C14 Elisha's Persistence
In this episode, they set out to explore the story of Lucian, the only Chinese man among the world's top international coaches. Their goal was to track him down for an exclusive interview.
They were curious as to why he chose to retire and return to Vispheno at the pinnacle of his career, especially since he hadn't made a public appearance in eighteen years.
The reason for this was that when Lucian was coaching in Tarragona, Vispheno was just beginning to open up to the world. With limited access to international news and the national football team going through a barren phase, coupled with the underdeveloped state of the internet, his achievements went unnoticed in his homeland.
By the time Vispheno caught up with the world, Lucian had already retreated into a life of seclusion, and it had been eighteen years since any news of him had surfaced internationally. Had it not been for the World Football Awards, his existence as a world-class coach might have remained unknown in his own country.
Nevertheless, the news of his past glories was only whispered among the higher echelons of the domestic sports world, with the general public still in the dark. As such, Lucian remained unaware that his story had finally reached his compatriots.
Presently, he was focused on how to expedite the system upgrade so he could make his way back to Europe.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
"Who's there? Who's up at this hour?"
Upon hearing the knock, Lucian opened the door, only to find Moses, the same man from the stadium earlier that day.
"Mr. Henson, bet you weren't expecting me."
"Moses? Please, come in. What brings you here so late?"
Lucian was taken aback to see Moses grinning at the doorstep and welcomed him inside.
"I got your address from your principal. The provincial football association just finished a meeting, and after some discussion, we've decided to uphold your team's eligibility to compete. I rushed over right after the meeting to bring you this exciting news. Well, are you thrilled?"
Having learned of Lucian's true identity, Moses had made a special effort to connect with him. They hadn't had any conflicts earlier, and Moses had shown his support for Lucian, leaving him with a favorable impression.
"Moses, did you really travel all the way from the provincial capital in the middle of the night just to deliver this message?"
Although he was aware that Moses held Sandalwood School in high regard, Lucian didn't believe he was significant enough for the vice president of the provincial football association to come all this way just to deliver a message to him personally. There had to be an ulterior motive.
"Hey, Mr. Henson, you're older than me, so there's no need for formalities. If it's alright with you, feel free to call me Junzhou, or even Little Li."
Upon hearing Moses' invitation, Lucian's suspicions about his intentions only grew. Yet, he didn't suspect that his own identity had been compromised; rather, he wondered if perhaps Old Master Wayne had put in a good word for him.
Indeed, Wayne wielded considerable influence in the Vispheno football scene. If he had decided to advocate for Sandalwood School, that would certainly clarify the current situation.
"Let's do this: you can drop the 'Mr. Henson' and just call me Lucian. And I won't stand on ceremony with you—I'll call you Moses."
"No problem at all. Then I'll address you as Big Brother, since I'm four years your junior."
With Lucian's proposal, Moses, a seasoned veteran within the system, quickly seized the opportunity to foster a closer relationship.
