"Mr. Chen!" She turned at the sound of approaching footsteps.

The face that met her gaze was familiar, yet Chu Jiangchen, unseen for several days, now exuded a distinct aura.

His features were unchanged, but the handsome visage before her seemed somehow different.

His tailored suit accentuated a stature both commanding and vibrant, a far cry from his former sycophantic persona.

In that instant, Du Xinyu harbored a twinge of regret.

Du Xinyu, unprepared for the kick, was sent flying into the lake with a scream;

"Plunk!"

Simultaneously, the lake erupted in a splash, the water making a dull sound.

"Xiner!"

Enraged by the sight, Su Li bellowed and charged, intent on clashing with Chu Jiangchen.

Chiang Chen coolly stepped back, sidestepping the reckless Su Li, and then delivered a kick to his backside.

Another "plunk," and the lake gained another flailing figure.

"Chu Jiangchen, you'll pay for this!"

"You've crossed the line! This is the Su family's... Glug..."

"Chu... Glug..."

Chiang Chen nonchalantly tossed a pebble into the lake and walked away without sparing them a second glance.

A minute later, Xiaobai, who had been petrified with shock, snapped out of it when the main system chimed in, "Congratulations, Host, on a successful mission completion. A random C-level item reward has been dispatched...

Du Xinyu's makeup had smeared beyond recognition, her carefully coiffed hair now a wild tangle. She stood there, a disheveled mess, with her once pristine white lace dress clinging to her, leaving nothing to the imagination. She awkwardly clutched at her dress, trying to cover herself.

The banquet was in an uproar, all eyes drawn to the spectacle.

"What in the world happened to you two? Making such a scene and storming into the hall?" Su Ziqing scolded before signaling the butler to escort them away to change.

Still fuming, Su Li shrugged off the old housekeeper and charged forward, bellowing, "Chu Jiangchen, you scoundrel! How dare you push us into the water! You know full well that Xiner can't swim!"

Chiang Chen stepped back, wine glass in hand, and pinched his nose in disgust. "Young Master Su, you must be drunk and acting the fool. I've been right here in the hall the whole time. How could I have pushed you into the water?

You might want to change out of those wet, stinking clothes. It can't be comfortable."

"Mr. Chen, why would you treat Xiner like this?" Du Xinyu wailed, her body collapsing to the floor in a feigned display of fragility. "Xiner just rejected your advances. Do you... do you want her dead?"

Su Ziqing, seeing her beloved being accused, was livid. "Take them to change, now! The shouting, the crying—it's disgraceful! They've brought shame upon the Su family!"

"I won't go! I demand an explanation!" Su Li's eyes blazed with fury. Had someone not intervened, he would have thrown a punch at his accuser.

Chiang Chen's frown deepened. "Keep it down, Young Master Su. You're spitting all over people, which is quite rude.

I pitied Du Xinyu's unfortunate background, so I brought her from the backwoods to Silk City and took care of her for four years.

I've invested time and money. She's laundered her past and saved up enough to leave with you, and I didn't stand in her way."

"What act are you two putting on today?"

"Silence!" Su Minghe, livid, pointed at Su Li and Du Xinyu and barked, "Take them away, clean them up, and then bring them back!"

He then softened his tone as he addressed Chiang Chen, "You're a wild one, aren't you? You've had too much to drink and have been rude to Xiaoming. Please, don't take offense. Uncle Su will have him apologize to you shortly."
