
"Don't be afraid, they're already dead," Chu Yang reassured her, his eyes reflecting the fire's glow as he firmly grasped her hand. His voice was calm and steady.
In that moment, he was seized by the desire to protect Meng Jingxian. Holding her hand, seeing her fear, he felt a comforting sense of security.
If only he could have held his sister's hand like this, to have protected her—what a difference it would have made.
Caught off guard by Chu Yang's sudden tenderness, Meng Jingxian felt disoriented. The warmth of his palm sent an unusual ripple through her heart.
Beside her stood a man who, as her grandfather had claimed, wielded a divine power far beyond the ordinary. Yet in this instant, his face betrayed a mortal's loneliness.
Gu Panpan, observing the pair, felt an unexpected pang of discomfort. Upon closer inspection, she had to admit that Chu Yang's features were indeed striking—his black, neatly combed hair, his sharp brows, his bright, deep-set eyes, and the allure of his Adam's apple. His shirt collar lay slightly open, revealing an attractive collarbone.
Gu Panpan softly took hold of Chu Yang's other hand. As he gazed absentmindedly into the flames, she hooked her arm around his neck and planted a gentle kiss on his lips.
