C3 Chu Lang Was Shocked
Half an hour later, the dark clouds in the sky began to slowly dissipate.
"Is it ending?!"
"It looks like I won't be able to unlock the All-Seeing Eye again this year..."
"Sigh..."
"I had hoped to unlock the All-Seeing Eye this year, but it seems I've failed to do so... Looks like I'll have to wait until next year."
"It's over for me. I'm already fifteen and still haven't unlocked the All-Seeing Eye. It seems unlikely now..."
"How will I ever explain to my family that I can't unlock the All-Seeing Eye?"
As the crowd on the plaza gazed at the dispersing dark clouds, there was a mix of joy and sorrow among them. The warriors who had managed to unlock the All-Seeing Eye were visibly thrilled, while those who hadn't were marked by disappointment. The clearing clouds signaled the closing of the opportunity to unlock the All-Seeing Eye. Indeed, as the clouds continued to fade, the sky was devoid of any remaining light.
From a distance, Chu Lang and Chu Tian witnessed this and a glint of satisfaction flashed in their eyes. The chance to unlock the All-Seeing Eye was ending, and Chu Feng would no longer have the opportunity. From this point on, they could treat Chu Feng however they wished without concern, for he was now truly worthless.
Meanwhile, within Nimbus Palace, Su Yun, who had been fervently praying in the garden, watched as the clouds above slowly parted. She felt her strength leave her; the dispersing clouds meant the All-Seeing Eye event was nearly over. At this late stage, only a handful of warriors would be able to unlock the All-Seeing Eye. Su Yun had harbored hope for Chu Feng, but now, even that sliver of hope had vanished.
Could it be that Chu Feng was ultimately unable to unlock the All-Seeing Eye?
Inside a room, Chu Feng was incessantly muttering to himself. He had believed that his potential would surely allow him to unlock the All-Seeing Eye. Yet, as time slipped away, he had still not succeeded. Although he couldn't see the events unfolding outside, Chu Feng sensed that the time to unlock the All-Seeing Eye was drawing to a close, and he had not achieved it.
Am I fated to be worthless in this life?!
Chu Feng raged inwardly, his heart in turmoil. He couldn't bear the thought of living a life of humiliation, of being trampled upon like an insignificant ant. He would rather die than endure such a disgraceful existence!
With this thought, a surge of defiance erupted from within him. Clutching the Divine Sigil, he recalled the chant his master had imparted to him and began to recite it slowly. The Divine Sigil was his sole beacon of hope. If it failed to awaken his All-Seeing Eye, Chu Feng would have no choice but to resign himself to his fate.
His recitation grew more rapid. Eyes shut tight, Chu Feng poured his entire being into the incantation of the Rune of Power. It was all he had to cling to.
Outside, the dark clouds continued to scatter. Chu Feng didn't cease his incantations, even as Su Yun watched the dissipating clouds in utter despair, tears streaming down her cheeks.
As the last remnants of the clouds vanished, a burst of light emanated from the Divine Sigil in Chu Feng's grasp. A brilliant beam pierced the darkness and sped directly toward him, entering his body in a flash.
Boom!
A resonance echoed through Chu Feng's mind, and he felt an extraordinary lightness envelop him. The All-Seeing Eye!
Overwhelmed by the sensation, Chu Feng was elated. He hurriedly examined himself and to his delight, discovered a minuscule bubble within.
The Elixir Field!
At last, he had unlocked the All-Seeing Eye!
Though the elixir field was tiny, requiring Chu Feng's utmost attention to discern, he now possessed it, signifying the awakening of the All-Seeing Eye. He could now become a warrior!
"What's happening?"
"Did my eyes deceive me just now? It looked like a massive beam of light shot toward the Nimbus Palace!"
"I saw it too!"
"Such a bright light... Could it be that someone has opened the All-Seeing Eye at the very last moment?"
"It must be someone who has activated the All-Seeing Eye. Could it be coming from the direction of the palace? Surely it's not one of the princes!"
The square erupted into a buzz of conversation as a brilliant beam of light pierced through the recently dispersed dark clouds, pointing straight towards the palace and stirring up unrest.
"Someone actually activated the All-Seeing Eye outside of the Heavenly Sacrificial Ground! This is simply inconceivable!"
"I bet their potential is downright terrifying."
"Of course, every warrior in the palace is a prodigy with extraordinary talents."
"Indeed..."
The crowd was abuzz with speculation, each person trying to guess the identity of the warrior responsible for such a dazzling display.
"Could it be Yong Zhan who has opened the All-Seeing Eye towards the palace?"
At the edge of the square, Chu Lang and Chu Tian also witnessed the brilliant light. Chu Tian looked on in astonishment.
"That light was at least ten times, maybe even dozens of times more intense than when we activated our All-Seeing Eyes. Who in the palace could have unleashed the All-Seeing Eye with such power?" Chu Tian wondered, his mind racing with possibilities.
"Impossible. Yong Zhan is only six years old. Chu Xiao was eight when he first opened the All-Seeing Eye. Yong Zhan couldn't possibly have triggered such a strong response."
Chu Lang was quick to dismiss Chu Tian's suggestion. Yong Zhan, the tenth son of the King of Edora, was only six years old. Warriors who managed to open the All-Seeing Eye by the age of eight were already considered exceptional. No one in the Edora Kingdom had ever achieved it at six.
"Then who could have opened the All-Seeing Eye?"
Chu Tian's confusion was evident upon hearing Chu Lang's firm denial.
"Could it be..."
A sudden sense of dread washed over Chu Lang, and he had a sinking feeling in his gut.
"Let's head to Nimbus Palace, now!"
Chu Lang urgently instructed his guard before dashing off towards Nimbus Palace at breakneck speed.
Realizing the gravity of Chu Lang's earlier implication, Chu Tian snapped out of his daze. He was initially taken aback, but he quickly set off in pursuit of Chu Lang.
Bang!
The doors of Nimbus Palace burst open as Su Yun, looking utterly panicked, rushed inside.
"Feng'er... I just... saw something..."
Su Yun's speech was fragmented with excitement, and she struggled to articulate her thoughts. In a moment of utter despair, she had witnessed a beam of light piercing the sky, which then swiftly entered Chu Feng's room. Witnessing this phenomenon, Su Yun dared to make a bold conjecture.
"Mother, it's true. I've unlocked the All-Seeing Eye!"
Chu Feng's heart swelled with warmth as he gazed at Su Yun before him. Confiding this revelation to her, he felt a twinge of emotion in his nose.
For years, his inability to unlock the All-Seeing Eye had made him the butt of jokes throughout the palace and the entire Edora Kingdom. His mother, Su Yun, had been relegated to the cold palace for the same reason. They had endured endless ridicule and abuse from everyone, from Lady Shuyu and the various princes to the guards and eunuchs. But now, Chu Feng had finally activated the All-Seeing Eye.
Truly, the heavens were watching!
In that moment, Chu Feng and Su Yun embraced tightly, their overwhelming emotions palpable.
"What in the world is happening?"
An explosive shout shattered the quiet of the courtyard, followed by a clamor of footsteps.
"Prince Chu Lang, I've stopped Chu Feng, but I never expected... I never expected..."
The sight of Chu Lang approaching with fury caused the guard at the door to go weak in the knees, and he collapsed to the ground. He had overheard Chu Feng's declaration of awakening the All-Seeing Eye!
"That good-for-nothing unlocked the All-Seeing Eye?"
Chu Lang's sense of foreboding grew as he observed the guard's quivering form.
"This... is..."
The guard was too frightened to even lift his head as he stammered out his words.
Upon hearing the guard's report, Chu Lang stumbled backward, only kept upright by the quick support of another guard.
"What do you think? Surprised, aren't you?"
At that moment, a voice emanated from the house. Chu Feng, adorned in a python robe, emerged slowly, a gleam of determination in his eyes. He understood the significance of unlocking the All-Seeing Eye.
Having awakened the All-Seeing Eye meant that I could become a warrior, and perhaps even serve the Edora Kingdom in the future. The King of Edora had decreed that no harm should come to a prince who possesses the All-Seeing Eye!
Bang!
Right after I finished speaking, I felt an intense force slam into my chest. My body crashed heavily to the ground.
"Cough, cough, cough..."
I coughed violently, glaring with resentment at Chu Tian, who stood beside Chu Lang.
Chu Tian had just struck me without warning, leaving me injured.
"Haha, don't get cocky just because you've opened the All-Seeing Eye. You were trash before, and you're still trash now. Killing you would take nothing more than a flick of my finger!" Chu Tian sneered down at me as I lay there, wracked with coughs.
"Feng'er! You... You're all monsters!"
Su Yun, seeing me injured by Chu Tian, pointed at them and shouted in fury.
"What did you say?!"
Chu Tian, incensed by Su Yun's words, was about to retaliate when Chu Lang suddenly intervened.
"If we're monsters, then you certainly don't need the Meridian Surge Elixir. We're leaving!"
With a final glance at me, Chu Lang turned and walked away. Chu Tian, teeth clenched in anger, gave one last look at my mother and me before following suit.
In an instant, Su Yun and I were the only ones left in Nimbus Palace.
Su Yun's face went ashen upon hearing Chu Lang's words. A warrior who had just opened the All-Seeing Eye desperately needed the Meridian Surge Elixir, which was under the control of Lady Shuyu in the palace. With Chu Lang's parting shot, it was clear that Lady Shuyu and the others would not be inclined to provide it.
"Mother, we don't need them. For the Meridian Surge Elixir, we'll find another way!" I said, looking determinedly toward the gate.
"Your Highness!"
At that moment, Lingling rushed in. Upon seeing my injuries, she gasped in shock, then quickly took out a handkerchief to gently dab away the blood at the corner of my mouth.
"I'm okay, cough, cough..." Chu Feng said with a slow, reassuring smile as he looked at Su Yun and Lingling.
"Your Highness, look what I have here!" In that moment, Lingling excitedly presented a bottle, placing it firmly into Su Yun's hands.
"Meridian Surge Elixir!" Su Yun exclaimed, her face a picture of astonishment upon recognizing the bottle Lingling had handed her.
"Where did you find this?" Su Yun asked, her expression one of bewilderment.
"I saved up and bribed one of the maids in Lady Shuyu's palace..." Lingling explained. As the story unfolded, Chu Feng and Su Yun realized that Lingling had acquired the precious Meridian Surge Elixir using her own savings.
Touched by Lingling's dedication, Su Yun and Chu Feng felt a surge of emotion. In the midst of their trials, Lingling had remained steadfastly by their side, unwavering in her loyalty.
