C8 Private Settling 2
Chu Yang caught sight of Chen Le in the office and couldn't help but feel a rush of satisfaction at the sight of his expression upon seeing him. It was a mix of emotions that was almost comical, and it made Chu Yang want to applaud. He remembered how Chen Le had treated him that day, and now he was determined to get his revenge twofold.
Without knocking, Chu Yang strode into the office, kicking the door open instead of using his hand. The principal's office was far from where the students usually hung out, so his dramatic entrance went unnoticed. Chu Yang figured anyone who did wander into this part of the school must be up to no good with Chen Le.
Confronting a petrified Chen Le, Chu Yang demanded, "I think you owe me an explanation. What was your intention that day?" Chu Yang was known for his directness; he never liked to mince words.
But he had underestimated just how shameless Chen Le could be. It was hard to believe that a school principal and chairman could have such a thick skin after doing wrong. Chen Le feigned terror from Chu Yang's entrance, stuttering, "What do you mean? You were the one who started the fight that day."
Chu Yang was now fully aware that some people could brazenly twist the truth without batting an eye. In this situation, without any proof, it seemed unlikely that Chen Le would ever confess to his misdeeds. But Chu Yang wasn't about to let him play dumb indefinitely. "Do you honestly not understand what I'm saying? Yes, I did strike out, but who threw the first punch? Don't you have any idea?"
Chen Le quickly realized that Chu Yang had no evidence to prove who was at fault that day. He couldn't believe that his years of authority as the principal would be so easily dismissed. He was confident that his students would take his word over that of an outsider. The more he thought about it, the more smug he became. No matter who was sent to challenge him, he had no intention of relinquishing his position. The amount of effort he had invested in it was known only to him.
Seeing Chu Yang's flushed, anxious face, Chen Le couldn't help but burst into laughter. "What could you possibly do even if I did something? And if you tell others, who do you think they'll believe?"
Chu Yang gazed at the foolish Chen Le, his head throbbing with frustration. He had overestimated Chen Le's cunning, or perhaps Chen Le was just that adept at concealing it. If this was all an act of playing dumb, then Chen Le was truly frightening.
Lacking evidence didn't mean Chu Yang was ready to back down. He refused to be outdone in a war of words. "Hmph, it's laughable, really. I'm here to assume the role of chairman. Do you honestly think I need anyone's approval from this school? You believe they all bow to you, but what sort of stir do you think you can actually cause?"
Chen Le was taken aback by Chu Yang's biting remarks, but he wasn't interested in a verbal sparring match. His priority was to bring Chu Yang's misdeeds to light and turn everyone against him, ensuring his chairmanship remained secure.
Chu Yang, noticing Chen Le's silence, remained unfazed. He was confident that no one could match him in combat. Moreover, with Master Meng's support in securing this chairmanship, he was certain he wouldn't be abandoned. Yet, he wasn't ready to reveal his powerful ally; he wanted to toy with Chen Le a bit longer, especially enjoying the thrill of seeing him unnerved.
Chen Le had gone quiet, but Chu Yang wasn't about to let him off the hook. He planned to coerce him into revealing his secrets, like the reason behind keeping such a fearsome creature. "Why did I suddenly pass out that day?" Chu Yang feigned ignorance, knowing full well it was the venomous insect's bite. If Chen Le wanted to play the fool, then Chu Yang was ready to put on a show of his own.
As expected, Chen Le's face betrayed his composure, his efforts to maintain control clearly faltering. He scrutinized Chu Yang's expression, searching for a clue, but Chu Yang's facade was impeccable, giving nothing away. Left with no choice, Chen Le cautiously inquired, "Do you truly have no idea what happened to you then?"
